With County's very winnable next two fixtures, it's set up perfectly for Askey to beat us at Vale and send us down.

Cameron being injured might force Campbell to abandon the 5-3-2 formation that really hasn't worked for us. Indiviually the CBs have looked much more shaky when there's 3 of them and it doesn't offer us more defensive cover; midfield at times have got in each others way too. The only player it seemed to properly suit was Pearson (MWH offers absolutely nothing going forwards in comparison) and his absence in the last 2 games, and throughout the season, has been clear. Injuries have prevented it some of the time but we played a back 4 of Pearson-Cameron-Kellerher-Fitz for 7 games, in which we won 4, drew 1, conceeded only 4 goals and kept 4 clean sheets. I don't think Jules is a bad player, but I feel Campbell has forced in him in at the detriment to the rest of the team. We have wingers who might be better suited played on the wing, for example.

The problem with the 4-5-1 is that we don't have anyone to play on the left wing because the squad is so unbalanced. It would have to be someone like Martis or Marsh playing out of position. But I agree that the back five should be scrapped for the run in given the absence of Pearson and now Cameron.

You kinda looked wank last week drawing 1–1, though we were equally wank, if you beat someone playing like that I’d be really really concerned for them

Yeah we’re wank, the standard down here is terrible and I hate it

Good job we had a very good middle half of the season, after 10 games we were in a relegation fight with just five points.

Haven't won in our last 10 games either but still somehow 13 points above relegation!
What's the feeling about Jolley now?

It's felt from the outside like he's worth persevering with, but the lack of goals and wild inconsistency but be giving people second thoughts on him.

Our players have given up the fight, in fact they did it long ago.

We desperately need someone like Carl Dickinson back to give the team some passion but the club ostracised him a couple of months ago so he will never play or even train for us again despite being contracted for another year. He watched yesterday's game at Crewe in the stand with the fans!
Dickinson seems a genuine good egg.
Vale fans took to him straight away despite coming from the arch enemy.
Always gave 150% effort and it was a shame he left.
Currently training with us to keep fit with a view to getting a club next season.

Think the fact he has been ostracised but still sat with your fans in the away end speaks volumes.

I wouldn't have him back at Vale again as age is against him but a real good pro who surely Yeovil need in the dressing room

Think some of our fans are, but then they do when we lose 1 never mind 10!

I think he still needs time, he's only had 1 season, what he is doing is building a young side and needs time, we also have a very low budget, probably around 15th/16th in the league. Even Fenty has acknowledged its low so it must be bad!

Hopefully he is backed a bit more in the summer and can continue to build a good side. Must remember from game 11 till about 30 we were on automatic form almost averaging 2 points a game, so he has something. Just needs that consistency and players who can both create and score goals. He also improved us a lot at home compared to last few seasons

So remains very much a work in progress but as long as we are patient I think he is onto some success, remains to be seen if the fans will remain patient. He definitely needs a better start to next season than this one.

As Frealaf says, it’s a lack of consistency I’ve fully checked up and the middle 25 games saw us get 42 points, sandwiched between runs of 5 point from 10 and 3 points from 8. The good run however, had players such as Ben Pringle, Elliott Embleton and Wes Thomas as constants in the team. At the beginning of the season and for the last few weeks, we haven’t had them.

Players like those probably were amongst the higher earners so it shows where the issue is. We simply don’t have the budget to spend on better L2 players. We probably would with some investment but that is never going to happen until JSF goes - he’s simply a millstone around the club’s neck.

I like Jolley - I like his trust in younger players and believe he’s brought in a few honest, hard working players (Hessenthaler, Hendrie, Öhman) but without good creative players, their efforts are wasted. I’m not worried about the defence and we have a decent keeper in McKeown. The attacking aspect of Jolley’s tenure has been deeply concerning however.

His legs had gone when we released him but I never doubted his professional commitment. Ostracising him sounds like bad management .

Still think Macc will get 4 points from 9 sending us and Yeovil down.
That's based on Notts getting a point at Crawley which I doubt we'll get.

