Utter shambles, Larsson said he was booked on a flight to come over and sign the contract to be unveiled as manager tomorrow.
Is Tommy Johnson really that important to screw over Ron's first choice as manager? Can we not find another 'head of recruitment'?

Waddock has said he does not expect to be in charge on Friday so god knows who will be. Wonder if Sol will want it now?

I bet Larsson must be pissed, sounds like he really wanted it.

I didn’t even want Larsson but some stability would be nice everything is up in the air. If Barrett gets the Millwall job and Sol doesn’t fancy it we are literally back to square one. Shambles

Who knows, he's taken another job offer apparently, somewhere as head of recruitment or some kind of scouting role I suppose. I think he is part of the scouting set up at Forest currently.

If Ainsworth gets the Millwall job I would expect Adam to turn up at Roots Hall.
He would be a good appointment for Sarfend in my humble opinion

Phil Parkinson seems to be fave for the Sunderland job.

Sky Sports (as if this means anything) are saying that Ainsworth will stay with us for now.

being reported pretty much everywhere that he's to be unveiled tomorrow as their new manager.
How hideously underwhelming and short termist from Sunderland, unless their plan is to let him get them out of League 1 and then just bin him off.

Looks much like we are going to be hiring Sol Campbell with Hermann Hreidarsson and Andy Cole

Based on his performance at Macclesfield, that could be a good appointment.

Despite having, on paper anyway, a poor side at Macclesfield he actually seemed to get a bit of a tune out of them by just being disciplined and organised.

I'm sure Moss Rose Silkmen, Dan_Macclad, The_Boss and Blue Lion will be able to give you a bit more info on him.

I've heard so many conflicting stories about Sol's time at Macclesfield it's difficult to make a proper judgement. Going by their results, he obviously did a good job managing to keep them up when they were all-but gone by the time he arrived. But I believe he wasn't exactly hands-on on the training pitch, took all the credit despite doing the bare minimum and recruitment wise he didn't really get involved. I have a lot of respect for him dropping down to the bottom of L2 to take on his first job, but he's also a bit of an oddball and does talk a lot of shit.

Will certainly be interesting to see how he gets on at Southend, because they're pretty dreadful as well by all accounts. I suppose you can't argue with his record if he manages to somehow keep them up as well...

It's Campbell or bust for us as Adam Barrett was announced in the Rowett coaching team at Millwall. If he's not announced tomorrow or Wednesday then god help us.

If he does come and keeps us up, then wow, I will be utterly amazed. Have we got bad individuals? no, we've got some very decent players, especially forwards. The problem we have right now is the massive splits in the squad, this lot simply don't want to play together.
It's not like we're in any position to bin the majority off in January and have a complete overhaul either so if Sol can get a tune out of this bunch then I will proclaim he is correct and truly is the greatest mind in football.

Please fill us in lads.
I thought he did a great job, especially as it was his first managerial role and under the circumstances with players not getting paid. Tried to play good football and made us difficult to break down. A lot Macc fans didn't like him because we wasn't John Askey or Danny Whitaker. I don't think he made any of the signings at Macc though- a lot of his purchases were done through agents. Many joined and never played. I think he will keep you up- we looked extremely solid before we left us.

All sounds very positive. If he can keep this lot up then he will thoroughly deserve all the recognition he gets.

He's definitely left Macclesfield in a better position than when he joined, that generally how I judge a managers time at a club.

Keeps this lot up he really is miracle worker. Either way he has a chance to have a massive clearout in summer and to build his own side and the chairman will back him.

Sol is very professional but t he struggled with the reality of lower league football, sports science isn't really backed when you can't afford half time oranges.

He did get the team well drilled and fit and his experience is clearly a pull for players.

Hope he does well for southend and he deserves another go at it. Whether he can produce another miracle, who knows.. He's got a bigger job on his hands than with us it seems at the moment.
