A young lad is not what we need. An experienced centre half at this level, who can read the game and organise the backline is what we need. I'm happy enough with Magnay and Adams and I think Laing would be okay but needs an older head next to him. Both centre halves are a calamity and that's because there's no experience there. As a result we're gifting opposition the lead every game and finding it hard to come back into it. I'd stick Bates in now if he wasn't about 3 stone overweight.

Amond going might not be a bad thing in my eyes. He hasn't got started yet. Cassidy is the perfect foil for him but the movement isn't there and the body language at times is lacking. I'm not saying he isn't trying but it's not happening for him. If it means him going and bringing in a centre half and a keeper then I'm all for it. I think we have enough offensive options in Munns, Deverdics, Donaldson, Cassidy, Oates and Rodney for a while, although the latter looks off the pace. If Amond goes, I'd have a good look at Rodney as the ability is clearly there but he looks rusty and passed up a golden opportunity in stoppage time to win it.

I disagree about not needing a young lad, I think it could be what we need, arguably our best centre halves of the past 5-10 years has been two young ones in Adam Jackson and Jack Baldwin, both streets ahead in terms of ability and reading of the game and both at clubs in leagues well above our own.

I'd seriously drop Amond on Saturday and stick Rodney in alongside Cassidy, he came on Saturday and chased down a nothing long ball, outmuscled their defender and setup Magnay who got chopped down for the penalty, he's showed more attacking threat than Amond has all season.

Highlight of the night was the Guiseley right back strangling Connor Jennings. Easy red? No he doesn't play for Tranmere.

Yellow for Connor Jennings obviously.

I'm still willing to let Amond stay upfront personally. He's still getting into decent positions in the box, and his general all round play I think is better than last year in that he has linked up well with Cassidy. His attitude seems spot on to me too, he is constantly chasing down, retrieving the ball, trying to gee his team mates up. He looks a goal or two away from relaxing though, and I think the fact he took the free kick off Munns on the edge of the box shows he is just desperate to score a goal. Rodney still looks raw to me. If he showed the same composure last night as he did against Doncaster, Amond would've been slotting home a last minute winner.

Every goal we have conceded so far has been an individual error from Harrison or Laing. Get Harrison out of the team and play the same way we did last night and the results will come.

How long do you leave it though? Another 4 games? Another 10? Despite Laurel and Hardy at the back we're not shipping in ridiculous amounts of goals it's at the other end were the problem is, Cassidy has started well and does what a big man does, he's holding the ball up well and scoring headed goals, he's a striker we've needed for years, Amond on the other hand I don't see what people see in him, he's not built to hold the ball up and he's not quick enough to get in behind defences, he's finally got himself a strike partner to take the knocks and he still doesn't look like scoring. Perhaps he does just need some more time but we can't keep crossing our fingers and toes and hope he comes good.

Sadly with regards to Harrison and Laing we have no other options, unless someone else is signed they just have to play, Donnelly is another hapless defender and it would be swapping like for like in terms of keystone cops errors.

Fucking hell eh, with all due respect who'd of thought a few years ago that we'd all be worried about getting a pasting away at Bromley... :animatedf:

Ahh yes he doesn't stand for any nonsense our Connor. A master at winding up his opposition, Ricky Miller is currently serving a six game ban after losing his contest with Connor

The irony of that statement is that Chester is terrible for parking. Not many spaces and generally really expensive.

Good joke though.
Council parking is free after 3.00, but I think even this concession will end soon.

I'm not sure I would say scoring a brace in a 4-0 win is losing his contest.

Just a shame your dreadful defenders resorted to putting him in a headlock to stop him.

Ha
We are terrible this season. Alabi awful, mckeverly sloppy, dunn greedy,

Play offs at best for us thank god norwood is back next week
Has Alabi won a header for you yet? You could count the headers he won for us on one hand and that was after 60 games. Should score 25 for you though if you play him regularly.

Grimsby's was 5-0 at Braintree. That's got to top the lot.

Yeah, he did, from what I've been told, but it's definitely 27!

