According to Winner Sport "Talks are taking place" over a planned takeover of Liverpool FC by the house of Al Maktoum (Royal family of Dubai).

Winner Sport say, The Club and Marwan Abedin, who is on the board of Dubai's biggest property developer, had progressed in the past several weeks. The investor group is backed by Dubai's Al Maktoum royal family. Sources close to the club say Liverpool's owners are looking to cash in after the Premier League struck a record 5 billion deal with the broadcasters.

John W Henry now believes there is no longer a level playing field after the UEFA president Michel Platini said Financial Fair play (FPP) regulations will be eased. A source told Winner Sport that "Mr Henry is disillusioned and frustrated.

This will be a big change for the club and will give them the money in the transfer market to rebuilt the club and make sure the glory days return to the Anfield.

I live in Dubai and haven't heard anything about this yet. It's just a rumor.

I think Henry will prefer to make the money he's invested back and then sell the club, but even then it's doubtful.. He is running a sports investment company after all.

In all seriousness, I'm surprised that neither Liverpool or Everton have been seriously looked at by some mega rich groups as yet.

Liverpool are like the the old slag you seen in the " dig em up dance" nightclubs everyone ends up in on a saturday night when chucked out the good ones.

They have pissed away that much money on trying to buy the league it's unreal.

We don't want to become a plastic club like Liverpool and Chelsea with plastic fans.:fish:

Something tells me Henry and co. are in for the long haul, hence the work at Anfield and going out their way to bring Klopp in etc. As such I can't see this being anything more than bullshit paper talk. However, it would be churlish to suggest someone with more money than sense looking for a Manchester Cityesque hobby offering to triple FSG's initial investment wouldn't be considered. I'm happy as things are though. Expenditure with zero consideration of operating income isn't how to run a football club in my view, and I can certainly see it diluting the enjoyment of future success for me.

Ugh I hope this isn't true. I wouldn't be surprised if FSG sell us if they can see profit. After all, they are businessmen.

The Star, The Express and The Metro.

The lowly trinity.

Isn't FSG primarily a sports investment company? Obviously they'll sell eventually and they'll earn a great profit for the price they picked Liverpool up for. For now I think their goal is making their teams successful, reaping the financial rewards of that and building the reputation of the core company.

Looks more and more likely that the takeover is real.

Chinese takeover?

An investment group supported by the Chinese state government is attempting to purchase Liverpool for £700million, The Independent can reveal.

It has emerged that Liverpool’s owners Fenway Sports Group have been aware of the proposal from SinoFortone since March.

SinoFortone, who are fronted by managing director Peter Zhang, has committed £5.2billion towards new projects in the UK over the last 12 months.

A Norweigan reporter overheard Jordan Henderson saying he fancies a Chinese takeaway, misheard it and then reported it.

Nothing to see here.

If The Anfield Wrap are happy to put that up there might be something in it. They are in the healthiest position for selling in years if FSG do want to move on. Its probably still a load of pish though and The Echo also seem to think so.

Top prem teams are worth a billion minimum, those who regularly get in the CL are nearer two billion. If FSG sell (and I think they have no intention to do so), it will be near the 1 billion mark.

I imagine if they got an offer in the region of 1-1.2 billion (the Forbes valuation) then they'd give it serious thought.
