A nice attempt to claim your new found support as earlier but we all know that the Ipswich game was actually January and not December. ;)
We were formed on 5th December 2016 when 7000 turned up for the 2nd round tie v Oldham, only 5000 went to Ipswich, ;)

Yep you're right actually, this game the day before was what swung it for Impish to switch to Lincoln, so furious was he that Man Utd had conceded late to bloody Everton.

And a banner too?
The Council have banned all that from this season because of all the plastic flying around the place for days after.

Big part of the history in this neck of the woods!

If the council are trying to rid Lincoln of plastic they need to get to Sincil Bank and kick 7000 fans out of town.

Boom Boom! :woot:

Not bad from you, not bad. The more plastic we get the more gold coins we get, aim of the game right.

Play well > more fans > more money > better signings > promotion

Grimsby's model:

Play poorly > fans turn on manager > fire manager > hire manager > play poorly > fans turn on manager > fire manager

Any word on who is taking the armband at Lincoln now Waterfall has gone? I'm guessing one of the CMs?

After last weeks smash and grab would happily take a point from Swindon who will undoubtedly be in play-off contention this year.

By all accounts our team hasn’t gelled particularly well and will probably take a few weeks to become the well oiled machine Cowley likes.

Ah, so the Lincoln model from 2011-2016.

Even though we were top 5 for 4 seasons running and kept Hurst on for 5.5 years? As we’ve been through a few times, ‘footballing fortunes’ can change just like that.

Lincoln have gone a bit too far though, assigning messiah status to the Cowleys with many fans refusing to even contemplate the possibility that there might be some flaws in their work.

Whilst you have Fenty there will be no change.

On to the game, we've gone 4-2-3-1, looks an exciting, attacking team with a strong bench.

You think this, of course there are flaws like there are in us all. They have less than our recent competitors hence our good football fortune.

Yeah I figured it might, much like the hooter we sound as the teams come out.

Unchanged side for us today, happy with that after Tuesday and thinking we'd picked up injuries already.

2-1 down at half time. Sounds like we're lucky to be alive.

4-1 with subs contributing too. This so the strongest squad we have had in my time watching the Imps (since the mid-90s). Looking like an exciting season ahead!

Fucking hell.

We’re actually pretty good! 4-1 May be a bit flattering, but first half we were incredible. Both penalties seemed pretty soft to me. Second half Swindon got more involved but we blew them away with our substitutes. Never in my 2 years of supporting the imps have I seen such a strong squad.

Exciting season ahead.

Well, no-one can accuse us of hoof ball after that. Whether it stays remains to be seen and whilst we looked a little shaky playing it out from the back at times, it certainly wasn't the long diagonal's or balls into the channels.

Swindon had more of the ball before our penalty as Anderson ran basically the full length of the pitch and was brought down just inside the area. Akinde-pen with a calm finish.

Second ball set piece goal for Bostwick and we're cruising.

Swindon get back in the game, probably undeservedly via a penalty of their own where the ref's blown his whistle, the ground went quiet thinking it was a GK and it took the Swindon fans a good 10/15 seconds to realise what had happened. It looked on first viewing that it hit his thigh, or at the very worst, hit his thigh and his hand.

Second half Swindon again had their fair share of possession but it was easy to defend as they passed sideways and sideways without any probing.

Our third following a good move settled the nerves, and quite how our LB found himself in their penalty area in the 80th minute or whatever it was, I'm not sure.

A Green half volley soon after to finish it off as we sat well back in the final 10 minutes, although Swindon had the lost the plot at the back and I think we could've ended up with another had we gone for it.

Clinical from us with enough pace, flair and skill without compromising the strength and power that's got us to where we are. It's clearly a very technical side with Freck, Akinde, Andrade, Anderson, McCartan etc.

Swindon were akin to the good looking bird you seen in the bar that turns out of have nothing about her. It's all nice and idealistic, as I call it, but it's no good being pretty and passing it nicely if there's no substance to it. It's easy to defend against.

Doughty flitted between their best player, willing to drive forward, but at times their worse by taking too many touches and trying to do everything himself.

Matt Taylor vs Harry Anderson was a complete mis-match out wide and Anderson skinned him time and time again.

How we manage to replace good players with even better ones is beyond me.

Didn't go today but heard that McCartan was good, and that when Jason Shackell came on we looked a lot more sure at the back, that correct?

McCartan was what we wanted Knott to be last season. He picked up the ball on the half turn all the time and was jinking past players.

It wasn't really Shackell's introduction, it was more moving Bostwick back into CM because O'Connor was tiring due to lack of game time and they were getting in behind him and Freck more often. That, and bringing Pett on for McCartan, which helped as well. We went from two in midfield and no-one sitting to three in midfield with Bostwick sitting.

That was complete chalk and cheese when compared with last week.

We had a shaky first half of the second half but were able to respond with some really strong performances from the bench.

We played some really good stuff - attacking with intent. Lots of really positive performances - O'Connor, McCartan, Anderson, Andrade and Bossy standing out. Vickers had a one-on-one but other than that not a lot to do. I thought their penalty was really harsh and they didn't deserve it going into the break.

If I had a criticism of last season it was that we didn't create enough chances. Today there were chances galore - really well worked chances as well.

That's the benchmark set.

Yeah good shout about knott that's true. McCartan looks an intelligent player with little fear when on the ball. Bodes well.

Loving all the options we have at our disposal. Swindon were starting to get on top at 2-1 on the hour, we needed changes and DC made the perfect ones at the perfect time. Totally blew them away in the last 20 minutes.

As an attacking unit we've surely got the strongest in the league. Akinde Green Andrade Anderson McCartan Rhead Pett.. Exciting season ahead.
