Knew it wouldn't be long before they sacked the clueless twat. He started off so well too. So the Barnsley manager who has not long signed an improved extension, and is a Barnsley fan himself, has taken the Leeds job? That wouldn't sit right with me, if I was a Barnsley fan. I understand Leeds are a big club, but fuck that, all he has to do is have a bad start, or run, and he will be out.

How've you concluded he's clueless?

Let's be right, from last season Leeds have lost Green, Bartley, Taylor and Wood and Orta replaced them with Wiedwald (shit), Pennington (average), CBJ (barely even played a game for Leeds and has already been sent back) and Lasogga (lazy as fuck).

Part of the reason Monk went is because he didn't want to work under the setup at the club. TC was dealt a shit hand and did a very good job with what he had, the Leeds fans and board who actually believe that they have a top six squad are as thick as the fans on Twitter who believed they'd attract Dyche or Silva.

Ok, he just come across clueless. The fact that he irritated me plays a part on my view. Leeds is a big job for small time managers. They couldn't attract a big name manager at the moment.

It doesn't sit right really but I'm not going to kick up a fuss. He gave me the best year I've ever had supporting BFC in 2016, but since Jan 2017 it's been worse than crap, under admittedly difficult circumstances. A fresh face at the helm for us might turn out to be a good thing.

If Leeds want to 'poach' a manager whos won 1 of his last 16 games and has a 16% win ratio since Jan 2017, let them do it.

Crazy how quickly a manager's stock can change, not long ago Heckingbottom had full hero status and Barnsley fans were dreading him leaving.

You can't blame managers for showing disloyalty when their stock is high.

Fair enough. Leeds haven't been able to attract managers for years, they got turned down by Darrell Clarke and Karl Robinson the other year. They're not a huge club anymore, they're just viewed as the rest of us now in the Championship.

Why? I'd take the job, if I were offered more money and far more potential prospects. He may support the club but the new owners only thought he was worth a rolling contract, says to me he'd be gone in a flash if they don't improve. Leeds is a huge risk, like with Sunderland, but these challenges play on a managers ego. Chance to "awake a sleeping giant", is far more appealing than doing ok at a club the size of Bradford, Preston or Barnsley.

I'm not in his shoes, so I don't know. I definitely wouldn't leave villa for Leeds that's for sure, but maybe his eyes have been opened as you say to restore the fortunes of a sleeping giant.

Leeds aren’t out of the race for the play-offs just yet.

Can’t blame any manager for wanting to have a crack at that with a big club rather than scrapping it out at the other end. I’m sure the new payslip played its part too.

I’m more interested in seeing what happens to Barnsley now. As already said, depending on who they bring in this could end up saving their season or it could go completely the other way and condemn them.

It has nothing to do with waking a "sleeping giant" and everything to do with the aforementioned rolling contract. His team is in awful form and he's leaving before he gets sacked. He's hugely popular with the fans which is probably why the new board were reluctant to sack him. If he wasn't a popular local fan of the club still riding the good vibe waves of a mostly good last couple of years he'd probably have been sacked by now. This has come at a perfect time for both Heckingbottom and the new board, who will no doubt want to bring in their own man.

I love the guy and there is no hard feelings from me whatsoever, in fact I hope he's successful if and when he's appointed Leeds manager.

Leeds are still a huge club and PH must have had some guarantees given he left the clusterfuck known as Sunderland alone despite them offering to triple his wages.

Confirmed. £500k compo not bad.

Also taken half his backroom staff with him including a couple of other local Barnsley fans. Definitely something iffy going on at Oakwell at the moment.

Can't fault that given he'd have been due compo if you'd sacked him which wasn't far off in my opinion, makes Saturday more difficult for us.

Good bloke Heckingbottom and a decent young manager. Leeds will give him 6 months and that's it.
