If anyone wants a useless striker, we’ve released Calum Dyson. 1 season, 2 appearances, both in the Checkatrade trophy, 0 goals. Absolutely useless.
To be fair he did ‘ok’ with us when we had him. Not brilliant but we’ve had a lot lot worse. Scored a few goals, although good percentage were penalties.

There have been fairly tenuous rumours that we are in for Matty Taylor, as much as I don't believe it the rumour won't go away and a few of our inside sources have started to not rule it out and have said they have heard his name mentioned too...

Still ain't buying it but just imagine

Been told that we will be signing George Marsh on loan from Spurs, no idea how long for and he's a ball winning midfielder.

Hopefully he can turn out as good as the last 4 we had on loan from Spurs - Harry Kane, Andros Townsend, Tom Carroll and Paul Jose M'Poku....................

Askey managed him when he was in the youth team at Macc
Sadly becoming both a joke and boring.
Most managers dip into the well of ex players but this is becoming ridiculous.
Released by a team relegated to non league with a shocking defence.

Port vale,,,, please come for a trial if you are within an hour drive and Mr Askey knows you

Us and Swindon after Jamie Devitt on loan apparently. From Blackpool.

I'd be shocked if Taylor dropped to League Two. I get the Clarke link, but that's about it isn't it? If his agent has even one brain cell, if Bristol City are willing to let him out on loan, they'll be a host of L1 clubs queuing up ready to sign him.

Although, he is 2 1/2 years removed from his prolific scoring days at Bristol Rovers. So who knows whether he can recapture that form.

Glad to see the back of Doyle. Yes we maybe didn't play to his strengths but hes been appalling on the whole. 300k fee and 5k a week has been a very expensive mistake.
Good to get him off the wage bill and hopefully bring in a couple that will improve the team.

As is often the case some players work at one club and not others and I'm hopeful that Doyle can find his feet again under Wellens (where he scored 10 in 11 games for Oldham under him before at one stage). Certainly scoring on his debut at Exeter will give him confidence and I'll be watching the Tuesday night game on Ifollow to get my own view of him.

Clearly he wasn't good at both Preston and Bradford but I reckon we can get a tune out of him. It will be interesting to see how him and Jerry Yates do as a pair.

And today he signs for Oxford. He was never dropping to L2.

By the sounds of it from Carlisle fans Devitt has improved a lot since he was last with us.

Does he play Left Wing?

Curious one with Devitt. Just signed in the summer for Blackpool, presumably before Grayson was appointed?. Sounds like he is not Grayson's cup of tea, if they are prepared to let him go already

I think the issue with Devitt is that if you're going to get the best out of him then you have to build a team around him in the number 10 role. But that's never going to happen with a side going for promotion in L1. He's good, but he's not that good.

Steven Pressley said as much recently.

We're crying out for Devitt right now, he could be that creative link we need between midfield and attack. Shame it's all the clubs with a ridiculous amount of attacking players already at their disposal and hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of money that they may or may not actually have that are the ones sniffing around him.

Typical our fans sniggering at potentially signing Devitt. He was poor for us about 8/9 years ago in a horrific side but they completely overlook his last few years at Carlisle. I'd be delighted with him personally but I think we need a defensive mid more urgently than a creative one.

Mainly the money though. If you think you're signing players over us because they're gagging to live and work in the cosmopolitan metropolis of Swindon then you're more than slightly deluded.
Decent transport links to London is all anyone needs in their life. And the magic roundabout.

I would imagine that quite a few of our players commute from London which is probably a draw for a good number of players.

Or not, I have no idea really but I did see Michael Doughty in his STFC tracksuit last season on the tube so think he commutes from the big smoke.

Some of the countryside outside of Swindon is pretty nice, the Town itself is a midden, granted

He’s Irish. He likes to be in the north west, ideally. Offering more money has seen us lose out on Devitt, Maynard, Mayor etc already. It’s not just you.

Just to confirm, do Grimsby think they’re a bigger club than Swindon? Asking for a friend.

Nice. I saw Emiliano Rigoni on the train in Italy a few months ago.

Classic Bradford fan question. I would say Swindon are bigger than us. Bigger ground, slightly bigger average attendances, one of the few clubs in the division with a better league record than us over the past 25 years or so, bigger budget. Definitely bigger, but there isn't a huge difference.
