And all the gripes from the Swindon pre match message board was about how they would have to be up for the game to not get bullied by our aggressive and dirty play, they then go on and hack Andrade down 3-4 times because they simply could not stop him by fair play. At the same time they hoof the ball to the 6 foot 5 Adebayo whilst deriding us hoofing it even though we mixed it up well.

Still think we lack legs and give away far too much space in CM and I reckon Bostwick negates us being competitive there when he plays at CB instead. All in all though 6 points against two sides that should be in the mix is a cracking start.

So after this terrific win for Lincoln what does Impish go and do?
He posts on the Grimsby thread first, with his own teams thread a mere afterthought despite a great 4-1 victory against a promotion rival.
What a complete and utter twat.

Was a good day at the office today.

Attacking wise, we have options we didn't have last season- it is a marathon not a sprint and two wins out of two means we have 44 games to go.

But for today, I'll take a good win against a Swindon side that looked strong in midfield and controlled the ball really well.

You do seem a bit obsessed with him. As much as Impish likes to post on Grimsby-related threads, you lot are equally quick to bring him into conversation in our threads too.

4-2-3-1 with O'Connor and Freck in CM with McCartan ahead of them.

Not as solid as we have been previously but on the flip side, it meant we countered quickly and created chances.

In DC radio interview, it was clear this was a formation for a given game (pacey wingers against ageing slow defenders) and it may not be our regular line-up. In fact, we may not have a regular formation!

Game plan worked really well today- little slack in getting back control of the game 15 mins either side of half time but overall was a cracking performance.

Oh, btw, any team that comes out to The Stone Roses is top bollocks in my book.

Hated getting tonked 4-1 obviously but I’ve got a lot of respect for Lincoln after yesterday. The hoofball that I’ve banged on about was virtually absent. Can’t see how they won’t win this league at a canter.

Good result for Lincoln, surprised to come in here and see that you played a bit differently though as it looked like scrappy goals that won it. Will be interesting to see how you setup next weekend.
He isn't fully match fit yet, same goes for O'Connor.
Why isn't Akinde match fit? He was match fit at the end of the season and hasn't been injured since, has he?

Big john hmmm.... Definitely more involved yesterday and I can see he's sharper now than the two friendlies I saw him.

No, but he didn't have much of a pre-season at Barnet while we were sorting his signing out and didn't play many match minutes in pre-season here either.

I thought similar to you at HT. We'd played some really good stuff, created chances yet scored from a penalty and corner.

The third was a good move but the highlights only showed the latter stages of it.

Sounds like we got absolutely creamed. Not sure where that leaves us, looked good against relegation favourites and bad against promotion favourites... so somewhere in between. I can just about stomach losing to Lincoln as it seems like they are going to be right up there this season, I just hope we can get organised sooner rather than later and make a good go of it ourselves.

As was the fourth.
Great to see Anderson and Andrade running at defenders wasn't it?

Long way to go but a very promising display and can see we still have plenty of room to improve as I thought 4-1 flattered us a bit but Swindon's defending was poor at times.
As others have we were cruising at 2-0 and maybe took our foot off the gas although Swindon's route back in was a very dubious penalty certainly from where I was sat. Until we made our changes thought Swindon were controlling the second half without really creating very much, most of their best moments came through Doughty.
Once we made the changes we regained control and won it pretty easily.
This could be the big difference for us this season over last as it looks like we have far more options to change it when we lose our way but its far too early to tell.

Can’t comment on our pen, but yours was never a pen and we should have a 2nd in the second half - stonewall handball.

Not that it made much difference, really. Deserved nothing.

Parking will be a nightmare, so if you get there early you might get in a side street. The South Common is mainly all pre-paid parking this season so that's probably a no-go.

There's a multistory car park about a 10 minute walk from the Stadium within the Transport Hub (LN5 7BP).

Drink wise, the Square Sail on the Brayford has been the nominated away pub for the last couple of seasons I think. If that's still the case, best to park in the multistory next to that (Lucy Tower - LN1 1XL). That's a short walk onto the high street, too.

Tonnes of pubs on the high-street and on the way to the Stadium. Depends what kind of pub you're after, though?
Parked no trouble in the unfortunately named Scorer Street.

Started with a couple in The Grill while not exactly upmarket the rough looking clientele were very friendly.

Ended up in The Ritz.

Decent day ruined by watching our shower of shite

Yeah, it's a good away day Lincoln. One the worst things about having them as rivals is that it's almost not worth the potential trouble going round the pubs as a Town fan. I've gone in colours the last few times and not bothered with beers in town. Think I'll go in my normal clothes and have a few this season though.

Now that did look a handball and I'm at the other end of the ground, the ref did make some odd decisions.
Failed to play advantage for both teams in first half but the lino in front of the Coop stand gave you guys a corner after your guy ran the ball out of play.
Yeah I thought Anderson was tripped just outside the area but I'm in the block of the Coop stand that's furthermost from that end , block one lower.

The transfer window signings are, so far, showing their benefits- options on the bench, formation options (would never have seen Anderson and Andrade starting this game as wingers), stronger midfield, stronger defence and stronger attack than last season.

It's only game 2 and everything could come off the rails- that's football. Not sure if playing you early is a good or bad thing. We were not great at Northampton and squeezed 3 points, yesterday we were very strong for periods of the game and earned 3 points. Last week was probably not your best performance of the season whereas 3 points yesterday at Macc was a very good result.

Local rivalry does a lot to unpick teams- going to be a slow week to get to next Saturday for the Lincolnshire derby.

I think it suits us better than you, but yeah this is something I've been thinking about too. Got the match thread ball rolling now though, so I'm sure we'll be mulling it over all week.

Worry about the derby after the cup game, important game for those who haven't started yet to show the management they deserve a start like Andrade and Anderson did in the practice game last week.
