Looking forward to this. Pellegrini plays open football and with West Ham's signings, I can see them being attacking throughout; however we look fit and sharp now, and I think we should have a good enjoyable game.

4 - 1 the Reds.

I think WHam will do well this season. You gotta have faith!
But not here. Liverpool win. Comfortably. It's their year. YNWA. Ad infinitum.

I'm never confident for opening day, it feels like we never win. Looking at our past five opening fixtures it's looked like this:

13/14: W 1-0 Stoke (H)
14/15: W 2-1 Southampton (H)
15/16: W 1-0 Stoke (A)
16/17: W 4-3 Arsenal (A)
17/18: D 3-3 Watford (A)

So I was wrong then, a late equalizer at Watford last season denying us five in a row. It somehow does feel like a novelty, though, still, ever since that disastrous start in Rafa's final season.

Please, please win. If we don't win this one, our season is over. If we win, it's on. If we win and City don't, we'll hand ourselves the title already. A lot hanging on this game you have to say.

I am an admirer of Pelegrinis style of management, however he can be a shade conservative and given his new appointment I would guess they will be instructed simply not to lose expect a cautious first 1/2 hour

I'm looking forward to this game and seeing some of the 9 signings brought in by Pelegrini who appears to be completely running the show now with the two Daves hidden in the background (where owners should be). Haven't a clue what the score will be with our new look team but roll on Sunday - or Monday for me. ⚒️⚒️

We've looked really solid in pre-season and hopefully that momentum will carry on in EPL.

It's a game I'd like to see both teams lose somehow, but the vote has to go to Liverpool. Yet again West Ham have been busy in the transfer market, but I'm guessing that (as usual) only one or two of those signings stick. Liverpool were annoyingly good last season and seem to have invested in all the important areas, they will be a force this season.

I can see West Ham just about nicking this one 4-0.

As we got some injuries I think this is going to be how we lineup today.
XI: Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Nat Phillips, Van Dijk, Robertson, Gini, Keita, Milner, Mané, Firmino, Salah
Subs: Karius, Gomez, Moreno, Henderson, Lallana, Shaqiri, Sturridge

Liverpool look very good going forward. Very Impressed by Keita so far.

This could easily end 4-0/5-0.

I missed the Salah goal because I was microwaving a Heinz Cream of Tomato With a Kick of Chilli Soup™ (pictured below).

It's not all good news though. The addition of chilli is tantalising in prospect, but poorly executed. It falls into the category of foods that think adding chilli is just adding heat. There's no chilli flavour! I haven't seen the ingredients list, but I strongly suspect chilli extract ONLY has been used.

Disappointing.

The commentary is confusing me.

Why is Jamie Redknapp audible in the background like he’s talking to somebody else?

Great first half from Liverpool and 2-0 is a fair scoreline at the break.

The Heinz spicy chicken soup is really tasty, so I experimented with their other spicy soups and found them all to be uniformly shite. Funnily enough I found it hard to get the spicy chicken after that, but the other (shite) variants were widely available, including tomato. Heinz soups are generally over processed and over priced.
In other news West Ham are shite...

Is the Spicy Chicken one the Thai variety? I have one of those in the cupboard. I think you're probably right about the soups being quite poor overall, but tomato soup is a childhood classic so it's nice to revisit it once in a while. I picked these up from the bargain bin for 50p each so can't complain.

*insert something here about how Saltire keeps whining about how the refs hate Liverpool but they've just scored a goal which was miles offside*

Why was there an 11 year old boy on the pitch?

Shame to see Fabianski suffer a concussion injury. It’s becoming all too frequent these days.
