Don’t like this team and I don’t like this manager but Mansfield till I die.

Let’s be honest we were never going up after MK anyway.

It made no difference but should the Benning penalty have counted?

I thought rebounds weren’t allowed in shootouts. His missed, hit the post came out and bounced in off the keeper
Not sure but I think that happened in the World Cup once with Germany v France and it counted as a goal.

Sorry L2 section, we are here to stay and out do you financially, probably not go up mind.

IMO Flitcroft should be in trouble, he’s incapable of getting them up for a big game.

I think it’s from when the ball stops rolling, the rule change from next year would stop the Newport goal from first leg.

Flitcroft has to go. Tactically inept and wasted a huge budget.

My hope pretty much went after MK, atleast we can enjoy another summer of average signings and the usual tripe from DFs stupid mouth.

Better side over the two legs went through. Plenty of contentious refereeing decisions but Mansfield didn't look anything like the side we played at Prenton Park.

Tbf, loads on here called Newport as the team to go through, as a team (Bradford) joining the league, Mansfield are another team that’ll probably beat us to the same players we’re after but happy for Michael Flynn tonight regardless.

Newport looked absolutely shattered in extra time. Well done to them, came down to the lottery of penalties and out of all of them it was was Walker that missed.

Now Mansfield are staying in L2 wouldn't mind us buying CJ Hamilton or Krystian Pearce, but that won't happen.

I think any suggestion one team were better is incredibly unfair - it went to penalties for a reason.

I did tell you early in the season that no matter how bad we are we would still be in the same league next season.

Never mind there is always next season, though Salford already have one of the top 3 spots sorted.

That was one of the best goalless draws I think I've ever watched. Hard luck Stags, I hope you have more luck coming off a semi final loss than we did!

What does Cowley mean when he says Jamille Matt is a reference point for Newport?

I’d honestly never heard that term in football.

I’m just relieved Stags aren’t two divisions above my beloved Pies next season. That just wouldn’t of computed in my footballing mind.

Could very well be this time next season but escaped this season, phew. Literally clutching at footballing straws lol

Has Flitcroft been sacked yet?

He is probably the most tactially inept manager in the history of the football league.

Right team went through over the two legs, Newport were excellent for three of the four halves although tired in extra time.

Hard luck on Mansfield, spent an awful lot over the last two years and expect better, be a challenge now to see how they recover from this and potentially losing a few of their top players such as Hamilton and with Grant and Walker going back.

Flitcroft fucked it up again. He was shite at Bury and scraped 3rd with by far the best team in the league, then invested heavily and proclaimed 16th and 19th place finishes as something to be proud of. Once we finally sacked the fat Bolton twat he did fuck all at Swindon, then took a Mansfield team challenging for 3rd down out of the playoff positions last season and then this term he had a squad that should have pissed the top 3 but here they are. Wouldn't surprise me if he played for the 0-0 thinking away goals counted.

If I’ve given it big before the game you’ve got to be man enough to show up when things don’t go your way (like that exeter fan)

Fair play to Newport, better for the game by a mile and should have been out of sight, them winning on penalties was gutting, but on the value of the game, deserved.

Mansfield did what they always do under flitcroft. They choked, utter crap. Him standing there like a fucking demented seal clapping away failing again was a tragic sight.

I actually thought for once - given one last chance after several months of choking and not showing up the players and the manger would turn up, did they? Did they fuck.

Newport have got a decent side and a good manager, they came up with us and whoever they play I wish them and their fans the very best of luck in the playoff final.

What's with all the Sheffield Wednesday fans on Twitter enjoying Mansfield being out of the playoffs? Is there some weird Sheffield Wednesday-Mansfield rivalry that nobody knows about?

Is Jorge Grant the first ever player to be brought on for a penalty shootout and then not be trusted to take a penalty?

Hard not to laugh at the Slags so I will.

Haha haha haha.

I did my mourning after the MK game so this one doesn't hurt so bad. Thanks for this season David, I have mostly enjoyed the 5-3-2 and some of the good football that we have played, but we need a new manager now we have choked two seasons in a row.

The only positive is Ben Turner who I feel has been outstanding in the past three games.

Stringy!!! Adam!!!! Don’t mention the C word!! :shut: You’ll wake up Costa Del Stag

I’d keep Flitcroft, he’s not done bad. Top 3 for most of the season. Only missed automatics by a single goal. Only missed a play-off final and a trip to Wembley by a single goal.

I’d give him another year, and I’m pretty confident nice Mr Radford will do the same, and give him more money to spend.

Unlucky Staggies, playoffs are a lottery and can be so cruel, as we all know

Well done Newport. Perhaps had the rub of the green with one or two refereeing decisions, but that kind of thing makes me think it might be your year.

Commiserations to Mansfield, looked the better side in the first leg, but not at your best tonight.

Newport were far better tonight, no arguments.

We deserved to be rightfully ridiculed in fairness, it’s embarressing.

Forestieri's alleged racist abuse of Pearce in preseason led to a brawl. It was taken to court but wasn't upheld (although the judge said he felt it unlikely Pearce had misheard him).
