;-) Couldn't resist Casey. No hard feelings.

From a Luton perspective a decent display and a win would be nice to get back on track after what sounded our worst performance of the season last week. Not sure what to expect of Crawley. Certainly a different prospect than our previous meetings but then both clubs have had major changes and directions of movement.

Our line up will be interesting too. Will show Jones hand a little on what he sees as his Starting Eleven. Sheehan stays at the expense of Cuthbert after a poor defensive display? (Poor as a unit rather than Cuthbert per se). Rea almost certain to regain the holding role and hopefully Hylton back up top although Vassell sounds promising. How long until a youngster gets a shot at the a full back slot? Both sound weak. Otherwise let's hope it's Choo Choo not Boo Hoo.

Who was it that voted Sheehan MotM last week. He was probably right at the back of the queue! :ffs::ffs:

Rea will definitely come in for Lee id have thought, unless we want to do something more drastic like put Rea at centre half and have a total rejig in the midfield (cant see that happening just throwing it out there), would be surprised if Lee even made the bench after Jones rather pointed comments.

Not sure what type of forward line Crawley have but I'd be tempted to stick Cuthbert back in again anyway. Sheehan looked way off the pace to me last week and it was harsh on Cuthbert to be dropped to the bench in the first place. I said after the game id like to see Justin given a go at right back over SOD but maybe thats a touch harsh, as the formation leaves both full backs very exposed but he, and Potts for that matter, are certainly on borrowed time, with Justin and Senior around now. Personally think Potts has done the better of the 2 (at least he can defend a bit, SOD cant really do anything all that well except run) but both are definitely the weak links in the side.

Hope Hylton is alright to play from the off, Vassell has promise but is very raw and I think lacks that hold up and linking ability that Hylton has.

Thinking this will be a 1-1.

No offence taken.

We are short of goals, which is odd when you look at our forward line, and we are leaking at the back.

Can't see us getting anything from the game but we are trying to play the right way so it could be entertaining.

I'm hoping the centre half pairing of McNerney and Connolly start as we started the season with them and looked solid. The inclusion of Davey has led us to becoming mistake prone...not all his fault.

Cox can't play until January so unless Roberts is fit (flying pink things) we will go with our tika taka attacking midfield (not crosses or pass forwards allowed) which will leave Collins feeding of scraps again. We may see Kaby though, international clearance should have arrived by now.

I've got a good feeling about this game - I think Jones would've worked the players hard this week and there will be a lot of frustration to take out on someone. This could be the game we really turn up and put in a really positive and commanding performance. There will be a couple of changes from last week, this is how I feel we should line up:

170916081555.png

Subs: Craig King, Jake Gray, Jonathan Smith, Alex Gilliead, Isaac Vassell, Josh McQuoid, Akin Famewo

Scott Cuthbert ahead of Alan Sheehan as Matt Harrold both times last season caused us problems. Alan needs to build his fitness up because he was all over the place last weekend. Think Cameron McGeehan should go back up to the top of the diamond, which in my opinion is his strongest position. Also wouldn't be surprised if Alex Gilliead got his first start today.

Disagree, think he has been great this season. Has his moments where he makes the odd error, they all do, but for my money he has been our most influential midfielder this season.

The problems we have had defensively are in my opinion far more down to shape and the diamond, than individual players. It exposes our 2 weakest players.

Kenny might be on for his first correct ptedicted side. Have a feeling he'll stick with Sheehan having gone with it last week.

An err... interesting line up for Luton today. No Rea, no Cuthbert, no Pelly, no Marriott and no Hylton.

Interested to see which changes are tactical and which, if any, are down to injury. Lee being picked again is just baffling though whatever the reason.

Can't help but think we might have thrown the baby out with bath water with that team. Forward line and in particular the selection of Lee baffling. Probably hoping Smith will do his running and dirty work for him, Jones must be going all in with his ability on the ball.

Got to think are injuries involved in that selection, especially with no rea on the bench.

Pelly has been our best player this season by a mile. Didn't have a great game vs Grimsby but then who did?

Rea on crutches in the away end apparently. Not good.

Oh dear oh dear. Sounds like a decidedly ropey performance. Jones is now under pressure for pretty much the first time since he arrived and he's brought it on himself. That lineup looked really dodgy as soon as it was announced. When you put out such an out of the box team you need a performance or the fans will start to ask questions.

I hope Jones handles his post match press well or he could make it even worse, he always seems on the brink of a Money meltdown in his interviews when we have done well so he could blow a gasket this time.

As a neutral I didn't see this coming, but I've got a friend who likes to watch different L1 and L2 sides - in his area of course - and he's already seen Crawley twice this year. Apparently, he thinks they are a decent side in the making and also playing a different type of footy than we're used to seeing them play. Having said that, a 2-0 defeat doesn't look good if Luton are to mount a serious promotion push though it's still early days obs.

All I'm sure of is that they're one of our bogey sides :sna:

I would've won £250 if you Luton scumbags didn't fuck this up. :ffs:

Another reason to add to the huge 'Why I Dislike Luton Town a Lot' list.

I had to listen to this while at work (still here) so I can't make a judgement on the game but it sounded an entertaining match and I'm happy to end our three game losing streak and to score more than one goal in a game for the first time this season.

Why does your centre half (Sheehan) take corners or is he one of those Canavarro types?

Not great then! That's 3 games I can think of that Jones hasn't made the right selection, not good enough and he needs to improve as much as the team do IMO he is learning as a manger though but the fact remains. A shame as we started to squander a decent start with a couple of poor performances now.

I really don't know where to start with this game. It was just asking for trouble when the team selection came out. That's the second time in a week its happened now... becoming a bit of a concern. Play your best, on-form players in their best positions. Round pegs into round holes.

Whereas we didn't start playing until the 50th minute last week, we didn't start playing until the 85th minute yesterday. Stephen O'Donnell was absolutely atrocious, albeit he's essentially got to cover two positions as a right wing back; shock horror another goal came from a mistake from him. The first goal was a real gift and nothing really happened in the game at all up to that point.

Goal or no goal? For me, the keeper drops the ball under pressure, before there's any contact from Hylton.

Well, its certainly nothing on the two allowed goals in the Everton v Middlesbrough game yesterday!

I'm not seeing any reason why that goal was disallowed, although we all know the keepers always get the benefit of the doubt. But the Luton don't protest with the ref, bar one or two, so he was most likely fouled by Hylton.

And if it was given, it would've been 1-1 rather than 2-0.

Would have papered over the cracks it seems. Was a return to the hoof we supposedly left behind too

Indeed. But players reaction is usually the first thing I rely on, and it looks to me that the Luton players just accepted the decision and played on, so I'm assuming we're not seeing the foul on their keeper only because the footage isn't that clear.

It doesnt look a foul to me, but these days anything in the vicinity of the keeper is going to be given, and lets face it, its an easier decision for the ref to not give it than give it.

As Belize Hatter says probably would have papered over the cracks. We need to get ourselves straight for next week as will be a tough game, but im struggling to see us picking much up with Rea out and essentially only Olly Lee around to play the holding midfield role.

The camera angle on the official highlights suggests (and only suggests) that there may have been a handball by Hylton. There was certainly no contact on the keeper. I'd like someone to have interviewed Hylton to get his thoughts - it may have cleared it all up.
