Well, I’ve done my fucking research and it seems we play host to Grimsby on Saturday. Not sure what to expect from them with all the upheaval of a managerial change, but can’t see them being too expansive.

Think we will squeeze past them 2-1.

My main concern is James Hanson is guaranteed to score against us, he always does (if hes fit to play currently). That being said we are on a roll at the moment, think we will win a scrappy 2-1 game.

You may be in luck as he missed last night through injury.

In which case i will go with 2-0, Crewe aside our defence has looked pretty solid, especially when Alan McCormack plays.

According to the FA website, he will serve his one match ban on Saturday against us.

Weird, its another confusing rule, maybe FA Cup is different, Conlon for example got sent off in the paint pot and was then banned the next season's first leasing cup.

Tin pot cup has its own rules, trying to make it appealing to clubs to pick first teamers, it doesn't work.

^ Yep that's right. It's only an (unsuccessful) attempt at making clubs go with relatively strong starting line ups, without them fretting about any players missing one or two league games due to red cards. But everybody knows that clubs are generally more concerned with long term injuries rather than suspensions.

4 or 5-0 to Northampton. Can't really see us doing any better than this with the form Northampton are in and the current malaise around our club at the minute.

I’m more optimistic and I’m going for just a 3-0 defeat.

I also think we will lose by a few. Can't think many supporters will travel either, I haven't.

We are in a mess and it's like a 'Nightmare on Elm Street' at the moment, we need a 'Miracle on 34th Street' today!

We usually bring nearer 1,000. Wednesday's debacle at Newport and the behind the scenes going on's have been the last straw for some, our football has been atrocious at times lately (when we have actually played).

Crewe are flying and brought 500 and the train is direct and dirt cheap, so I still reckon it’s a good following. From the look of the pub before the game there’s a few herberts that have made the trip so that should make for a decent atmosphere

We should be 4 up after 10 mins, but as usual we don't take our chances. Green even just saved a shot from waterfall on Northampton's line just after missing a sitter from two yards out, hitting it straight at keeper!

Northampton will win 1-0 in 90th minute at this rate

Well football likes to kick you when your down. Probably the best we've played since Exeter, not hoofing it but playing on the deck for a change.

But poor in both boxes have cost us, had more chances and decent ones too but not scored, and can't defend balls as usual into the box mean Northampton have scored two.

Northampton dangerous on the counter which can only mean one thing when we push for goals in second half if we don't score early.

Also, how we didn’t get a penalty I’ll never know. Ref had the whistle in his mouth for a good three seconds before deciding against giving a stonewaller.

First half played well but didn't take our decent chances especially in first 10 mins, and conceded soft goals as usual.

Second half reverted to type and hoofed the ball constantly and don't think we had a single chance, not good enough when two down.

If Limbrick or new manager can get us playing like the first half more often we will win more than we lose, however the second half performance and recent games will mean a relegation battle.

Northampton looked ok, though I think were there for the taking first half with goals against run of play especially the first but they didn't really need to get out of second gear so no idea how decent they are.

The train wasn't direct or easy with the rail strikes.

Two ex-Imps on the score sheet. How's Wharton doing? Can't imagine Oliver has had too much game time.

Wharton has been excellent. He is playing in a back 3 which allows him to bring the ball out on occasions, its clear that hes really comfortable on the ball also. I could see him getting in Blackburns side in the future for sure.

Oliver has generally been an impact sub, but hes started a few games recently and done well. We are a big side and set pieces / balls in the box are a big part of our game, he fits into that well.

Wharton has been immense, and Oliver has only recently got into the side but has been playing well the past couple of weeks

Sounds about right r.e. Wharton. He looks like a well coached modern CB who still wants to be a proper defender and head and kick when needed.

Very unfortunate here last season. It was a bit embarrassing really that we had someone of his quality on the bench.
