Stevenage should really be going for the play offs next season considering the budget they'll have.

Well you made the weird "stag do" metaphor, or whatever it was...
And I quite rightly pointed out that we are on a level playing field with you lot and that there is no way you can write anyone off in early June.

We've signed a young striker called Louis Robles.

Not a clue about him, was a youth player at Liverpool and Wigan but played in Spain most recently. Could be a gem, could be garbage, not a clue. Fits in well with SOC's stag do team, I just hope he's not the guy who gets pissed on the plane on the way and ends up shitting his pants.
He will be the first to chunder, but he will wake up fresh as a daisy on day two and source breakfast for us all.

We're being linked with moves for Joss Labadie and Jordan Turnbull on twitter. Labadie's crocked till January but seems we might be willing to take the risk. Turnbull was at Swindon under Cooper.

Preseason, the pressures off, no league table to scan over or avoid, fans of last season’s struggles feel temporarily rejuvenated and transfer rumours aplenty.

They say “it’s the hope that kills you”, summer for the majority of football fans

Joss Labadie is the very definition of ‘taking a risk’. Good luck with that one if he puts pen to paper

Bury sign midfielder Byron Moore. Previously of Crewe, Port Vale and Bristol Rovers.

Wouldn't expect much from him, typical lower league player. He's a 1 good game in 5 type winger, doesn't really seem to give a shit about football. Unless of course he's become way better sitting on the Bristol Rovers bench.

Byron was meh for us, to be honest the day he signed he found his brothers body after he killed himself so missed the first pre season and wasn’t really in the right place after that.

He was one of those Crewe players who seemed to up his game against us but didn’t really produce in the Black and White.

He played as an attacking midfielder for us.

He was clearly talented and had a lovely left foot at times - but his application failed to match his undoubted skills.

Surprised he's playing international football and back being linked with a decent level to be honest - but if he's sorted his attitude out he could certainly be a good player.

I thought his physicality was as much of an issue as his attitude to be honest. He looked like he was running through superglue and was so easy to knock off the ball.

Probably comes down to the same thing though. If having to move back to the Irish league has been enough of a shock to him to start putting the effort in and get himself fit, he was obviously talented. Great left foot.

We’ve signed another one, incidentally - 19 year old attacking midfielder Will Patching from Manchester City.

Got some bite in him, ahem...

We have signed Will Patching, (another central midfielder) from Man City. Looks like one for the development squad...

Our new gaffer has said he has some “top targets” during his first press call today. I guess you’d expect him to say that really but sounds good nonetheless.

We had O'Connor on loan for a short spell about 10 years ago under Peter Jackson and was a stand-out in our midfield at the time, so it was no surprise he ended up in the Championship and L1 for the most part. I'm assuming he played with Frecklington for 2 or 3 years as well.

He's 32 now, so with him, Freck and Bostwick, that an, erm, experienced midfield albeit a good one. We're apparently in for Anthony Grant from Posh as well, and he's 31!
Anthony grant was awesome at vale

On O’Connor, I think Curtis is just putting two and two together with the Lincoln thing, but the fact he hasn’t signed yet suggests that he’s considering his options.

He was basically our top earner and it’s only sensible that we’d have offered him a reduced wage after more than a season out with a serious injury. Whether Lincoln (or anyone else) would match that wage under those circumstances I also doubt, but don’t blame him for finding out particularly.

I’m going to officially write off a L2 side for the 2018/19 season in July!

I will do this with a fair chunk of confidence. They will then be ‘written off’ for the upcoming season!

See the prediction thread you started. In May.
You see the thing with doing a prediction table, Chrissy, is that no matter hard you try to do so it is impossible to put all 24 teams in the auto/playoff spots. It might be difficult for you to comprehend but that thread I started a few days after the playoff final isn't the be all and end all of L2 forum predictions.

James Norwood linked to Burton, Portsmouth and Shrewsbury.

Would take a crazy figure for Tranmere to accept a bid(I hope), especially given the lack of realistic options to replace him.

Heard a very credible rumour that our former shithouse centre half Harry Davis is set to sign for Grimsby.

He left St Mirren as he wished to return to England and also knows Michael Jolley from his time at Crewe so it'd definitely make sense.

My thoughts? You could do a lot, lot better Grimsby. Hopefully you won't make him your highest paid player with ridiculous bonuses too like his Dad did here...

Did well at St Mirren by all accounts but it was the Scottish Championship....

Not enthralled by the signings so far but in Jolley we trust etc.

I will take to my grave the opinion that Davis wasn't anywhere near as bad as some made/make out. Yeah sure he wasn't great, but I don't remember long spells when he was a liability.

Yeah, he struggled when he was thrown in at RB during his early years under Dario, but I don't see why he should get the blame for his dad giving him a hefty contract.

Lets remember during the years 2013-16, he had no support around him, as there was a revolving door of other defenders(Ellis, Ray, Nugent, a handful of loanees, not to mention full backs), he had a shocking manager, he played in a poor team and he was made captain by said manager/dad, which in itself was a joke. He also spent a long time out injured, so that could be a factor as his career goes on.

I think under a proper manager, which Jolley might or might not be, and with a decent supporting cast around him, he could be a reasonable signing for Grimsby. If it happens of course.

Sounds like a decent signing this does. Seems we’ve been watching him for a while. I expect a few more signings from the leagues below us. If he comes and is half as good as Hannant has been since January then he will do well for us.
Box to box midfielder who can attack and defend well. He can also cover at right back.
You are easily pleased Dave, Hannant was ok and better than what we had but hardly inspirational. I hope they can forge a good partnership however and Luke can find Emanuel in space.:bg:

Imagine my disappointment that it’s not his also useless brother they are signing instead.

Someone told me earlier about Harry Davis but I didn’t put it on here because last pre season most rumours I got told were nearly all bollocks, Davis a done deal though so I’ve been told.

Clear that some Grimsby fans are struggling to come to terms with the fact that they're pretty much anonymous in this division. Not a force, not a threat, nobody's going to have heard of most of their signings and nobody's particularly bothered. They admit they won't be a threat but get offended when other fans say it?

Whitehouse would be a cracking signing for the cods. Top player even better attitude.

Eagerly await our signings. Hoping for 2 quality strikers. Dennis a decent punt for County.

Sounds like a description of Lincoln City F.C seasons 2011/12 - 2015/16.

That ex agent twitter account who’s got a fair bit right already claims there will be a big L2 signing today. We’ve been linked with absolutely no one so doubt it will be us.
