Odd how the game v Newport panned out last night. For 30 minutes we looked to be getting the better of it, though Newport were never out of it, we scored a goal and I was thinking this may be a decent, hard fought win. Then a bit of an open door policy was decided on by our defenders from corners either side of half time and we were absolutely dire from then on in. County could have had another three goals quite easily. We did hit the post from a free kick late on but we didn't deserve anything from that.
Kewell back to the drawing board and five or six players getting drawing pins I think.

10 games in and it's looking pretty interesting this season if im being honest. Notts County are usually the joke team of the league so for them to be top is funny and its also funny to see Forest green doing terrible after their owner claimed that getting promoted to L1 would be easy. HA.

Exeter will win this league imo.
Be nice to see Notts county come back up finally.
Table never shapes up till xmas, and you always get someone who falls from the top 6 down, and someone who comes up from lower mid table.
Forest green can't defend - and unless they address that, look doomed.

Exeter won't win the league playing like they did last Tuesday.
Of the teams I've seen so far, Accrington were the best. Competitive played decent football and never gave up.

Notts County won't win the league playing like they did on the 1st game of the season...

Yep, exactly, it's a poor argument.

Exeter are my favs for the title.

It’s always ridiculous when people make judgement from one game.

Brilliant performance from us today, first half we passed it superbly and Hylton was back to his best, toying with defenders at times. Second half Newport made it difficult, got balls in the box but we matched our first half performance of real quality, with real resilience and grit to see it out. Could and probably should have got a couple on the break as well.

Everyone played well but Hylton, Cuthbert and Cornick stand outs for me. If Cornick learns how to finish he will be some player.

Yeah that's the best we've played this season bar the freak Yeovil game. Really pleasing.

Just hope Jones sees how much better we are in a 433 than we are with the diamond and sticks with it even when the midfielders come back to fitness.

They may be second from bottom, but that is a fantastic result for us against Chesterfield today. They're our true bogey team, it's our first win away against them (in 9 attempts) and only our second ever in 15 games. It's also only the second time we've scored at the Pro-Act (5th time ever).

Mo Eisa is proving to be a great find, another 2 goals today making it 7 for the season (5 in the League) in 13 games (11 League). It's great to finally be looking up the table rather than down as well.

I think the over 80s blind women's team could beat that shower of shite across the m1.

Well done agent lester, only 14 points behind :bye:

Spot on. Hylton back to his irritating best, Cuthbert was collosal and Cornick caused them problems all day. Touch of the Gray/Vassell about him in that the raw materials are there, just needs to work on the technical side of things. Doubtful he will develop the same power as them mind.

Perfect first half, hit the post and how we didn't have a second pen I'll never know. Second half we weathered the onslaught at the cost of one goal which looked to have a foul in the build up. Could of had a few more had we been clinical.

To call Newport direct would be an understatement. Nouble was decent and had a surprising turn of pace. Not sure how they were as high in the league as they were with that defense mind.

We've had something like 60 shots on goal in the 3 games this week, coming away with only 4 goals, which isn't totally bad but we need to get a little more clinical. We've had a pretty good September, Swindon aside and are well in that title race. Pretty much a quarter of the season gone now and the table now starting to take shape.

Our first half performance today was fantastic, the second half was a bit nervy, as Newport decided to pay us far less respect as they showed in the first half.

As for being direct, yes when it comes to the long throw, but I felt they tried to play more football than a few this season.

A word for Jack Stacey - he has all the attributes to go far in this game. He is strong, athletic, quick, got a good footballing brain. Certainly has the potential to play 2 levels up. James Justin can't get back in; he's not been given a sniff.

Fuck me it's bad. There's nothing to hang your hat on and say 'Ok, well we've got this so we might be ok'. There's fuck all. It's just so sad and confusing. I've come away today thinking 'whats happening here'. It's gone past the point where you whinge and moan about performances and players, it's just quite saddening to see our club so this shit in this league.

Sounds all too familiar mate. Hopefully we can both turn it around.

Jack Stacey is a great player. He did so well for us last season. We were very sad not to sign him permanently. I think he would be able cut it at least in league one maybe even championship if he continues to improve.

We played well but again weren't ruthless and wobbled a tiny bit under pressure. I was slightly concerned even at half time I thought the game wasn't dead and one could change it - it almost did. Miss McCormack I felt. Nouble looked a real handful.
Lovely Hylton finish but another dodgy pen. Maybe I'm old fashioned. Stacey and Cornick as noted were exciting. Collins likes a moan. We're still far from poished.

Agree on the penalty! Maybe it's because I've watched him take them so many times but I knew he was going to chip it down the middle the moment he grabbed the ball.
Having missed the Wycombe one I knew he'd go back to that. Think the keeper may very well have been the only person in the ground who didn't see that coming!

To be honest I didn't think we looked all that nervy at all. They are always going to have a little spell in the game. They got the goal because of a blatant foul and had a little go after that. But long term fans knowing our history aside we never really looked like conceding after that. Defended really confidently I thought.

But yeah agreed with the Hylton pen being a bum twitch moment. Whenever he takes the two step run up you know he is going to dink it. He has never convinced me as a pen taker but I fecking love him as a player, some of the things he did today were outrageous.

After the first half I thought we might go on and get a few more. We were totally dominant and playing a style of football that is joy to watch. Every player seemed to want the ball and we weren't afraid to have a shot. Newport came out for the second a different team and looked up for it but clawing back a 3-0 deficit was never going to be easy. The period around the time of their goal was slightly worrying. Newport found that lofting balls into the penalty box was causing us problems. Not only that but we sat back and let them dictate the game which invites errors. Fortunatley we realised that by pressing forward we could start to take control again. This game was all about the positives though. A style of play that suited us and a sign that the players are building up a good understanding. Now its on to October and some very tricky fixtures. The depth of our squad will be the key. Replacing injured or suspended players with quality will I hope give us the edge.

Accrington's assistant apparently said that we were the best team they've played all season!

You know you must be really shit when the opposition start humouring you.

One of these days, Danny Hylton's penalties are going to go the way of Jason Walker. Those chips will be found out eventually.

Something that I don't think that has been mentioned on here this week - a brilliant gesture by Luton Town Football Club for those employees affected by the demise of Monarch Airlines. The club are giving away a five match voucher book for free (worth £90) to anybody affected.

The company was one of the biggest employers in the town, dating back 49 years. As an employee myself up until around one year ago I felt pig sick on Sunday night watching it all play out and felt particularly sad for many friends who are now jobless.

Many fans will say how great their board of directors are, but LTFC are genuinely lucky to have such a fantastic set of custodians; this is the latest initiative putting themselves at the heart of the community - such as paying for youth team rail fares, paying the staff the living wage etc.

How bad is the quality in this Barnet V Coventry game? Horrendous.

Barnet are a hardworking side that doesn't let any side 'play' - they can play football but they very much setup to frustrate.
