Last time we won 3 in a row at the start of the season, we then went to Millwall away on a Tuesday night. (Drew)

Last time we won 4 in a row at the start of the season, we then played Brentford at home.

Hopefully we have a few more players back for this one. Defence is looking very thin at the moment.

Brentford will cause us the most problems so far this season in terms of a genuine attacking threat. We can't gift them goals like we did against Milwall and expect to get anything, let alone a victory, despite our own potent front line. As you mention though, with only one recognised CB fit, it's going to be easier said than done to steady the ship at the back.

Assuming we don't sign somebody for cover before Saturday, it's likely going to be Jordan Spence playing as a makeshift CB again.

Early form suggests goals again for both sides.

With no new CB prior to KO I would be delighted with a 2-2 draw, or point of any variety for that matter.

Unbelievable, out for a month. No CB at the club

Fortunately, signing imminent today (Possibly Goldson). Can we make it two?! Anybody would do on a short-term basis, but they had to be registered by midday to be eligible for tomorrow.

Luke Woolfenden to start? Or perhaps this; Kenlock-Knudsen-Spence-Iorfa

Either way, starting the 4 strikers again is a must with the game plan of outscoring the opposition a must.

I think it'll be Knudsen and Spence at centre back, not ideal but we'll have to make the best of it. Can see Skuse and Downes both playing in midfield for a bit of extra protection.

Well, well, well! Who predicted that then?!

I could forsee us winning in a 3-2 thriller, or getting thumped 2-5, but I definitely didn't see a 2-0 home win.

Such a solid performance. The makeshift back four arguably looked the most comfortable back 4 we've had so far this season, admittedly against a surprisingly weak Brentford front line today. For all the possession they had, I feel the second half could have gone on for three hours and they still wouldn't have trouble us. Knudsen deserves a special mention, superb at CB, and Skuse played the (slightly deeper?) holding role well.

The last 10 minutes of the first half after the first goal were key, that was Brentfords spell and the only time they looked dangerous. Our second completely killed the game. Fortunately we remained clinical in front of goal as neither side created much, goals aside.

Great result from a threadbare (biggest understatement ever) squad. Might look back on this as one of our strongest results of the season.

Well done boys!

Can't believe what I've seen so far this season, this game was just more of the same. Absolutely dominate teams, fail to score and concede from the only shot on target against us. Crying out for some luck this season, getting absolutely nothing

Defending today wasn't the problem, we restricted Ipswich to 4 shots, and had over 20 of our own, just need some luck to not concede every shot against us

Read somewhere that Ipswich have scored 9 of their 11 shots on target this season, can we have some of that luck? (Before anyone starts, I know some of that will be down to good finishing, but no striker / team / Messi can keep up anywhere near that level of conversion rate - it's incredibly lucky)

My worry is that these results will spiral into chopping and changing of the team, we'll fail to gel and start playing badly (as opposed to just being insanely unlucky at the moment), and start to deserve to lose games. Need the team and the gaffer to stay strong and keep doing the same things

Unfortunately for us, the injuries are piling up (we are now missing over half our starting XI) which doesn't help (Henry, Woods, McEachran, Jota, Vibe, Canos) and very quickly what should have been a very good season can turn into an absolutely terrible one

Alright, rant over, football gods, please give us some f*cking good luck instead of continuing to screw us over

Did you watch the game? Thought you guys were terrible, just sat back and were lucky to score with the only chances you had in the entire game. No way you'll go up on any kind of performances like that.

Start to finish.

We were in complete control after the second goal in terms of the certainty of the result, the game was over. We could still be playing at 9pm, wouldn't have made a blind bit of difference to the scoreline . :dk:

Given the nature of the circumstances going into the game, we clearly gave ourselves some extra defensive cover & took our chances when they came. After we'd done that, the game was dead and you could have as much of the ball as you liked, you were never going to do anything with it.

Looking at the two sides early season goalscoring form & defensive frailties going into this game, coupling that with us losing Chambers 48 hours before KO meaning no CB's going into this game- we executed perfectly.

Who said anything about going up? We're meant to be relegation candidates.

We sat back because we had make shift CBs. Stats mean nothing, for all the possession you had, all shots were hopeful ones from outside the box. Surprisingly poor.

We have 10 injured first teams, many of them would be in the starting 11 so you can't make statements just yet about where we'll finish.

We sat back because we had make shift CBs.

