The best player I've seen at the Abbey this season. Why are Bury letting him go?

If we do let him go it will be to a team higher up, certainly won't be to a village team.

We said same about Doidge and think chairman thought it too but couldn't stand in his way. You'd be in a better position than us on that score as not a tiny newbie club but still might be a factor, no?
Tranmeres turnover this season is going to be around £9m. What is it at FGR, £3m tops? We can afford to reject.

Also worth keeping in mind we can’t realistically replace him unless there’s an out of favour championship/league one player desperate for some game time.

When you signed him I didn't think it would work out for both of you as I said at the time. Mansfield fans loved Green but he just didn't quite have it in him for a side going for promotion which is the aim for both of us.

I'm pleased that he's found somewhere where he'll prosper more (him and Rooney upfront in the conference! wow).
It probably did work out for both of us in the end given where we were both at.

Green got first team football locally again and we got a striker who scored goals at L2 level, which gave us a chance of the PO's and enabled us to improve the squad again. We were never going to be able to go out and get an Akinde type of striker last season.

Was not Doidge sold in the summer window though ? If we let Norwood go in January we would get nowhere near his true value and would have no prospect of replacing him, so I can't see it happening.

I think the only way we would let him go is in of those 'sale and leaseback' deals, where the player comes back on loan until the end of the season.

Haha, 'twas only a little forum in-joke, like we tend to have on this board when some forum member decides that any L2 player deserves his own thread!

Seriously though, yeah he was good in that 2-2 draw wasn't he. At first I thought he was only an improved version of Tom Champion (ie. better at sideways passing) but I changed my mind as the game wore on.

Hes very good when the challenges are not industrial, on a heavy pitch with a savvy defender hes not so good.

Fleetwood have confirmed they've received a bid for a player currently out on loan. They've a few players out on loan, but of them Nadesan is probably the stand-out performer so it's likely to be for him. One other's at Wrexham and one at Crawley so don't know how they're doing but the other one, Sowerby, is with us and while he's been good and we're wanting to extend his loan I can't imagine people are trying to sign him.

I wonder if it's someone in this division with a need for a striker and money to burn *cough FGR cough* though it could potentially be just us making a cheeky offer which is unlikely to come anywhere near Fleetwood's valuing of him, but nothing ventured...

Maguire (a left back) is playing regularly at Crawley so it's possible we have made a bid but I wouldn't put any money on it.

Besides, he is a Scouser so it's a long way from home, and property prices round here are enough to cure constipation.

We’ve given you James Alabi already :ffs:
 He has performed as I expected as well. He has his uses and has contributed in places, but we're going to need better.

Glad you added that last bit because Danny Mayor is literally nothing like Tom champion in any sense

We’re being linked with Blackburn midfielder Willem Tomlinson who’s been told he can leave in January. It’s a position we need more depth in so could be a goer. Apparently he trained with us earlier this season.

Rumour on exeweb is Stockley to Ipswich, Sunderland or Pompey. £750k - 1 mil price range.

We will need another first choice number 9 who is capable of banging in 20 a season in that case. Any suggestions?

He’ll be gone. I wouldn’t begrudge him a move in the slightest, on two conditions:

a) Don’t want him to go to MK which has also been rumoured. Anyone else (other than Argyle) is fine.

b) If he goes in Jan I hope it’s earlier rather than later as we don’t want to be left with no time to replace him.

In terms of replacements, fuck knows. It depends on whether Taylor would go for a Stockley type player or if he went for smaller type of striker. I’d be keen to look at somebody at a Championship club looking for a break at first team football. Surridge at Oldham is an example of the sort of player i’d welcome.

If he goes next month I can’t see us going up, he’s too key for us.

Tough on Exeter but he’s clearly too good for this league. I was sceptical when you paid a decent fee for him but he was superb at our place last season in your 2-1 win.

At least you might get a bidding war to bump the price up.

To add fuel to the fire re Stockley leaving this month, we’re rumoured to have had a bid accepted for Motherwell striker Ryan Bowman. He seems like a ‘Stockley’ type of player but just not as good, but then we’re never going to sign a replacement on the same level.

He’s got a decent scoring record at National League level and scored 10 last season in the SPL so may have something.

Apparently another L2 club showing an interest to could be all hot air. We shall see.

We had a bid rejected in the summer so it could be that we are back on for him
That would make sense. Any idea how much your bid in the summer was?

Apparently it’s a 5 figure bid that’s been accepted but he’s out of contract in the summer so I’d expect it to be no more than £50k

Ours was also 5 figures but apparently nowhere near enough for Motherwell to consider. Not sure if we went back to increase it or whether we were so far of their valuation we didn’t bother.

Salford looking at Elliot Hewitt from Notts County. Was with us when he was 16/17- never really pushed on. Still plenty of time to fulfil his potential mind.

He didn't look good enough for League Two on yesterday's showing.

Bizarre one. He was quite good last year alongside the exceptional Ryan Yates, but has been disappointing this term (last most of last season’s top performers).

Expect pretty big changes at our place as we roll the dice in a bid to stay in the league. The problem is who would take any of the current lot? And want to join a club rooted to the bottom of the league?

Rumours abound that Ollie Palmer is off in January.

If true I would expect him to get a clause in his contract that he starts games as the only reason he came to us was to play and therefore prove he was good enough to play higher. I think he has proved that but a horrible December may have hurt his cause. Five game ban followed a one game ban and a niggly injury lay off means he has fallen down the top scorer charts.

We have attracted good forwards lately (sold them for good money anyway) but if you sell too many assets it will hurt eventually.

Wait...what? Ollie Palmer thinks he is good enough to play higher than L2? Wow. I mean, yeah he had a couple of good months but come on? He should be thankful he's doing well where he is and stay put surely?

Yeah, Ollie Palmer improved quite a lot for us last season. He was a far better player when he left but he's not top end L2, never mind L1.
