Ebbsfleet are fucking dreadful. Organised and that’s about it. Nowhere near the standard of Tranmere/Macc/Boring Wood/Aldershot from what I’ve seen.

If they won it on the last day would Tranmere be the first team to never be top at the end of a day? At any level?
Pretty sure Pompey did that in League 2 last year, Plymouth and Donny were top 2 all season then Pompey nicked it on last day as Donny lost at Hartlepool and Plymouth could only draw with us.

Ebbsfleet are extremely organised, and it works. They are a big, combative side and we struggled to out-battle them today.

I thought we played well, but they could easily have had three goals too. And it was a great save from their beast of a keeper, Ashmore, that stopped us taking home a point.

Not the deflating defeat I thought it would be, but it certainly leaves us in a tough position. We have to beat Guiseley on Tuesday now.

I thought Aldershot were poor today. They clearly just came for a point and set up to frustrate us and we did not see any of the expansive football of last season. If that is the standard of the play-offs, there is nothing to fear.

We were not great, but the victory was deserved. Our two strikers will often be the difference in tight games like that.

We’ve been poor since losing at home to Macc. How we are still in the playoffs is beyond me, other than Tranmere and Macc no one is consistent enough. The playoffs to see who will lose to Tranmere at Wembley is going to be a lottery.

God, I wish it was that simple. Don't think that we can't blow hot and cold too.

We’re a shadow of the side we were last season and surprised we only lost 2-0 today, Tranmere are so much better than us. Since we lost Mensah we’ve been so poor and like you say, I’m shocked we’re still in the play-offs, shows how poor this league is this season.
Last season was our chance to get out and we blew it - just looking forward to seeing who’s gunna beat us in the play-offs this season (probably Fylde).

To be fair, last season was a hard play offs.

FGR were decent. Ourselves had an excellent front line of Maguire-Drew, Whitely, Fejiri and Hawkins. You had an excellent attacking team and were very strong at home from memory. And Tranmere were very strong after their iffy start. I think any of them teams last season would go in as one of the favourites this year.

Without being disrespectful, Tranmeres gameplan was just to let Aldershot have the ball. For some reason you aimlessly pass it along the back then inevitably hoof it to the left winger who loses the ball.

Didn’t look like you could handle Norwood/Cook and then Larnell Cole played surprisingly well.

It’ll be interesting if we beat Dover, whether Macclesfield have the nerve or not..*

..* to secure 2nd

We were decent first 30 minutes, being 1-0 up was probably the minimum we deserved. Then Pools got a well worked equaliser. Following that the well of ideas ran dry. Even after Dos put on 6 attacking players on at the end it made little difference until the last movement of the game when Lafayette won a contest with a defender to a long ball but could only put his first time shot over.

Still the losing streak is over

Surely Aldershot could do better than today’s offering? Rovers fans who went to the game in Hampshire were very positive about how the Shots played, so can’t help wonder if today’s niggly negative style was to lull us into a false sense of security should the sides meet again this season.

We’re knackered and not very good, but thankfully Torquay are woeful.

They don’t even look arsed.

Deservingly relegated on this showing so far

Absolute homer. Still won’t save this shower

Didn't go today but have heard from a couple of people that the ref was very much a homer. We are a shower though. Shame Guiseley are so utterly tosh as well as we need them to pick up 6 points next week before losing to us in the final week.

And that's assuming we can somehow cobble together 9 points from 9.

Guiseley are 15 points from safety with 2 weeks left yet they STILL aren't officially relegated. Will they ever be punished for WHAT THEY DID?

That's us in the driving seat now then. Win on tuesday at dover and we'll have it practically wrapped up.

Agreed. Macclesfield will bottle it if we win Tuesday.

We're not the same team we were earlier this season, or at the end of last season. We have lost Mensah, Kanu and Benyu in the last 12 months and not replaced any of them. We'll make the playoffs but won't be troubling anyone challenging us for a Wembley final.

Fair result then by the sounds of it. We are somehow not as spineless away as we are at home. Watch us put in a performance of complacency and can't be arsedness on Tuesday to dra us right back in the mix (prove me wrong Pools to put this sorry season to bed, finally)

Whatever you do though, don't drink before the next game so you can watch the fluidity and grace of movement that you get from your team. Has the penny not dropped yet??

Away trips this season 12. Away wins 1. A 600+ mile round trip for feck all apart from a very average curry. Cant fault the lads though. Blowing out of their arse after the last week and also had one of those 'look at me' refs to contend with. A wet fart of a final game of the season for me.

P.S why does every in the pubs round the ground speak with a cockney accent? Hartlepool fan for a week now.

Fortunately I am not crazy enough to travel up and watch us confirm our relegation next week, but I feel like you may be in for a bit of disappointment. Watch out for Sean McGinty - best ball playing defender below the Championship.

Doswell aiming for a points deduction so you don’t even make the playoffs and can keep your trampoline. Smart. *taps nose*

Dos is a genius. Although with the state of NL refs who would notice? Always a flaw

All very well saying that when you support Dover and this is the best standard of football you're ever likely to see.

My team is shite and the club has had better days. Forgive me for not wanting to stay sober to study which fat non league full back shanks it out for a throw in the 19th time in a match.

Not quite true, we played better football when we were in the Rymans South and then Premier, as we were the large fish in a small pound , and with our gates we signed some quality players, but our budget does not allow that in this league , although you don't win this league playing airy fairy tippy toe football, exactly why Dover do so well in this league

Lucky fucking Maidenhead played for the draw and got a huge deflected winner

The third time in 4 games, that we were been defeated in injury time, those 3 points would make us look comfortable, as it is, I cant see where our next win is coming from , which could be good news for Woking if they need any points on the last day of the season

First time I've ever heard Dover referred to as a 'Large fish'.

Pleased with that.

Defensively solid, and always looked a threat going forward. That seven minutes added on was nervy as fuck. 10 unbeaten now since a 3-0 loss at Tranmere. Starting to believe we may take a play off spot now!

Good luck to Barrow, hope they stay up. I liked the look of the number 22.
