I know, Palmer is almost as bad as fat al.

It’s nice to be in the safe hands of a great chairman,

What a bizarre comparison ex England international and then comical manager compared to a successful local businessman and and outspoken social media loving chairman of a professional football club. That’s like comparing Mike Tyson in his prime to a brand new catalytic convertor.

Is Adam Stag and Spanish Stag the same person. Another irrelevant bizarre post. If you are going to try and take the piss at least make it a good quality dig or at least relevant

I’m old enough to remember Keith Haslam, so happy to play compare the chairman

Get this right and Notts could still go up this season.

Its will be another let's see if we can push into the top half and see where it takes us. I can't imagine AH paying for anymore players in January if we are mid table, no point.
I can't see us threatening the top 7 though.

That was literally years ago to be fair, I’m not quite sure what happened and I’m not going to pretend otherwise but nobody can deny the job Radford has done at MTFC is brilliant.

We did actually suffer the year that happened because we had to cut our budget significantly, but since then he’s funded us heavily and not just in players, we’ve recently opened a new £2m pound training facility and our academy is starting to produce. Sorry.

Was about to say, you've covered it all to be fair

You don’t need to apologise to me Conks, I am not one of Radford’s customers who was ‘exposed to a significant risk of loss’ after One Call ‘inadvertently’ misspent more than £17m of client money.

There is no doubt he has been a fantastic chairman for Stags, though.

Ardley and Appleton certainly look to be be the two front runners now, both promotion winners from L2 in recent years - would be happy with either.

Make a thread in the general discussion about it if needed, so we can continue football chat here. I understand the sensitivity that Notts County fans are showing though, it’s a common factor when a club is performing so poorly on and off the pitch it’s natural to get defensive.

Anyway I think whoever County appoint next they are going to see a improvement, I don’t think relegation will be a big threat in the new year, just a hunch.

It’s not a great time to be a County fan, and I think ‘laughing stock’ is a fair assessment but it’s not going to last for ever.

On the contrary Conks, it’s one of the most interesting I can remember!

To be honest yesterday was probably our best day of the season so far. It looks likely we’ll finally have a decent manager (I liked Nolan but something was clearly off this year) to try and get the best out of a talented but flawed squad.

People are acting surprised which is strange. This is Notts we are talking about. This is lower league football. This shit happens a lot.

As for not being a great time to be County fan, no shit we are third bottom. So this season so far, alone in isolation yes. But last season we were top 3 for a large chunk of the season, did well in a cup, reached the play off semi final, on TV a fair few times, had big play off gates and average attendance was the healthiest it’s been since well decades! So this season has been a disaster but you only have to go back to last season for almost the complete opposite

Isn’t this was lower league football is? The alternative is no highs, no lows. Mid table season after season in this league? No thanks

Just need to avoid relegation and we can kick on next season :)

Not that sad about Appleton. Slightly better version of Kewell. We need someone who cares about winning and says feck the style. Not asking for Westley here but let's talk about survival and target that.

Appleton has probably be told,
as will others , that there isn’t a pot to piss in once appointed so make do with the current squad until the summer*

* That’s just a guess

I would go for Cotterill. Or maybe Holloway.

I'd be delighted with Cotteril. But I'm also probably in a minority of one that would give Nolan another chance

Think we've dodged a bullet with Appleton.
Hardy needs to take a deep breath a nd write down logically what he expects from a manager for this season, is it someone to just keep us up or are we actually going to behave like a proper club , pick a manager give him limited funds but be far more generous with the time he gets. Time is the most precious commodity , two transfer windows to shape the squad which from here means minimum eleven months before we even think about changing again.is
Rather than a hopeful punt pick someone with a bit of a CV, not worn out by the whole thing and under fifty. Lower league managers are for the most part knackered by then and just going through the motions for the pension pot.

I think Appleton would have been my second choice after Hurst, so if he’s not interested that’s a bit of a blow.

Nolan’s odds shortening, if there’s any substance to that than that well and truly confirms our joke club status. Everyone saw how a group of relatively talented players started the season, in my book the fault for that lay squarely at that bloke’s door.

A magnificent post , thank you

I've got to admit I had to look up what the word means, and apparently 'magnificent' means 'extremely beautiful, elaborate, or impressive'. Why thank you old boy, I always strive to do my best, and I'm really grateful for your support.

I would agree with you here except that what Notts County did or did not achieve last season means shit. You're still a L2 club and if things go pear shaped then you'll have the pleasure of going to places like BWood, Solihull and Maidenhead next year. I don't think the fact that you had a good season last year will be very comforting then no?

While it's true that no highs no lows is a tad boring, you're conveniently forgetting that the club's very competitive playing budget is up there with a couple of other L2 clubs. So no, that's not what lower league footy is all about, in fact it's the complete opposite as the lower you go down the leagues the more a healthy playing budget comes into play.

That top 3/top 5 (?) playing budget of yours is the reason why the neutral fans think you're turning into a joke club. Your owner needs to get his priorities right and the most important thing right now is to forget all about going up this year and instead concentrate on staying up. There's always next year for winning promotion.

Good luck.

Thanks Vanni, I don’t know who you support but it must be state the obvious month and I wasn’t informed.

You really don’t have to tell any Notts fans on here about budgets or results and league positions. If you are fan of another club looking in from the outside I’m not sure how much more you can add to what we don’t already know.

15 or 50 you come across as a daft lad, who isn’t the sharpest and doesn’t really know football. Someone tell his wife because he literally has had a semi since Kewell was sacked
From a man whos name is a former players appendage i take that as a great insult now find out why he didnt have a left foot fookwit .or you could call yourself robbos left peg a truly great player ,mind you as a nutts fan your probably in denial
