Congratulations, you could see last season that it wouldn't be long before you would be promoted again, had the makings of a side that would challenge easily. Should do well again at this level I would have thought with a good manager in there and a large support.

I know the way of playing can be a bit of a sore talking point, and I understand it has changed a little this season but do think the style may need some further adaptation, took a little bit of time but Wycombe have been sussed out a little bit at this level with their similar brand of it. Its notable I think that the better sides at this level this season have all been more footballing ones.

Anyway - I bloody hope we arent playing you next season as its always a tough one!

Think we need a goal poacher to play off Akinde imho.
Yes we've scored over 70 goals this season but we've struggled to break down teams at home.
Add that ruthless streak in front of goal who knows!

If you can get tickets, get the feeling away fans could be restricted to around 1000 fans due to so many home fans wanting to go, even though we've drawn loads of home games since Xmas!

How on Earth is John Akinde going to be in league 1 next season?!

Congrats anyway Lincoln, hopefully we’ll be here with you. Although I don’t appreciate your copying of us coming from the conference straight to league 1

You’re too quick, as I was looking at the L2 table I just realized after seeing Tranmere & Macclesfield I came on here to edit my post and saw you already quoted me, ya sod

You fancy Shay McCarten on a perm in the summer? I’m sure we’ll take £75k-£100k for him - try and recoup some of that initial £200k fee.

Wouldn't mind us keeping him, looks like a handy League 2 player. Never looked like cutting it in League 1 but would offer us something next season. Don't think he wants to stay mind...

Think he would be 50/50 amongst Imps fans whether to keep him or not, early on he was very good but has played more of a bit part the last few months. As you say, guess it depends on the price and his wage. I would prefer Danny Rowe tbh.

I just missed out on our last, very brief(!), time in L1 back in the late 90's.

We've played most those outside the Top 5 in L2, so it's a little weird coming into a division for the first time in 20 years but it having a familiar feel to it.

Absolutely no chance we'd pay anywhere near £100k for him. As I've just said in the L2 forum, he's not been an absolute key player.

You should look to keep him IMO, he's clearly decent enough at L2 level.

Been a massive rise for Lincoln in the last 2 years, same colour kits as us but different fortunes.

Having a look through the last time we played Lincoln competitvely and it was 1999, last time in the league was 1961. So Sincil Bank will be one to tick off the list should we fail to go up, I imagine they'll bring plenty up here as well.

In 2017 Sunderland were playing Premier League football, whilst Lincoln were playing in the 5th tier of English football.

In 2019 they could meet in the same division. If Lincoln had won the play offs last season the two teams would have met in 2018!

Fa cup 3rd round, you won 1 0. Around 10,000 there.
You guys were heading for the prem and we were straight back to the fourth tier.
If you guys stay down you're definitely on my list of grounds to go to.

Think the Cowleys prefer Rowe in that role but he has some belters this season, his strike at Swindon the best .
He also scored the goal that took us up.

At least this guarantees a derby day if we go down or not. Would rather Grimsby but I'd also rather not go down.

Pleased Lincoln are up and that it looks like we should now be staying up. Enjoyed previous visits to Sincil Bank and have a mate who follows the Imps so looking forward to the trip there next season. I just hope for Lincoln's sake that they realise Matt Rhead is not a L1 player and they ship him off to the depths of non league #NOTBITTERABOUTWEMBLEY:whistle:

Definitely been an enjoyable 3 seasons, albeit very odd! All sort of records broken over the last 3 seasons.

FA Cup QF, FA Trophy SF (reffed out of that one!), Checkatrade win, PO defeat, 2 promotions and 1, hopefully 2, league titles.

Luckily, the infrastructure of the Club has grown alongside what's been happening on the pitch, too, so when it all levels out, at least we'll be in a strong position still.

We met Ipswich in the FA Cup in 2017 when we were 3 leagues apart. In fact, Danny Rowe, who we have on loan from Ipswich, got relegated and promoted to the same league on the same day!

And then in slightly different circumstances, Bristol Rovers Bernard Mensah was with us on loan for the first half of the season but got relegated the same day we got promoted at Aldershot, who he's spent the second half of the season with, in the NL.

Also, assuming they drop, we played then PL Bolton in the FA Cup in the not too distant past ('08 or '09).

The infrastructure of your ground has not grown. You have a series of meccano stands and one very good one. It's hampering you as a club.

You can blame the 1987 relegation on that because the two options were to complete the stands, or stay FT in a PT team in order to try and get promoted first time, which we did.

The Stadium itself hasn't, no, but the infrastructure around it has and is i.e. for example, the water pressure at Sincil Bank wasn't adequate for 8k-10k crowds last season but it is now. We now have a PA system we can hear and doesn't break during games either. A new media suite. A new ticket office. A new Club Shop.

Unfortunately, we can't do much with Sincil Bank due to access restrictions. The capacity is an issue and will be next season for most games I imagine. The away end is 1,900 but I suspect the Club will look to offer the minimum 10% allocation (just over 1,000) and split it between home and away fans like we have had to this season (unless you bring less than 400 then you're moved to another area of the Stadium and the home fans get the 1,900 away end). We had to cap ST sales at 6,500 this season to leave enough for membership and general sale.

Played you in your promotion season in the NL (our first season down there).

You beat us 3-1 at our place on TV (Friday night, I think), then 2-2 in the reserve fixture (we were 2-0 up).

Welcome Lincoln.

The whole playing style thing is completely blown out of proportion by lazy opposition journalism and preconceived thoughts about us (although in our two games against Luton last season we were direct so I understand their angle, but that wasn't necessarily the norm throughout the season as a whole). For some reason, according to some, being a powerful and strong side and being direct go hand in hand for some reason. Ironically enough, it's the two ex-PL players in Sol Campbell and Michael Duff who've been most complimentary about our football.

Don't get me wrong, we're not total football and expansive like the top of this league probably is but we can mix it up well, as and when needed (trying to out-football Bury isn't a good ideal, nor is trying to play football on Newport's bog of a pitch either). You don't score 280 odd goals in less than 3 seasons from playing like a Tony Pulis side.
