No Ramsey today, so it should be a routine win for Rafa and the boys.

Decent first half for the neutral, Newcastle are too passive though. Won't end 1-1 I don't think.

When Shelvey is on song he's such a talented footballer. His passing range is incredible.

Arsenal's entire backline on the right side so Ritchie scores from the left. 2-1.

Slimani changed the game, good substitution. Mathematically safe now are Newcastle I think?

Arsenal yet to pick up a point away from home in 2018, the only side in the Premier league to not have done that yet.

I don't see him often enough to comment on his consistency to be frank, but his bottom level is so incredibly low. I'd never want him in a starting lineup in the world cup for that reason alone.

But yeah, if he could put in performances like this week in, week out (maybe he does nowadays?) he should be going. He relies a bit on having a runner (Gayle's movement is perfect for him) to aim for, but when he does he doesn't half strike it sweet.

Either way, wonderful to watch today and you can see what we saw in him when we signed him.

Well played Newcastle btw, kept Arsenal in check for most of the game, the goals were well taken.

he's definitely found consistency beelo mate. perhaps not always at the level he was at today or against man yoo but he's been playing well for the majority of 2 seasons now and has really stepped it up the past 2 or 3 months. the biggest criticism of him was always work rate, and that's not been an issue. i know what you mean about his bottom level, but we haven't seen that in a while now. the other criticism i've seen leveled at him is his lack of discipline. a squad dele ali is an integral part of and a perceived lack of discipline is used against him. 2 red cards this season, 1 admittedly for a stupid stamp, the other a second yellow to stop a counter attack. 1 yellow card this year.

imo he should be going because nobody else in the england set up has anything like his skill set. the only other midfielder with a bit of invention about him is wilshere and he hasn't got the same range of passing as shelvey, he's a different sort of payer. englands problem this summer is going to be chance creation, again. finding the pass to isolate an opposition player with a 1v1 situation. i'm expecting loads of meaningless possession with no direction. i'm not suggesting he should start every game but he should absolutely be in the squad. cook, livermore and lallana made the latest squad. none of them have outperformed shelvey this season.