Fair play to Macc and Sol if they do it - no hard feelings here. Although it’s not beyond the realms we can get something at Crawley (having won at FGR, Carlisle and Stevenage in the last couple of months) while Macc lose at home to Newport (probably the most impressive team at ML this season), especially if they have the injury problems outlined above. Which would put us into the box seat (unless Yeovil beat Colchester) going into a hugely out of form Grimsby at home, while Macc travel to John Askey’s Vale. To be honest, it feels scarcely believable we are still in it, this has been such a car crash of a season. There is a growing disconnect between the players/management and fans. But still in it we are. Monday is massive though - feels like it could be decisive one way or the other.

Be interesting to see how we approach the Macc Town game at the weekend as Askey worked hard to get them up in the first place and is a legend there. I can’t see him wanting to be the manager of the side who sends them down.

Can't see Askey picking the reserves and not trying to win even if he would like Macclesfield to stay up.
Notts are more than capable of doing them all the favours they need.

he might give the odd youth teamer a run out, but he will want to finish on a win given our dreadful home form this season.

As I said earlier I hope we do the right thing and play this properly. It’s only fair on Notts and Yeovil that we do and if the boot was on the other foot would hope that would be the same. That said Macc are more than capable anyway of getting something from us and my guess is they may well just do that.

Spot on. Our fans are scratching their heads at why he's been dumped. Someone said they'd heard he hit Darren Way but I don't know if there's any truth in that.

Given how he was forced out of Macc last summer, I'm sure he would love to get revenge on the owner by relegating us. I think we will just about survive though, if we end the season without a win in 5 games then we will have well and truly shot ourselves in the foot.

To be honest, it feels scarcely believable we are still in it, this has been such a car crash of a season
You could say this about all the bottom three clubs!! Luckily that means there are three of us who are equally bad. Any other season and we'd all be long gone.

I have had a couple of people say to me the new owners will take over on May 25th (give or take a couple of days). Apparently they were due to aquire the club mid April but AH stalled the takeover.

I’m still fearful the whole thing may depend upon our status. The VAT is due way before that too. And people are holding back ST money until they know if there will still be a club around next season!

Just read that you have won 2 of your last 14 games. That’s as shocking an indictment on us and Yeovil as much as yourselves!

And one of those wins was against Yeovil! The other win vs Exeter was good, and a point at Lincoln obviously very decent; other than that Campbell's not had us performing as good as we can in recent games. Crawley aren't very good and Grimsby have seemingly given up, so we're going to need to win 2 of our last 3 games. Expect us to be back in the bottom two after tomorrow's games, but need a repeat of the Exeter performance that we are capable of.

With stats like that you can't argue that whoever drops deserves it this season, no bad luck just pure rubbish for months on end.

The bottom 3 sides all deserve to go down, we're agreed on that, but imo there is an element of bad luck involved as one of the sides will stay up. Some will say that's only because ultimately said side was not as crap as the other two but I disagree.

Luck will certainly play a part when some sides will be on the beach by the time they play one of the bottom 3 sides, while others still got something to play for, like Col U and Newport tomorrow. But will Swindon and Carlisle still be in with a shout on the final day? I don't think Swindon will but Carlisle will take it to the final day imo.

Anyways, I think it all hinges on Macc v Newport. If Macc avoid defeat then they should stay up. I don't think they will though, as I fancy Newport to win the game.

Amazed we’ve left this thread, after the soul destroying home defeat v morecambe I thought we were a shoe in.
It’s been a terrible season again, unbelievably confirming our safety with a 4-1 home defeat.
Good luck to the three left.
Anyone who’s ever been amongst this thread has felt nothing but utter dread at what lies below, it’s very real for 2 of you.
Yeovil and Macc to go for me.

I'm hearing some very worrying allegations from trustworthy sources that our players have been partying a lot recently with the blessing of our new manager. On the piss two days before games and allegedly out til 3am last Saturday night. Training last Sunday morning was cancelled after 10 minutes because half the squad was hanging out their arse. Would explain the on-pitch shambles that we've become.
