So 19 months after that painful defeat at Wembley to a team we were head and shoulders above for the whole of that season, we finally get our chance for revenge on Saturday.

Grimsby seem to have remembered how to score so will probably get a couple against our (un)watertight defence, but Doidgey's on fire and I can't see the fish stopping him. Hopefully KMB will be back too, he likes playing them.

Bout time we won up there. Bring it on.

I think it was more the case of what that twat Ferguson said at Man U that sent Keegan into meltdown about teams trying harder against them, obviously us being the GIANTS of non league, regularly taking 5-6000 to away games all those years, teams raised their game against us as they were excited at the prospect of playing the 1936 and 1939 FA Cup SEMI FINALISTS whereas when little FGR came to town opposition players didn't give a fuck and just rolled over.
Otherwise we'd have easily finished 15 - 20 points ahead of you.

Or even 35 - 40 points.

Maybe.

Our record against FGR is excellent so I’m expecting a defeat. If we do win though, it will be the first 3 straight wins we’ve had since being promoted. Keep Doidge quiet and I can see us having a chance. We’re also playing much better football than previously so unless Slade drops a bollock and starts Berrett/Dixon/Woolford then we can at least be entertained.

Chris, that be a brilliant eye catching thread title.
Made me smile out loud.

Despite the hype from the two Grimsby fans, all three predictions on Oakley's Predicta league have game down as a draw.

I love going to Cleethorpes where the home crowd is absolutely partisan. Fantastic atmosphere which is main reason I love football.

Come clean? You mean about how I originally started this match thread on Wednesday and it accidently got deleted, before you brought up the title again in the triple/treble thread in an attempt to claim credit for it?

it may be a strange atmosphere for any FGR fans coming tomorrow as you'll be sharing the away end with 600 kids from local schools with free tickets, you lot are being shoved in the corner to make way for them.

Those lucky kids, getting free tickets to watch such an amazing FEAST OF FOOTBALL.

Bet they'll be mentally scarred hooked for life.

To be fair the quality of the football between the teams in that final season was better than most of what I've seen since promotion. A win would be a great tee up for my "home" game next week against the black and white imposters...

Fair point. During our pre-match presser Coops did say that you like to play good attacking football, which surprised me a bit as Slade teams I've seen in the past haven't really done that. If you do it could be a decent game.

It's only the last couple of games that we've actually gone for it and attacked more and it's worked a treat so as long as he doesn't go back to playing the help the aged duo of Vernon and Woolford then it should be a good end to end game.
And Paul Dixon should never play for the club again, keep that useless twat on the bench or ideally not even in the squad.

I'm actually quite excited about a home game v FGR, what the fuck has my life become?!

Nah I haven't been for a while due to the previous snooze fests so just really looking forward to this one now we've started to actually try and score.

That depends on whether he reverts back to his old ways or not Pimpish, if he reverts back to the bore fest stuff before then yes, if he's learned his lesson then fair enough I can take that.

Make sure your chairman makes Dale Vince welcome (if he bothers travelling), DV seems to be sadly lacking in his own hospitality.

So you're taking it game by game at the moment..you may well want him out again next week but you may also still be backing him, all depending on tactics. Ok, thanks.

Jesus, pen to Grimsby and Fitzwater sent off for second yellow, Collins saves it and in off the rebound. Downhill from here on in.

That's as one sided a first half as I can remember seeing, FGR defence is awful giving the ball away constantly and farting around passing it between themselves. We should be well more than 1-0 up.

They're a bit makeshift but not much excuse for the constant failure to keep the ball. Fitzwater's first yellow was for timewasting after about half an hour! Bit tight because he'd not been warned and was just slow with a throw-in.

Well with the team we've had to put out today was always gonna be tough. Down to 10 we're fucked.

That Dembele's a slippery bastard.
