Shocking challenge in the Barnet vs Stevenage game. What was he thinking?!

Dale Gorman - very much a hot-head but Darren Sarll loves him so won't drop him (although he will have to for 3 games yay!)

Coulthirst is dog toffee, truly Westley's worst signing for us and there was plenty of them. He's always offside, his first touch is woeful and his ball control is abysmal. Santos who we flogged to you isn't much better either. Barry Fry has stitched Barnet right up flogging you these two...

Santos has been quality, I think Posh fans judgement of him is tainted by him being a dick to the fans after being treated like turd.

Coulthirst though we can agree on!

I don't much care for his little twitter rant but he was too slow and seems to think he's Gerard Pique with the ball at his feet.

Luckily we've not seen any of that here. Strong in the air, commanding, positionally good (so his pace doesn't catch him out). Bit of a fans favourite (at a club where to become anything not negative at the moment you have to save a fans baby from certain death or something). Let's see though.

Feel free to buy Coulthirst back though. Please.

Yep I am a prime example of this, last season I went to every home game unless I had a valid reason like Hartlepool was on my daughters Birthday, one game (can't remember which) we were away etc, and the last few with nothing to play for I didn't bother.
This season against Wycombe I didn't go just because I didn't want to as we are playing typical Slade hoof ball.
Seems a lot of other supporters are feeling the same sadly.

You deserve to go down with fair weather fans like that. Don't know what you expected from Slade and that squad, I did say you're in massive trouble before the season started.

Slade's tactics aren't going to change and no-one any good is going to sign at this stage so suck it up fish and get down there and support your side because they're gunna need you!

Wow things must be really bad if some Grimsby fans are actually choosing to stay in Grimsby instead of taking the chance to escape for the day at football. :fl:

Seriously though, my prediction of 24th isn't looking so silly now is it. At least if you do go down you'll get to banter with Sparrow and Master D again next season, eh Fish.:fl:

Most of us conceded that we won't be very good this season. Things are admittedly looking bleaker than we would have hoped but it's early days yet. Key players injured/suspended isn't helping and actually finishing a game with 11 men might enable us to pick up a few points. Massive crisis but only a point and two points respectively behind the vastly superior outfits of FGR and promotion favourites Lincoln though.

Slade is looking like a terrible appointment and part of me is all ready to get on the Slade Out bandwagon. I've never called for a manager's head so early, but he has seemingly lost the plot since we last had him. I don't mind hoofball if it is deployed well, ie. with a big man/fast man front two, quick wingers and CMs who will run their arses into the ground and are capable of picking a pass. However, we're way short of many of those attributes in our starting lineup and at times we're desperately lumping it up to lone strikers who aren't target men.

However, the most frustrating and unforgivable thing that is going on is that over a season and three different managers on...SUMMERFIELD AND BERRETT ARE STILL IN AND AROUND THE FIRST TEAM. Okay, Osborne is injured but fuck me. With these two clowns in the middle of the park we are never ever going to string together a decent run of form. Watching these two is so reminiscent of the absolute dross that was served up in the seasons between Slade's previous stint and our eventual relegation. Rodgers, Newell, Buckley Mk III, Woods; these horrible horrible sides were built around crap CMs. This issue needs to be addressed as a matter of urgency. I'm more than willing to give Slade my support for now, as I do think he is a slow burner of a manger who needs time but he also needs to be making positive changes to the shite we have seen in the past few league matches.

Agree with SoC that it's early days, we're missing key players through injury and once this absolute nonsense of not finishing a match with 11 players ends, we will pick up points. Ultimately Slade's recruitment has been nothing short of diabolical. He is hell bent on smashing it to the lone striker but none of the strikers he has signed suit that style of play whatsoever. If that doesn't work we smash it up to Dembele who is 4 foot tall. M.Rose has looked decent but Clarke, Dixon and Kelly have been disasters so far, Hooper not far behind though I sympathise that the formation hasn't helped him. Not to mention the fact he actually fucking rates James Berrett. I don't know the true reasons as to why he missed out on key signings (let's not forget Kelly was an early signing and was probably high on the list) but I absolutely believe that Bignot would've had a much better transfer window.

I think we'll be fine after a daunting flirt with the relegation spots but I honestly don't think Slade is going to last the season at this rate. You sort of expect new players to at least battle for a spot and try to impress early before fading away but our entire team just looks like it doesn't give a shit at the minute. It seems like Russ doesn't have a grip on things in the slightest.

last year we were bottom in november. ended up only just missing out on the autos. nothing really changed in that time.

it's too early to make any calls about your team.

Did your players look lethargic and gutless and like they didn't give a shit if they get booked or sent off? Because ours do and last time we had a team like that we went down. I spent many years of dreadful starts trying to convince people around me that it's far too early to judge but what we're seeing this year is something else entirely.

Weird thing about Kelly is that when he signed, he said he rejected Shrewsbury, meaning Hurst wanted to sign him. Make of that what you will. Though the guy is a waste of space and should be released NOW.

Have to agree that despite us signing 25 CMs since last year, the fact that Berrett and Summerfield still make the first team is inexcusable, with Berrett being one of the first names on the team sheet! Clarke and Dixon are just too slow and all the 'experience' in the world can't make up for that.

Finally, Slade's one shining light so far is his capture of Dembele. But when he likely goes in January, we are fucked.

We started similar last season but expectations were lower and we at least looked like we could play football. Nothing so far points to us improving especially if he carries on playing one up front and slading it over the top.

People dissed Hurst and Bignot but our current best players and the ones everyone desperately wants back from injury are all their signings not Slades, and Bignot may have signed loads of CMs but at least he knew that was our weak point and shipped Summerfield out on loan.

Plus from what I've seen for Dembele so far he doesn't seem all that, looks good with us but that's not difficult I struggle to see him impressing in some of the top sides in this league from what I've seen (yes I missed Chesterfield but as SoC said even Bore had an amazing debut). He will probably remain our best player this season and for me that is depressing!

I don't know what the solution is. Osborne when back and Jones might keep you up think that's your only hope. Have you sold Dembele? Not heard from him since Chesterfield. Your starting XI is really bad though and with the fans turning on Slade already it all points towards the R word. All very predictable shame Fenty couldn't see it.

The fans are turning on Fenty for appointing Slade in the first place, rather than blaming Slade right now.

I don't see Grimsby being in the relegation zone when they get all their players fit. I had them down finishing 15th in the league prediction table on vitals.

Sorry Frealaf but Dembele will go on to a higher league at the end of the season, if not January.

Well that won't be difficult seen as Nsiala and LJL have gone onto a higher league!

I'd love to be proven wrong but based on what I've seen (last two lge games and first half v Coventry) he doesn't look as good as made out, just a typical lower league winger than can run at people and scare them.

I can't help but agree with ChrisFGR on that comment of Grimsby because all the football league clubs in Lincolnshire are the sort that make you cringe and that's just starting with the awful naming of the places.

For example Grimsby and Scunthorpe don't exactly sound like a nice place to go and live and the football clubs aren't rich in gold either, so how they ever attract any good footballers beggars belief!

It's named after the leader of the Norse Gods Odin, he took the name "Grim" when he walked amongst men, and took the guise of a fisherman.

So it's a town named after a God!

Nice pics of a film set in Tilbury to illustrate your point there.

Well your town should of changed its name when the word 'Grim' which describes something depressing, was invented.

Grimsby Town should really be called Cleethropes Town, seeing that they play in Cleethropes instead of Grimsby.
