play it occsionally since they brought the new update with raids.

Are they any good. Apparently we're getting 10-20 people turn up to raids here. Caught my first Unown today, 2nd one to appear here in the past 3 days so maybe they're becoming more common. It was down a small side street in our town center which was blocked by quite a few cars parked up to catch it, a group of approx 20 people and when I left a few more groups of people going there. It's the first one I've gone out of my way to catch since playing the game, I just tend to turn the app on and go for a walk and occasionally check when I know I'm near a pokestop or gym.

Yeah they're decent, more so if there are other people helping you. Basically there are 4 levels, the first 2 levels you can usually beat on your own, and level 3 and 4 you'll need a few people to help you take it down. When you beat the raid pokemon you get some items and the chance to catch it, and since they're all rare pokemon it's worth taking the time to get them.

As for unown, it's the only one I'm missing (bar the regional ones), not seen it anywhere. People say it's the rarest one on the game.

Old gyms and new gyms now have an assigned pokemon rated 1-4 and at various points during the day the gym opens to be defended by that pokemon. The more of you the easier to take it down etc. You get one free raid pass per day and can't build them up so you can participate in one raid per day unless you buy extra passes.

Raids are announced 2 hours before they start so people are arranging meets online to take down gyms.

Gyms outside the raids are the same as they used to be except the more fights they participate in the more health they lose unless they're fed berries and only one of each pokemon can be assigned to the gym. We've had numerous spoofed gyms here with 5 x snorlax for example in!

I take it everyone apart from Oaf is still playing?

Why the hell would I have stopped? I'm the fuckin' Pokemon master around these parts I'll have you know.

I still have this on the go when getting to and from work.

Oh do grow up!

Hanging around with kids you don't know in the woods can be seen as very creepy you know.

I thought you had become disappointed with the lack of activity here compared to the states!

Caught 209 Seen 213
Highest CP 2952

I still haven't completed the original pokedex.

Venusaur (81 candy)
Muk (one appeared a 5min walk from me as I was dishing up dinner yesterday! 20 candy)

I'll start being a bit more active with the game in September when I get to walk a pushchair for 5 miles and hit 3 pokestops and a gym

You can get them both in raids which would be easier than finding them in the wild. You should be able to take muk down on your own (level 2 raid) but venasaur (levek 4 raid) you'll probably need a few people.

Finding one with a Muk will be difficult enough.

Since the upgrade I have one more gym near me, that has been level 4 most times I've been past it!

If our local tracker site comes back up I might have a chance of getting to a muk raid.

Got bored of it a while ago. My wife still plays occasionally.

I've recently got back in to playing Niantic's original game Ingress (for those who don't know it is Pokemon Go without the Pokemon & a lot more tactical/team based).

Look at this cool mother fucker right here. I guess if we were all as cool as him, it wouldn't be so special.

While New York was a bit overkill in terms of the amount of pokemon/stops around, I was lucky enough to play the game in Plymouth... for reference, the largest Facebook group for Pokemon Go on all of facebook was Plymouths, with New Yorks group being in second place. So yeah, we were a bit nuts about it down there.

I'm way up north in Bristol now though... not as active a community, but I actually have Pokestops on my way to work now, as opposed to Plymouth where my walk seemed to be the one area of plymouth void of anything interesting on Pokemon go.

Yeah, I probably don't play it as much as I did though... still not got a lot of the bastards (only caught 167 in fact!) but I do tend to get it going when/if I can. Been meaning to use a lucky egg for a while now that'll get me a whole bunch more new ones though.

Been to 3 raids now. One on my own, level 1 magikarp, simple. A level 4 Snorlax when I walked to the shop, saw a group of people gathering so joined in, 5 of us and a spoofer took down the snorlax pretty quickly. Spoke to a couple of the blokes there and they said to join a group and later on they went to another one 5 mins away for a level 4 tyranitar, there were 14 of us there for that and took it down with no difficulty again. Caught all 3 at the end too.

I doubt I'll get to another one for a while though, the tracker has gone down here so I can't see what my localish ones are without walking out to them and I'm not that fussed about the game!

I've spent months binning all my potions and revives as I never battle or gym. I've got the max items and it's pretty much all pokeballs!

Saw my first Muk raid today when out, I don't think my wife or daughter were too impressed at the half an hour it took me to take the fucker down though! Thankfully a park was close by.

Approx 0.5km from getting the final candy required for Venusaur too, I should get that this evening.

We went for a drive to a village pretty much in the middle of nowhere which had 4 gyms, I took 2 and joined 2 which had both been yellow for 13 days. I didn't realise you got coins for staying in gyms. Stupidly I put a couple of my big hitters in there so I'm going to be without them for any more gyms/raids.

The hospital used to have a gym but they got rid of it because of people congregating outside it unfortunately.

Regarding the gyms, I think it works out you get 1 coin for every 10 mins your pokemon is in a gym, but you can only get a max of 50 coins per day. Also you can only collect the coins when you are knocked out of the gym.

Basically it means you're much better to stay in a gym for 10 hours or so and then being knocked out. Staying in a gym for days under the new system is almost pointless, as you can't collect the coins until they're out.

Apparently it was ruined by connection issues, not the first time with Niantic.

You sure that wasn't the Chicago event? That was livestreamed, youtube kept up all video and it was pretty painful viewing.

The lady who was on the mic all day was bombarded with abuse and heckling and had a few bottles of water/piss thrown at her. On her last visit to the stage she gave a pretty enthusiastic "go catch pokemon now" or something along those lines with a lot of people shouting how? in the crowd!

They also had the hosts of it walking around interviewing selected people in the park they were doing it in. One bloke said it was great and a successful event which saw a lot of people around him turn and laugh at him followed by some chants of some sort.

Anyway, off to my fourth Articuno raid now.

49 turned up to one of the ones I went to with 9 people walking away pissed off they missed out as it's max groups of 20 and they didn't want to waste a raid pass on possibly not beating the Lugia.

The most I've heard that have turned up was 3 full groups of 20 to an evening one with a few missing out.

Yesterday evening there were 37 of us and then 34 went on to a fish and chip shop car park (not owned by the chip shop, it's a car park for a pub/allotment/doctors as well) where the owner phoned the police saying they lost him customers being there 10mins! He lost himself a few customers from the 34 that went there as they said before leaving the other one they'd be getting their dinner after that one and heading home, none of them did after he told them all to fuck off....

Managed to get a Lugia but the 2 raids I tried on Articuno resulted in it fleeing both times. I'm at work until 6pm so I doubt i'll get another chance...

Used to be better when the raids were around till about 8pm, they seem to finish at 6pm latest now.

Are you missing many on the pokedex excluding legendaries? Only one I don't have is Unown. Apparently only one has spawned in Leamington in 3 months, and that was at 3am on a Monday morning...