I wouldn't necessarily agree with that. We had much more of the ball in the first half, around 45%.

We could afford Brentford the ball after the second goal because we looked so comfortable in dealing with them in the second half. I can't think of one real chance they created which came close to being a goal. Arguably it was when Bart did his best to help them out by making a hash of punching a ball clear that came into the box.

We weren't exactly attacking before our first goal.

Forgot to mention, fantastic tackle by the Brentford player as Garner ran through!

Jesus christ. How did I miss this post.

I've read some absolute horse shit on these forums since we started them, but this is up there. Football is about scoring goals- you were dogshit!

If you want to play fast and loose with the definition of 'dominate', in this case, having plenty of the ball (with our blessing) but spend the majority of the time with it outside the oppositions final third and most importantly, fail to create one genuine goalscoring opportunity in the second half (against a side with no recognised CB's!) when you're 2-0 down- then keep deluding yourself. Sky Sports sum it up pretty well;

Ipswich put the game to bed six minutes into the second half, thanks to the use of goal line technology. Garner headed Grant Ward's pinpoint cross home for his third goal of the season. Yennaris looked to have blocked the ball on the line, but referee Oliver Langford was given the signal to award the goal.

Minutes later the visitors were fortunate Cole Skuse's strike was deflected just wide with Bentley wrong-footed. Garner looked set to double his tally for the afternoon as he was bearing on goal, with Barbet making a fine last-ditch challenge.

The Bees tried to force their way back into the game. However, the best it got was Mokotjo stinging the pals of Bialkowski from range and even that was a simple save for the 'keeper. At the death Yennaris fired wide, with Romaine Sawyers having a strike blocked.

All I can say is, I hope for your sake you don't continue to dominate teams this season if that's what it means. Otherwise, it will be;
League 1 for you. :sur:

Worth noting that we have more injuries than you, too. I think 10 or 11 potential/shoe-in first team players at last count. So you can't really use that as an excuse.

Thanks for being incredibly deluded. You were lucky to get the goals you did, play that game 9 times out of 10 again and we absolutely smash you.

Glad we don't have to watch a team that will sit behind the ball the entire game, and be happy with 4 shots all game. There's no way you'll keep up that record of converting chances for the rest of the season, enjoy this lucky run you are going on, it won't last long.

We hit the bar, drew a few good saves, it's always hard getting clear cut chances against a team that sits so far back, no one manages it. You guys scored on one breakaway and from a corner, sounds like amazing goalscoring play!

Also, amazing that someone who runs a forum website goes so personal when writing posts in a forum discussing matches, I'd tell you what I think of you but as an admin you'd probably just ban me.

Jota might be back, but everyone else will likely still be out. Our subs should be good enough so not too bothered but it doesn't help having to chop and change so much.

9 times out of 10 your passes were side ways. Hardly going to smash us.

You seem rather deluded to think a team with a make shift defence would attack a game against a team who we've struggled against in the past.

You also seem deluded to think that injuries are setting you back when we've got 9/10 first team/starting 11 players out.

Yes you hit the crossbar but all of Barts saves were routine and would expect any championship keeper to save them. The fact you feel you should have won yet a make shift defence kept half of your 25/25 shots from outside of the box and miles wide then that is also deluded.

You're also biased by saying we had ONE breakaway. Did you miss Garner running through to be tackled by the last defender (cracking tackle), Freddie Sears breakaway to be tackled again by the last man, Garner down the left with a whipped cross along the front of the goal and had Sears been quicker it'd be 3-0 and don't forget Skuses shot just outside the box, just to mention a few. But yeah you keep believing we had one chance

Never thought Town fans would dislike a club so much other than Norwich, but Brentford and their fans are certainly getting there!

Have to say that Magpie is coming across very bitter here.

Obviously, I can't comment on the game but usually when someone keeps throwing the 'you were just lucky' line about, it's usually sour grapes.

That comment is a bit daft too, not sure I'd be criticising the style of play of an unbeaten side if the way my own side were playing had them rock bottom.

Sounds to me like a possible shithousing fallout.

Magpiebee has always come across as a reasonable guy, to me. Summats got him uncharacteristically riled. Have Ipswich been shithousing? Wouldn't put it past Dodgy Mick tbh. Rum'uns.

Shithousing?

I don't think they've gotten over the Judge tackle which was a 50/50 that unfortunately led to a leg break.
