I reckon Sky should be showing games like this one (Stags v Notts is another good candidate). Honestly can't even remember the last time I watched this game on BT. What was it, 2014? 2015?

It was the season we went up, so 2015/16. I think it was late December? Waterfall got sent off and we won 2-0? Not a great game, but Amond was the difference. That might have been the only Lincs derby they showed, come to think of it?

No wonder I've got no recollection of that one if it wasn't a great game then. Not sure on it being the only one they showed though?

I was living in Korea for all of our games with them in the Conference, so I was bang on all of our BT games purely because I was deprived of seeing us live and I don't remember another one. The first three seasons we were both in the Conference at the same time we played them on both Boxing Day and NYD, which I doubt would have been on telly. In contrast to that I think all but one or two of our enc ounters with Luton were on BT. The Lincoln lot will be able to confirm probably, because it was before they remembered where Blundell Park is.

I think it was the only one on TV. Amond and Arnold tore us apart that game, particularly the former. I was just thankful the score wasn’t more! Shame they didn’t put the year before on, that Adams goal is still one of the best I’ve seen.

No idea how good we are or Lincoln, so I’ll go to the game and see. I’ll no doubt be greeted by a fairly average game and some very cringey Lincoln fans. We might win, we might not and afterwards Impish will say something Fucking stupid.

Looking forward to it.

I have been supporting Mansfield roughly the same amount of time you have been supporting Lincoln and you tend to fare better playing direct from my vague memories.

By better I mean losing in the play-offs every time ;)
Absolutely, which is why people remember us being direct than more footballing because we were rarely a threat when we did so!

I seem to recall watching a 1-1 draw, but it would be unwise of me to contradict you and the Lincoln fans. Well, for starters, there was no iFollow option back when you were in Korea SOC, so I can't picture your good self not knowing your team was on BT ;)

The only little doubt I still have is whether the game I'm thinking of wasn't on BT but on some Scandinavian or Croatian sports channel instead. I don't know if these TV stations are still doing this, but they used to show lower league games when there was no PL or Championship footy on the day.

Or - and this is probably the most likely explanation - my memory's like really really shit, and you lot were up against Luton and not the Imps. That one was another tasty fixture back in the NL days.

Sky's treatment of the EFL is pretty awful tbh. Uninterested monotone pundits and presenters. BT far better with their production of the NL imo. Wouldn't want Grimsby vs Lincoln being soured by being on Sky Sports.

Lincoln's budget is probably about 10 times bigger then Gimsby's, so they should be favourites. The pressure is all on them. Anything less then a convincing win and serious questions wil need to start being asked of the Cowleys.

Think Grimsby are the more skilful side though, they will at least try and play some football and if they can dominate possession, Lincoln's mega money brick shithouse xi might struggle.

I wonder if DC line up on the pitch and shake hands with the Grimsby players before the game?

I think you'd be surprised how close our budgets are- we have a very small squad still (I think still only 19 or 20) but a much better quality than last season.

If you have 25-26 players then our budgets will be broadly similar- but our spending ability in the transfer window will have been bigger due to the last two seasons income.

Don't believe that.

Lincoln do have a small squad but clearly chuck out very good wages, which is a good way to go IMO but yeah I bet this season the budget at Lincoln is bigger than at FGR considerably.

I have to agree, I imagine our budget (which probably still has room for a couple of acquisitions) is a fair bit larger than Grimsby’s. And if it wasn’t, I’d be disappointed/confused given our income the past couple of seasons.

If you've a similar budget to FG, they must have really splashed some cash then!

Have to agree, Lincoln/Grimsby Mansfield/Notts (we have to pretend to be rivals as each of our main rivals aren't in the same league) games would be watchable on BT/Sky etc, i'd certainly watch Grimsby/Lincoln.

They always boringly pick the big boys though - seem to remember them showing Luton vs Barnet last season - pointless as

I'm going 2-2. And there will definitely be a red card - hopefully for the Imps.

I saw my first game in 1972 and I can honestly say that this is the first time I'll have ever been to a game between Grimsby and Lincoln (even the games at Sincil Bank) expecting Lincoln to win.

Must have been some blind optimism on a few occasions, Les. Especially last season!

Maybe the game at your place last season when we were on such a shocking run, but even then I had a slight hope we might end our winless streak there. This season however, I just can't see anything other than a comfortable Lincoln win.

Hope I'm wrong though obviously.

Lincoln and Grimsby fans been up in court today and yesterday for scrapping by all accounts. Lincoln knuckledraggers allowed to come to the match this weekend but will miss their next three home matches as punishment. The Grimsby oafs? 3 year banning orders. Now, I'm not condoning anyone that causes bother at the footy. Fuck the lot of them, for me. But if you're gonna do so, do it with at least semblance of equality. That's a scandalous difference.

Fuck I'm so jealous, a L2 derby. Fucking hell. L2. Reading this forum is like a day release from prison. Oh my god. Antony Elding = Ronaldo, Alan Power = Patrick Viera.

When was this fighting from?

Last season at your place we had a few lads at the front of the away stand just shouting and swearing at the home fans the whole game. The fuckers didn’t once look at the match. Waste of a ticket. Ban the lot of them I say.

Proof that Grimsby fans dont wear ties in court if ever it was needed.

Does seem that GTFC fans get a bad deal, seems to be some of the best fans support wise in this league, Oldham maybe close.

Didn't even realise there were court dates.

Depends what previous convictions they've had, I suppose, hence the difference.

I could be wrong, but I think it was at your place. Outside a pub, maybe. I remember seeing a video of something after that game.

Yeah, neither did I. I just read something briefly on The Fishy about it last night. Yeah, must be previous convictions I guess. 3 matches is hardly a deterrent though. Most Grimsby fans would gladly take 3 games off at the moment!

Beautiful.

I think we actually might struggle tomorrow, but it's a great feeling not being the underdog for once. Long may it continue.

It's the video on social media (just google Lincoln and Grimsby fans fighting and you'll find it)- have to say there is more dancing than fighting but it was outside a pub in Lincoln high street last season. Can only assume GTFC fans were seen as the instigators of the melee but agree with a poster that "previous" will be taken into account when sentencing.

The mind boggles when fans don't realise how much is videoed these days and then used as evidence.
