Probably second only to De Bruyne this season in race for POTY.
Whoever doesn't win it will be the best second placed in this award for many a season. Probably since Giggs won it in 09 ahead of Gerrard, and even then Salah and KDB are on course for a better season than Gerrard's.

KDB is really pissing on Salah's chips. Salah should be walking player of the year but every time I see KDB play, the skin-transparent bastard is sublime.

he's a very lucky boy. if not for morata's injury strewn season (get well soon alvaro) his goals to mins ratio, which as we all know is the single most important stat in football after save %, would be put to shame.

It's far from a given that De Bruyne will win it. The numbers read 21 goals and 6 assists in 23 (2) appearances for Salah, whereas it's 7 goals and 11 assists in 26 appearances for KDB. This evens out by Salah sometimes being rather invisible when not scoring and KDB fucking dominating everything really, but 27 vs 18 for two entirely attacking players (yes kdb plays deeper but he ain't a six is he) can't be disregarded either. Especially not in something like player of the year.

I don't know to be honest but I reckon KDB will win it because Salah feels more likely to slow down, although it's becoming a bit of a Leicester-saying by now that he will.

I love these references mate well in, never back down ever.

The Premier League Player of the Season is usually given to a Champion (you've had to play a phenomenal season like a Luis Suárez, Bale or Henry season to break this trend). Similar to the inconsistent Ballon d'Or awards... :hb:

Salah hasn't quite reached that level, neither will Liverpool be winning the Premier League, but he is still the most dangerous attacker (non striker) in the league, and maybe top 5 in Europe right now (outperforming the likes of Ronaldo, Bale, Insigne, Dybala, Hazard, Mbappe, Sanchez, Griezmann...)

THAT SAID. De Bruyne is the best footballer in the League this season AND will be crowned a Champion, so KDB wins either way.

#1 Messi
#2 Neymar
#3 De Bruyne
#4 Salah

So last night he hit his 30th goal of the season in all competitions. A good chance of scoring more than 30 in the league, and 40 in all competitions given the amount of games left. Combine it with the assists he's gotten only De Bruyne has been better.

What a fucking player.

I think Salah should be able to beat Cristiano Ronaldo's 42 goals scored in the 2007-08 season for Manchester United.

In my opinion there is only one stat to look at when discussing the worth of an attacking player.

Goals scored?
Assists?
A combination?

Nope.

Shots on target. For if you don't get the ball on target, you are never going to score.

Here are some shots on target stats for attackers in the current Premier League season.

Martial - 62%
Vardy - 61%
Hazard - 71%
Lacazette - 69%
Lingard - 61%
Eriksen - 67%
Mahrez - 66%

Salah?

A low-quality 60%.

Quit hyping this donkey.

I think Sanchez (maybe not on his current form) and Martial would get in ahead of Mane.

Sanchez at his best yes. Martial, ahead of Mane? No chance, don't make me laugh.

Seems to me that Mane has been the worst of your front three this season, barely heard anything about him compared to last season.

Which doesn't make your Martial claim any more accurate.

Mane this campaign has fallen short of the quality he served up last season, where he was arguably our best player. Yet he has still been fantastic, and in the context of your claim, streets ahead of Martial.

Well argued.

Sorry Nilly Boy. I realise pointing out the quality differences between Mane and Martial can't be pleasant for your average United fan. Of which you're definitely one.

Mane hasn't hit the heights of last season admittedly, but he's still been superb in certain games and got crucial goals; and is in fact only 1 goal off his tally for last season now. Hoping after his performance against Porto the other week that he can now get back to his best.

You were being serious? I mean, fair enough if you rate Mane higher but there's not a lot in it either way. Mane has 6 pl goals this season, Martial has 9. Both players need to add more consistency to their game if they want to reach the next level. IMO Martial has a higher ceiling of potential (and being 3 years younger, more time to develop).

To claim Mane is "streets ahead" makes you look like one of those deluded Liverpool fans people always laugh at. Since 2006 all you've won is one League Cup, you'd think you lot would be a bit more grounded these days.

You clearly haven't got a fucking clue if you believe Martial is anywhere near as good as Mane. As said, an average United fan.
