It looks as though Ardley has signed him as a right back - mentioned he could play there in his interview when we signed him and has chucked him straight in rather than putting him in midfield.

Might change long term as we still have Matt Tootle who was one of the better players in the league last season but been constantly injured this year, but a promising start for sure.
Will be interesting to see how he gets on there. Another advantage of him playing wide is that he doesn't have to move out of position to take throw ins down that side, which I'd imagine you'll be trying to utilise too.

Lee Mason will be the referee, fresh from a howler at West Brom v Forest last night.

Interesting that john stead has said the pressure is all on us, not really though is it?

Already enough points (and then some to stay up) even if we lost and everyone else around us won we’d still be 2 clear of 4th. If worse comes to worse we’ll still be in league 2 next season.

Not quite the same for county....

Even Colin slater has been defrosted to state how big the game is for notts, should be a classic

It’s big for both no doubt for very different reasons sadly . Every game is a cup final when you are bottom of the league , staring relegation and non league in the face ! Although 4 points in last two help . And for Mansfield , you play the bottom side and you want automatic promotion you basically win ! Plus Mansfield haven’t been in the glorious heights of League One for a long long time so pressure there

So big game for both clubs simple as that . League position favours Mansfield massively, history favours Mansfield consistently and the odds naturally favour Mansfield . But when you have a chip you have a chance :) Ain’t that right Spanishstag ?

Who’d have thought all we needed was a competent centre midfield pairing to be competitive rather than a million central defenders

I would say the pressure to win every week in a promotion race is just as big as battling against relegation, your rivals are mostly winning, and you’ve got to do the same to keep up/stay ahead. Our rivals are mostly losing. Even if we don’t beat Mansfield., I’d be fairly confident about beating Newport.

I would guess not getting promoted again would be pretty disastrous for Mansfield given the outlay they’ve made, Flitcroft’s comments about the ref today certainly shows he’s feeling the pressure, the fucking plastic Mourinho.

Both sides are under pressure to pick points up. We’ve spent and are expecting a promotion and Notts need every point they can get until they pull away from the bottom 2. Just your usual mind games.

Both are under pressure but Notts County has got to be more considering the threat of relegation to non-league and the financial implications that would come with that. That’s fair surely? But yeah definitely some pressure coming from the Mansfield side due to being superior and on a promotion run :)

Even if we lost I’m still confident of a top three finish, our run in is not terrible either.

Ok, so if that's disastrous for Mansfield. Then what is it for the pies with allegedly the biggest budget and outlay on players in league 2, not only to miss out promotion but to sit in 24th place fighting tooth and nail to avoid relegation to the conference????

I can't believe you've actually typed that!

The financial benefits in L1 for Mansfield will be negligible too, he’s talking out his arse.

I guess that’s what happens when you’ve an irresponsible chairman at the helm. Him selling up at a massive loss as he promised the world and offered bottom of the football league despite the biggest budget, he’s taken on forest and lost, he’s taken on radford and lost, he’s taken on the Mansfield fans and lost and then been roundly ridiculed for his “picture in the bath”

I genuinely feel sorry for the guy, he’s obviously got his heart in the right place, just seemingly nothing else.

Win lose or draw Saturday JR can look round st hardy shake his hand and say “hard luck mate”

It’s never sounded genuine at all Adam. Quite the opposite. Flip flop.

If or when Hardy loses a few million he’ll still be left with millions in the bank and two very successful companies so I can’t be too upset for him. Last season it all pretty much went well for him a definite success. This season it’s been a disaster. I will never be that rich I’d suggest most if not all on here won’t be either.

As for Mr Radford, he definitely needs some payback for all that investment and looks like finally he’ll get it with promotion to the 3rd tier. I will be one of the first to say well done John.

It's good to see a referee who made a massive cock-up in a higher division days beforehand rewarded with a high stakes local derby.

Already appointed I imagine to be fair, he’s going to be better than any usual offering at this level too. Obviously if he’s wank ignore all this.

Jeff winter was the premiership ref who presided over the 2-2 draw back on 2003! - the one where Christie scored late on - Martin shaw our commentator game him a 3! Not good

It's a sign how little marketing seems to be done in lower league football that people (including Notts fans to be fair) find this strange. It's good stuff I think. Ironically the club's social media presence and output is an area that Hardy deserves considerable credit for developing. If only he hadn't got his wang out.

Strange? Well we wouldn’t want to be outnumbered at home now would we?

Exactly Kim, seems such a foreign concept to many, who appear stuck in the past using old traditional Football methods. All Hardy did was introduce good commercial marketing techniques to football and it’s worled wonders. Crazy

Believe it or not, Mansfield at home is what passes as big game for us nowadays.

Not so much strange as tragic.

A lot less could pass for a big game for you next season. You should be greatful for what you’ve got

It can only be considered arrogance if you are under 30, if you are comfortably over 30 like me then it’s just natural order not arrogance.

Still trying to work out how advertising and marketing the game as a ‘big game’ is strange? Whether this fixture happens again next season or not for another 10 why wouldn’t you promote the importance and try and get as many in attendance as possible?

Kim’s post earlier nailed it.

Us and Bradford Park Avenue could be be the first teams to play each in 5 different leagues. Doesn’t get much bigger than that.

They’ve only the one stand! Been there actually, much more fun than the other Bradford!

How would it be 'disastrous?' It would be disappointing but that is it. Find it quite funny that of all teams Notts County, who have regularly spent way beyond their means then got the buckets out to stay up/in business feel in a position to comment on our own teams outlay.
