Agreed, Luton too were always big spenders. The likes of Plymouth and Doncaster too.

I guess Mansfield, MK Dons, Northampton and Notts County will have the biggest budgets? Perhaps the likes of Swindon and Forest Green too? I’ve got no feel for what Bury, Oldham and Tranmere will be spending compared to the rest of the league?

Our chairman's suggested a top third budget again.

Having seen how south-based the NL is next year, feel even happier Rovers are back in the FL. Lack of Yorksha sides in L2 mean Oldham is my 'home' fixture, but although have been to Boundary Park before, not seen Rovers play there, so one to cross off. Been to about half the grounds in this league, so will try and chip off a few more in the coming season, so long as the fixtures fall kindly for us.

For us I'd be happy with a mid table finish but if we can challenge for the playoffs then I'd be made up. Most looking forward to seeing the away end at Prenton Park look quite full for a number of games including Bury, Oldham and Crewe! Makes a change from the 12 from Gateshead!

Sounds about right. 1.3 million last year and a 50% increase.

The Vanarama is such a strange league for the travelling supporter. A glut of teams in the south east and hardly any in the midlands or the major towns and cities in the north. Matches against Notts County and Lincoln seem like derbies after three seasons spent down there.

Newport will be the only new ground for me next season, but looking forward to the away days nonetheless.

The club still expect the average visiting support to increase fourfold. Other than Wrexham and Chester, only four teams brought more than 200 fans last season.

We'll probably bring a decent following anyway, if we're not doing well then for many it'll just be a trip out to a decent ground, well placed for a weekender with a good atmosphere for away fans. Our away attendances tend not to be overly affected by our performance.

We have an obscure rival in York City, but it’s a genuine rivalry due to history between the two clubs.. is it the same deal with Oldham and Tranmere or is it born out of desperation for a rival?

From what I’ve seen, Tranmere fans seem just as keen to play the likes of Bury, Crewe and Macclesfield etc as they do Oldham, and I’d have thought there’s more animosity towards Wrexham and Chester from Tranmere’s side than towards Oldham.

Not actually too sure.

Our support has actually been reinvigorated by our drop into non league, our away support there was actually higher than most of our time in league one.. we'll take plenty of 1500+ followings this season I'd imagine.

It helps I suppose when you’re winning most weeks in the conference, naturally more fans will be inclined to follow the team away from home.

Plus for some reason, the big fish in the small pond effect does seem to improve support in some cases I’ve found.

Assuming the 500 was a Tuesday night estimate? Perhaps not though.

Depending on how we’re doing, when abouts in the season, I can see us taking around 2k next season.

On the flip side, Bury usually take decent numbers to Crewe, taken 750-1,000 numerous times over the years... so what gives? Hop on the train into Manchester and then a short tram ride into Bury, probably one of Crewe’s easiest away trips.

A Tranmere fan who used to come in work said the Clint Hill thing was what started him hating us. For me it was always the Ian and Ronnie Moore factor. Despite UTS comments about beign desperate for a rival, i dont really care about Bury or Rochdale. Ive always had a dislike for Tranmere though and I would class them more as our rivals.

The green areas represent from dark to light green, travel times from each club in 5 minute intervals up to a maximum of 45 minutes. You can see this most clearly with Crawley and Carlisle where there isn't much overlapping with other clubs so it's just one set of rings that get lighter the further out they go.

Where clubs overlap the colour of the contours stack together and it gets darker in colour so you can easily see where the concentrations are, you can even pick out some of the major roads since travel time countours extend further along them making them darker.

Quite like the shape of the league this coming season, only really Morecambe within a short distance but then quite a few decent trips such as Tranmere, Oldham, Bury etc. Hopefully we have a good season and take some solid followings.
