Lol that 167 wasn't a league game, in the league we had 470 or something shite, but you're missing the point.

I won't shy away from saying when one of our followings are wank, I'm happy to criticise others by the same
token.

Northampton this Saturday now sold out (1475).
Fleetwood went on sale today and is also sold out (1125).
Managed to get 2 for Fleetwood, couldn't make Northampton, still trying to wangle an away day at Rotherham on New years day.
I missed out for Fleetwood cos I don't have that membership. Luckily my groundhopping has taken me to Fleetwood before so I'll be on their database.

Shite away end I left early when I went and we were 3-1 up.

Quite a lot of clubs trot out the 'shit away end' to explain away their poor followings to Priestfield. Truth is, genuine big clubs have no trouble bringing a decent number (1k+) down. If you aren't coming to Gillingham because the away end doesn't have a roof (view is fine, all seater, facilities behind the stand fine, decent size) then frankly that's quite embarassing.

Been to Gillingham once, last season. That's my excuse to not go again, I can travel 5 miles if I want to visit a shit hole no point travelling across the country.

You are right though, your away end and Bramall Lane upper tier are two of the best views I've had at a football ground so that's no excuse. Plenty of other excuses though, including playing you for more or less the last 15 years on the spin. Last season we took 1,000 on a Tuesday night to Charlton and 350 or so to Gillingham on a Saturday, tells you all you need to know.

Is Gillingham good for a piss up? That's the most important factor when considering an away trip.

The majority of football clubs play in shithole towns - That's not a great excuse either to be honest, it's not as if you have to move in! I'll accept the fact that we've played each other for about the last 20 years non-stop as a decent reason for you guys though

Gillingham no, but Rochester (5 mins train trip) yes, or if you're that bothered then have a piss up in London and get the high speed down which takes half an hour.

Now the curse of Gillingham seems to have been abolished i'll take note of that the next time we play.

True, but usually there is somewhere decent near by Leeds 10 minutes on the train for us or for the greater Manchester lot then obviously Manchester. I suppose London is relatively close, but an expensive day out for us northerners. What made it worse for me was it was my first, and definitely last time getting on a supporters coach as I couldn't afford to go if not. What a dull day, the highlight of which stopping off in Gravesend for a couple of shit pints at a chain pub.

To be honest none of those decision were Priestfields fault!

I appreciate we're a long way to travel for a lot of clubs - especially considering the locality you guys have to dozens of other league sides within a couple of hours radius which probably makes the trip here seem even worse. Like I said, Rochester is decent for pubs and is a 5 minute train ride if that's your thing and it's not too expensive either. I also appreciate that if you come to us on the train that means coming through London which adds a premium - you lot have to do that a few times a season, but we have to go through that for EVERY away game!

It's a shit away day and it doesn't appeal. Genuine big clubs take 1k+ everywhere on Saturdays, you're not special.

No shit.

Point being, they just go and do it and take the fans anywhere, rather than clubs who have poor away support making up 100 excuses as to why they won't travel. I don't know why fans insist on believing they're something they aren't and can't just admit they're likely to bring 3-500 down to Priestfield unless they're top of the league because that's just the size of fanbase they have. And you know what, fair play to those 3-500. Can't knock them. The ones I guess I'm having a go at are the ones who sit on their arses at home watching Soccer Saturday rather than travel to somewhere else in the country to support their team because they once had a shit pint in a pub there, or it rained once, or they once saw a poor person in the street - all genuine excuses we've had - or any other number of ridiculous excuses.

Our away end is no worse than several others in this league, yet it's just more popular to knock ours.

There are decent places for a drink in Gillingham itself, just not near the ground. There's an excellent micropub (Past and Present) at the far end of the High Street and the Will Adams and Dog and Bone serve good beer too.

Lincolns excuse for always bringing shit followings 45 miles up the A46 to us is that there's too much dog shit on the pavements. :brill:

I’ve been to Gillingham twice, for me it’s definitely distance why I wouldn’t go again, not cos it’s shit. Same reason I probably wouldn’t go to a few grounds again. Unless you’ve got a car full of people to split the cost and entertain you on the way down and you book a hotel then it’s too far for it to be enjoyable.

We went the second time because it was the first game of the season by the way. Was a decent game, think it was 2012-13 when we both ended up getting promoted and we got to the cup final.
