Thought this match deserved its own thread as both teams are MASSIVE. We should be winning this one but I don't think it will be as easy as some seem to think. Forest Gump have some decent players. Also, Collins making a return, hope he gets a warm welcome.

Collins looks quality so far, thanks for letting us have him. :2thumb:

Reckon we'll probably play well but lose, especially given that we played extra time midweek. Still adjusting to this level and looking at Mansfield's squad, they look a bit good. We don't normally do well against Steve Evans teams, and our record at Field Mill isn't brilliant either.

Hopefully Monthe is fit, and Russell keeps his place. Also need someone other then Doidge to show they can get goals at this level.

Shame Alex MacDonald is not fit yet, he's going to be important this year.

From what I gather we have played well but not took our chances, hopefully that changes this Saturday.

We certainly are MASSIVE, have been forced to make the game against Yeovil next week all ticket (or maybe that's to make refunds easier for them :D ) Like Chris expect we'll compete but fall short. Doidge has started superbly so every chance he'll nick a goal but still not quite right further back.

This will be a tough game for us. I'm predicting a 3-2 win for the stags.

Why are FGR fans being so coy, Vince Dale said promotion to League 1 would be a piece of piss didn't he?

In fairness to our lord and master he was really just making the obvious point that it's easier to get promoted from a division with more promotion spots but being him it got spun.

He's absolutely right. Promotion should be expectation/ ambition for most teams that aren't a complete mess. With four promotion spots and the league being fairly even, I'd be disappointed ( if I was a FGR fan) if the owner wasn't looking at promotion tbh.

You know I don't like to be bullish, so am keeping my expectations low.

Reckon we'll do alright and should stay up but already seen v Barnet that it's a step up. They were better then virtually anyone we played last season, other then maybe Lincoln and that was without Weston, Akinde etc.

We're not the big dogs up here, yet.

I'll be making the journey up tomorrow, last time I was there we made Matt Rhead look like messi and grehegon or whatever his name was look like the best defender in the world, 2-0 loss that day I believe? Fairly optimistic would be over the moon with a draw.

Exodus Geohaghon! His best game for us was against liverpool and he was awesome that day.

Onto tomorrow.... FGR looked good against MK dons but back to the league I think it'll be a first home win for us and a proper welcome to league football for FGR.

After seeing MacDonald in good shape after training today I wouldst be surprised to see him playing despite evans saying he wouldn't be.

2-0 mansfield

A lot of money, wise or otherwise, seems to be on Mansfield to be promoted this season. I'm not a betting man but they would be amongst my favourites and will probably pose a sterner test than Barnet did. If we can withstand early pressure, roared on by at least 14 fans, I am optimistic that we can silence the massed thousands lined up against us and maybe bring home a point.

I do like a flutter every now and then, but I'm not one who bets on who I think will go up or down. But yeah, loads have backed Mansfield for the top 3, in fact quite a few of my mates have backed Mansfield over Luton for the title, which btw I wouldn't have done myself as I see Luton as the strongest side out of the two - as it stands and not taking into account any January business done by either side, esp. Mansfield who I think will bring in new faces if they're not in the top 3 by the start of the new year.

But I digress. I predicted a 1-1 draw in the pred league as apparently the Stags still need to get another decent striker in before they really take off. Couple that with this game being FGR's first ever away match in the FL and I can see them taking a point.

It's too early to predict how we will shape up, but common sense tells me we will loose tomorrow. Last trip to Field Mill and we lost 3-1 I think on a very cold winters day, when our new signing was sent off 10 minutes after coming on as a substitute! We'll need to play our socks off to get anything, we were very good on Tuesday though.

Do any Mansfield fans know for sure if we can buy a match day ticket tomorrow? There seems to be some confusion if that is possible. Could easily have a big effect on the attendance especially if the turnstiles haven't been oiled lately!

You can always get a ticket on the day, sometimes it's reported otherwise which is very annoying.

Nice to here this Conker. Thanks

I must also say that Mansfields official site states otherwise, but I had a mate last season who supports Plymouth manage to get one for the away end on the day.

I'd ring the ticket office up personally and pay for it over that to make sure.

Your match preview says away fans can pay on the day. Confusion all round!

Don't know why but I reckon FGR will win this one, think Mansfield will start the season slowly before coming good in the end.

FGR have visited the Mill for five league games in the conference and lost all five.

See you all up there :) safe trip lads!! I'm expecting a loss but if our lads put in the same effort as Tuesday we'll certainly make it a challenge!

Will be an interesting game.

Not saw the lads bar the pre-season kick about in Malta but saw highlights and still not sure.

Defence seems a little shaky still, especially with the selections last week.

A home loss would leave the locals very cranky, that's for sure. Hope the FG lot have a safe trip up, the railway is a good shout if wanting a beer.
