Andy Cook in League 1, jesus.
Fair play to the guy. Was brilliant this season and did very well in 2016-17 and at Barrow before that.

Bit of a shock he's jumped two leagues but I think he'll be a really good player for them. Better service at that level remember and he's the best header of a ball I've seen at Rovers for years.

In a weird way, with him out of contract, I'd already presumed he was off anyway. I'd be devastated if Norwood went, but Cook was almost expected.

They paid Lois Maynard £1400, the guy couldn’t even pass the ball.

What went wrong then? I thought he was quite decent when he was at Halifax.

As for Salford, I can see where Conker's coming from as people do get carried away with player wages, but tbh I wouldn't be that surprised if they're really shelling out that kind of money. For starters, they simply have got to in order to persuade players to drop down a division or two.

Good at the basics, very brave, will always give 100% and put his body on the line, but can’t pass to save himself, but your manager will know him after having him at Shrewsbury.

As a defender he’ll be pretty decent if played alongside someone who can organise the back 4. He was shit for us with Raynes, slightly better alongside Gary Liddle, then very good beside Clint Hill.

My main gripe with him is he’s very rash at times, over commits to try to get to balls he can’t possibly, which have sometimes led to calamities.

But i’d say a good signing for you

And you base this on 7 matches? Presumably some of which were away from home. Unless of course you go to all the aways?

Back then as I was a lazy bone-idle student I used to go every game, he never made an impact in all 7 games I saw him play and was superseded by Ryan Colclough in the pecking order. Even when Colclough was lost due to injury, Brendan never got another look in at the club and was released in 2013 in favour of bringing young George Cooper into the fold.

Couldn't put it better myself on his pros and cons. That said, he was miles better than Harry Davis and should've been given a new contract at the club over that fraud in 2014. We paid £80,000 for him back in 2012 as well...

I'm a bit scared in posting this :bg: BUT Imps fans, now our triumphant first season back is over what are we expecting recruitment wise? Will Allsop stay? Will Wharton and Rowe grace the San Sincil again? Will Raggett return on a red and white elephant? Or will Akinola eventually get further than wearing the training gear?

Personally I think we will be busy and it's somewhat dependant on what method our glorious leaders will choose to go with.

I reckon:
1x LB
1 x RB
2/3 CB
1 x CM
2 x wingers
2 x ST

And a bit more cover generally as we got caught out towards the back end of this season with niggles.

I'd go along with that, when we had him last season on loan - The onus was on him to be the leader and organiser at the back as we had injuries, which he wasn't great at to be honest, he made a few rash errors.

Can head the ball well though, scored a bullet header for us at Wrexham to earn us a 2-2 draw.

Player of the Season Neal Eardley has signed a new two-year deal, which is a very, very good start to our summer business.

Been incredible since he signed and just seems to churn out 8/10's every week and probably tops the assists chart as well. Given he's spent the last two or three years injured, we've got 54 games out of him this season.

Yep, that's lifted any bit of sadness from last night already for me. Not only is he sound defensively, his set piece and overall assists are fantastic.

Andrew Fox signs 1 year extension. Very pleased with this. Did well when came in for last 10 games after previously playing for Jolley in Sweden. Wasn’t fully fit for the first few games either but a massive improvement on the waste of a wage that is Paul Dixon (thanks slade). With pre season under his belt should be a good asset next season.

Even more incredible was that he played for us in pre-season and the mastermind Michael Brown decided against a deal.

I’m delighted with that, it really surprised me just how good he was considering he was a free agent, as you say much better than Dixon so good start to the Summer business.

Callum Evans and Nathan Blissett confirmed signings after loan spells.

Also Tyrone Marsh agrees a new deal.
Whilst these are far from ground breaking signings, nor statement of intent, I'm happy to see us try to keep the majority of the core and add a bit more quality throughout the group.

Will be very interesting to see how many of the "core" do re sign though and what sort of additions SJA is going to need to recruit.

It's interesting to see what'll happen to Marsh if he's convicted of sexual assault in his upcoming trial.

Building on from what I said earlier in the week, it seems Fitzpatrick is our number 1 target for fullback now so it'll be interesting to see who he chooses out of both of us (or any other suitors should they materialise).

Yep, I'd expect there'll be some sort of break clause in there, or at least I'd like to think there is!

I'm mildly optimistic we'll keep hold of Fitz. He does have a full time job outside of playing for us, so with a better salary from us and his other income it would take a really good offer from elsewhere to get him. Under no illusion that is highly feasible though!

Or maybe he's not interested in the money and would prefer to give it one last shot at being a full time footballer? I mean, he's 28, so this would be his last chance.

I'm not hugely bothered if we do miss out to be honest. He's 28, has never played in the football league before. Plus the last 2 players we signed from Macclesfield were Lee Bell and Thierry Audel, both of whom were pretty poor. Not saying Fitzpatrick is the same, but our non-league track record has been poor in the last 5 or so years.

Plus we're only signing 2 full backs, neither are likely to move the needle for us all that much next season. Personally, I'd prefer to go after Danny Grainger at Carlisle. Things seem to be coming apart there with Hill, Joyce and Adams all leaving, plus no new man in place. Wages might be out of our range though.

Blissett looked alright when on loan. Gave us that physical presence we needed, and scored a couple of goals.

We'll see if JA can turn him into a league two player.

Rumour we are signing Ollie Banks on a perm after being on loan last season. Meh.

Was great for about 10 games and scored some important goals. Seemed to go off the boil a bit towards the end of his loan spell but wouldn’t be unhappy if we brought him in. Brown wants to play with wingers and getting the ball into the box, he’ll be handy as he is good in the air and tended to make decent runs into the penalty area so should be a good asset in this tactic.
