The foul given for their free kick which led for their first goal was one of the most hilerulusly ridiculous decisions I’ve seen, whatever was he thinking.

Then in the first half when the assistant thought the ball had gone for a throw in when it was about a metre inside, so they kinda made up a free kick lol

Cheltenham manager has come out saying you couldn’t tell who is going for promotion other than the score line. I actually reckon we was at best average and clearly better in every department.

One thing we really have nailed down like no other L2 team is how fluid we are.

Cheltenham were dedicated but limited, a side which sums up their position in the league, too good to go down but not much more, solid home form mind.

We were the better side for most of the game by some distance

I agree with him a little, but not much. On balance I thought it was a reasonably competitive game overall, but I thought we were cutting through them quite often, particularly just before half time. The half time whistle came in good time for Cheltenham because it looked like we were going to get another couple of goals. They weren't able to cope with our pace.

They did well to get back into it after HT (Hussey was their standout player, thought his set pieces were excellent) but was disappointing to concede from a set piece given they hadn't created much from open play.

At 2-2 I thought it was going to be a difficult rest of the game, but thankfully we got the goals. So a decent side and a good game but thought you could tell we were the promotion chasing side.

Away from the match day stuff, today marks 9 years since Keith Alexander's passing. The time has flown by and he was a fantastic gentleman who loved the game and had time for anyone. Sorely missed at the Bank.

Anyways, good win for the U's. We met a fairly ordinary play off chasing side and made them look, well, fairly ordinary. And before anybody chimes in and say Grimsby had a bad day at the office - like everybody else says when their side loses, incl. yours truly - that's plain bollocks. We made them look poor, so like credit where credits due eh.

I wish we could lose commentary, our "substitute" commentator is absolutely horrific, if I wasn't watching I'd struggle to know we'd scored.

That commentary was pure comedy gold. I was watching the stream too, and he was literally at least ten seconds behind play. My fav part, beside that colgate and toothbrush nonsense, was when there wasn't anything remotely interesting happening but he said it wasn't a good time to go to Andy Abbott. A minute later and Grimsby had the ball just outside our box and he said now's a good time! Priceless

Sorely missed everywhere, at Mansfield and Macclesfield also.
Yep. Add us to that list. Will never forget big Keith through on goal with no one near him and falling flat on his face full flight. Because it was Keith we laughed and nobody cared.

Great man, wouldn’t hurt a fly and a legend for being with us at Wembley years after he had left.

God bless you Keith.

A comfy 3-0 win at home to Colchester on Saturday. I didn't go but the messages coming through about 30 minutes through the first half did not sound positive.

The Colchester keeper, Gilmartin, who was a liability throughout seemingly, made a hash of a clearance, we put a few passes together and defensive midfielder Canice Carroll hooked home. 2 minutes later, a decent move finished off by RB Woolfendon with a header and the game was more or less done.

Second half we put some gloss on the win with a Bennett strike that the Colchester keeper decided to palm into the goal, cheers Rene!!

We weren't amazing by any stretch but Wellens nullified Courtney Senior and Szmodics was out injured which was a massive help. We are still missing Doughty but 3 goals, a win and we are back to 0 goal difference!

Carlisle away next.

You going, Bob? I’m half thinking about it as I’ve not got many games left to go to (3). I’ll defo go to Stevenage on the Tuesday - should get a decent turn out for that one.

Nah, too far away and have plans Saturday night - I think the train is uber expensive as well. I would like to go to Carlisle one day, its a nice part of the world!

A few of the London Reds are going to Stevenage, we may get a decent turnout, even better if we can take something from Carlisle.

I'm going to the Port Vale home game as well, our 'ultras' are planning some display as its the 50 year anniversary of the league cup win and I'm sure they will be parading the players etc.

Who are you going to support when you move to Greece Audrey?

I’ll still support STFC, Bob - but via iFollow!

There’s no team on the island but Athens is 45 min by plane so if we ever get to play AEK or Panathanikos, I’ll be there! Only 3 weeks to go

Well it was a given you would still support STFC, but I wondered if there was a local island team you could drink some beer and watch to get your football fix!

I'm looking to move abroad when closer to retirement too, can you buy a season ticket with iFollow?

€140 for the season, I think. That’s all 46 games.

I paid $7:00 to watch us on ifollow (I'm in California for a few weeks). GTFC never got going and I thought Cambridge were bigger and stronger all over the park; well deserved their win. Why I proposed us as 'Play-Off Outsiders/Dark Horses' just shows you how deluded I am and how much alcohol I consume.

What excellent news! A revamped CG is what we need - not a new stadium.

The CG must be one of the best positioned grounds in the country. Easy access from every direction, walkable from the train station and as many pubs to satisfy the most piggish of Grimsby fans!

Why is Cheltenham v Bury this evening?
Neither side seems to have a game in hand , is it rearranged from a previous postponement ?

Should have been played next Tuesday, but as Cheltenham race meeting is next week, the game has been brought forward.

Or live in Gloucestershire - I've spent half my life within a mile of the racecourse and still never been to a meeting.

Big games keep on coming for us - Carlisle away Saturday. Must keep winning or at least not losing.

Luton accounts in for their promotion season. Despite spending a million on transfer fees they made their first profit in a decade from player sales too
