That’s a relatively new thing. When I first started going, too long ago, I can’t remember anyone calling us Notts. And “County, County,” coming from the main stand was the big chant.

I dunno. It's been Notts for as long as I can remember. I think it's part of the reason so many Nottingham people cringe at 'Notts Forest'. Just a horrible pair of words when said together.

Not a surprise really, why would an American businessman want to buy an English non-league club?

Orient were bought by an American owner after being relegated to non-league. A club’s passionate support, historic ground and long and distinguished history of not being a tinpotter are all very enticing.

Ah, I see your problem.

Notts can also look forward to their first game being on TV, either Friday night or Saturday lunch time.

And also playing hardly any home league games on a Saturday.

Thinking of a list, obviously I haven’t been to all of these places! Proximity to a more attractive neighbour doesn’t give you points, otherwise Gateshead, Stockport and us would be near the top of this table.

Nottingham, Harrogate,Torquay and possibly Halifax are the only ones I can think that would be worth a visit on their own merits.
At the bottom of the list are either towns in the orbit of London commuterville such as Ebbsfleet (too windy there too), Borehamwood, Sutton, Dagenham; grounds in the middle of nowhere (Eastleigh, Yeovil and Solihull) or Barrow (which does have magnificent scenery nearby).
Where does Maidenhead fit?
Or had you forgotten about us?
Worth visiting the ground for historical value......officially the world's oldest continually used by the same club ground...if that makes sense.

You've never fully appreciated NL until you've had one or both of them leading your front line on a Tuesday night at Bath or somewhere.
We've had both playing for us....how unique are we?.....probably not very.

I’ve never been to Maidenhead but you can see the ground from the train!

It's also a truly town centre ground.
So good for a few pints pre game and also a certain gentleman's club if you are staying for the evening.

Jacob, sorry, we are your local rivals now... lol:fl:
But dont worry, either you will escape quickly (in either direction) or can get yourself a comb, recline into a sauna with our resident Wrexham, Hartlepool and for some reason Halifax 2008 supporters and comb each others sparse hair, massage one and other and talk about the good ol days and why that team who beat you last week are tinpot.
For your sake mate, I hope its the former.

Sincere apologies to Notts County supporters for suggesting that Nil would get you out of the mire. He did it for us but then we had a decentish board.

The National League is a curious thing, great for a traditional Non-League clubs, aspiring clubs or bastard phoenix clubs. Not so good for traditional league clubs in the doldrums. Here's hoping that you do a Bristol Rovers rather than a Stockport or even worse, York City.

If Chorley come up tomorrow there’s gonna have to be some kind of Magpie royal rumble to settle this.

Sorry about that mate.
Probably never expected to ever be in the same league.
We were formed 1870 but not sure if we have always been called magpies.

Ah, I see your problem.

He has since reiterated that he still wanted to buy us and is desperately disappointed that our current owners pulled out. So that's pissed on your chips.

I'll let you off as you're obviously still giddy from reaching the heady heights of League 2.
