Thoroughly enjoy a trip to Kenilworth Road despite our atrocious record against Luton both home and away, no league win against them since Rory McAuley's bandaged head looped one in in September 2011, with only an FA Trophy win and a rather important FA Cup win since.

Wouldn't expect us to throw the kitchen sink at most games we play in this division so certainly not tomorrow against a high-scoring Luton team and without Uche up front available, almost certainly means 4-5-1, with the only question being which two of Mingoia, Maris and Elito will start. Not how I'd approach it, no doubt Luton are a better team than we are but they've been spanked a couple of times at home and had a couple of iffy draws recently, but what's new there with Mr. Derry. Didn't go last week and heard varying reports but the majority seem to suggest we played alright and just couldn't stick it in the net, and apparently despite our lack of goalscoring prowess we have one of the highest amounts of shots on goal in the league, which is hard to believe sometimes, but I'd be surprised if we increase that average tomorrow.

Looks like we will only be bringing about 700, partly because we are dull as dishwater to watch most of the time, partly because it's fucking expensive, partly because some of our fans have held some weird vision of Luton away being equivalent to Galatasaray vs Fenerbahce since we first met in the Conference which is why we've somehow never sold the allocation out in the last 8 years. Pathetic, either way.

2-0 Luton, just not Berry (boo) please.

The sit back approach is the one to take against us. If you come at us then I’d suggest it’s you who’ll get the spanking not us! Both Stevenage and Yeovil tried that and it didn’t go well. We struggle with organised sides who sit in and keep there shape, which from what I’ve heard of Cambridge is pretty much you down to a T. Hit us on the break and make set pieces a key part of your game plan in the week prior and that’s the tried and tested formula to get points and beat us this season.

As for us, be interested to see what changes after last week. Jones was royally pissed off last week and I wonder if we’ll see a more experienced look with McCormack and perhaps Shinnie coming in. I’d also maybe like to see Collins given a rest, he’s got a knock and has been a little ineffective recently and Lee has come on and done well on a few occasions. I’ve thought for a few weeks now it could be time to use this much vaunted squad and I think this might be the week we see a few changes for the first time in a little while at least.

Good write up Tom. Luton isn't exactly Fenerbache but I from what I could gather some of their numpties tend to 'target' those who don't make their way to the Kenny in groups, so perhaps that's the reason why most of us have never come across any such bother down there. And before the Luton fans line me up against a wall and shoot me, I want to make myself clear and say that all clubs have got a handful of similar idiots so it's not just them.

Tbh, I was quite disappointed after the Accy game, even though we weren't poor or anything and all the players - bar Deagan IMO - had a decent game. My disappointment was mostly because I felt Accy were there for the taking but we didn't go in for the kill, and 3 points would've been priceless with the much more tougher Luton game coming right up. Playing a top 3 side or the bottom placed side makes no difference to me as it's all what happens on the day that truly matters afaic. What I mean is Accy may have been in second place before the game but they looked anything but on the day, while some struggling side may push us all the way and we'd all wonder why they're down there.

As for the line up, I reckon Derry will start with Elito and Maris, with Mingoia coming off the bench. Goes without saying that he'll wait 'til the 70th min before bringing him on, as that's always the time when he makes his first substitution, regardless of whether we're winning or losing.

Re. our away followings down at Luton, it's all a bit embarrassing tbh, but we're never going to sell out our allocation now considering that we also didn't do that 4 or 5 years ago. Some people will look forward to this game as soon as the fixtures are out, while others will say this game will be what, the 27651st meeting between the two sides in recent years?

Even if we have played eachother a lot recently this game is still one I thought most fans of both clubs looked forward to, especially as there are few other attractive games in this division. Shame that Cambridge have sold so few tickets but not entirely surprising bearing in mind the size of their home support. I can only remember a couple of times when they have brough a large following and my memory stretches back to the old division two (championship) days of the early 80s.
We really need to get back to winning ways in the league and I'm sure after last Saturday events the players will want to show NJ what they are made of. I expect a couple of changes to be made in the middle of the park but the same formation and style to be in place. Again an early goal to settle the nerves would be a plus and hopefully encourage Cambridge to come out and play a bit. The thought of another team launching long high balls into the box is depressing. I can see Berry being up for this and wouldn't at all be surprised to see him on the scoresheet. Two home games in a week against mid table sides and a chance to get back into the autos. Would be disappointed not to get 6 points.

Fuck me it’s only Luton, sit back and do absolutely nothing which is what Derry is actually good at and get the 0-0, Jones is just as clueless as our dezza(Luton should be absolutely pissing this lge and the fact they aren’t just proves what a cabbage he is) so you hardly need to be a tactical genius for this game, just sit back and wait for the Legge of salmon to rise up and nod home.

I’ve a feeling berry will be up for it against us and no doubt he’ll get a certain amount of stick.

Piss poor turnout from us but with the football being served up it’s hardly surprising, I’m not going and I usually do go to this.

I'm not there (I'm at Carrow Road today). It sounds beyond embarrassing - regardless of the performance, Derry has to resign off the back of this. If we fail to score that'll be the 4th time in the last 6 games. Not good enough.

Wow. What great great football and goals. Almost all from flowing football after harrying and pressuring to win the ball in midfield with the high press. Very impressive.

Cambridge fans are gonna slaughter Hylton:ds: Amazed he hasnt been sent off and tbh he should have been after the foul on Forde. As for the wonder goal celebration...... cue abuse.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a very testy naughty second half. Evens Hylton gets sent off.

Not quite Abers mate, as I tend to get a bit aggressive when I drink after a humiliating result. When I saw the line up I said to myself that's a 4-0 loss then but can't say I expected a seven goal defeat. And they always beat us but that's no excuse :ffs:

Life really can be cruel sometimes eh? Got a message from my dear bro telling he had downloaded this new movie that I should enjoy as it was my type of film he said. I was quite interested until he told the film's title - 'Super Dark Times'. Told him to shove it up his arse.

I think I'll watch some shitty Will Ferrell 'comedy' instead.

As Luton's game and today's game vs Lincoln showed, we tend to be good against teams that play openly (although I don't know why Lincoln were playing openly today - they tend to be defensive) - it's those teams like Cambridge that play negatively and defensively that we have a hard time breaking down.

IMO, you lot are (so far) the best footballing side I've seen at The Abbey, and again IMO, deserved a point as I thought both sides did enough to get something out of the game. Having said that, I don't think we were that negative and defensive on the day except for the final 10 mins or so when you were really pushing us back. And that's the thing - falling back because the opponents are forcing you is different than setting up in a defensive formation right from the kick off. Believe me, I'm one of Derry's harshest critics when he sets us up in an ultra cautious defensive/hard to beat set up, but I didn't have any problems with his tactics that day.

So no one on this forum yet has mentioned Olly Lee scored from 65 yards today then!?

8-2, 7-1 and 7-0 today. There's absolutely no excuse if Jones fails to deliver a top 3 finish this season. And I'm hoping he succeeds as I always want the strongest sides to go up, and obviously the smallish, not so wealthy L1 sides to come down.

Not often you score from 15 yards inside your own half and it's still only the second best goal of the day. Our 4th was unreal.

I've always said Cov play much better against the better more open sides, another win at Lincoln but can we beat FGR and Barnet no we can't.
I think Luton need another striker, 43 goals is just not good enough.
Congrats from a jealous skyblue