Was 20 at the end of the season, 3 unbeaten play off games and then 4 so far this season.

Remarkable either way. Not lost in the league in 2017 (last loss was Boxing Day) and not lost a home game since November when Maidenhead scored a late winner to win 3-2. Only home league game we lost last season as well.

Hayes & Yeading 4 - 0 Mansfield and this beauty of a own goal

I've been looking on the Leyton Orient forums and a lot of comments are along the lines of 'We just got smashed by a team of cast offs and part timers'.

We left the part-time club over the summer and are full-time now.

Squad is still unbalanced and despite everyone saying what a good performance it was last night, I'm worried. Chester are the worst side I've seen at the Vic since we did Grimsby 8-1 and we couldn't even beat them.

Our problem is the manager. I've supported Chester since 1960. Hartlepool(s) have always been the laughing stock of the Football League until 15/20 years ago, so don't forget that. You're in Non-league now so get used to it. Think yourselves lucky that but for that flap by our inexperienced GK we'd have won. Your commentary team called McCombe and Astles our 2 fat centre halves, so you only have yourselves to blame if you can't beat a shit team with no tactics and 2 fat centre halves. Astles in particular has been magnificent for us over the past 2 seasons and his size is not an issue for us. Btw does that tranny still hang about outside your ground?

Now now, we all know Ricky is no angel. He just lost his head on this occasion, a fox - outfoxed.

I'm not sure putting two hands around an opponents neck is winding them up.

The ref possibly didn't see it as he only came over when he heard Tranmere fans shouting. Didn't know what to do so booked both players. Would love to know what that linesman who was looking straight at it was doing.

Note I'm not saying this was the reason we failed to win, just that your player should have seen red.

Yeah, Simsini, that is what happens with the brotherhood of football league clubs. Misplaced arrogance and elitism.

Bromley 6 Orient 1
Sutton 2 L Orient 0
Hartlepool 0 Dover 1
Tranmere 0 Sutton 1
Sutton 2 Macclesfield 1
Maidenhead 2 Hartlepool 1
Torquay 2 Boreham Wood 4
Halifax 1 Dover 2

There is a new world order. This will be the first year since 06 07 when two new teams get promoted.

Sutton and Bromley

Yeah don't get me wrong, if Harrison feels dropping Amond is the right thing, I won't be too upset, and it could spur him into life if he manages a couple of goals for the reserves. I think Amond is still getting in the right positions, he has had plenty of chances so far, but just hasn't found the back of the net. I think it will come eventually; although sooner rather than later please.

Donnelly is 10x better than Harrison, despite his showing so far this season at left back. He hasn't had a proper run at CB for us yet, and we can't do any worse so I would give him a go. Noticed Dan Jones has scored 2 for Barrow already - he's a player we shouldn't have got rid of and I think would be well suited at CB for us this year.

That keeper is shocking by the way. Is he on loan from a league club or something? The two centre halves, although look really poor, won every header and cleared the box from the majority of crosses. Based on that one game, you are far too defensive. Maidenhead came and got in our faces and enjoyed a lot of success, whereas you just sat on the edge of your own box. Probably an instruction from your manager, but with those two at centre back, you are never going to be able to play a high line. The odd time you did we got in behind you pretty easily. All that said, it shows how poor we look when we couldn't manage another goal.

Oh, and Lawrence died a couple of years ago god bless his tortured soul.

Astles is a good proven centre-back at this level, McCombe also looks reliable and is pretty dominant in the air, but you’re right that there’s no pace between them.

I’ve no doubt McCarthy is the most negative and defensive manager in the league, it’s really starting to piss me off now as well. As a fan owned club we rely solely on our gate receipts and the crowds will plummet watching that as he’s setting us up like that at home. We’re far better than last night but this incredibly restricted style of play just makes us look absolutely appalling every week.

Our recognised keeper is Alex Lynch, but he brought in Mitchell on loan from Burnley last week and has put him straight in goal for some reason.

That was my first visit to your place and was impressed, nice set-up. I think you will climb the table in time as well.

If McCarthy is the most negative then John Askey has to be the 2nd most.
