Don't think I've seen a thread for this one yet. Understandably as it's not the most attractive fixture for either side to get the season underway!

Posh fans how do you rate your chances this season?

We come up boasting a great away record over the last couple of years (especially last season). We've strengthened well and shown promise in pre season, though we definitely look a striker and a few goals short.

I predict this will go pretty much like most away games last year, you dominate possession and we defend with great organisation and heart and look to sneak a one goal victory on the break. Peterborough have a reputation for seeming to have high scoring games but i'm going under 2.5 goals.

1-1

This might be unpopular, but I struggle to get too enthusiastic for the first few games simply because it is still the cricket season. Moreover, this weekend I shall be out of the country where it is currently 40 degrees, and does not feel like football weather.

That said I pretty much agree with what PG said, we are likely to play a canny game away, but the goals are not likely to come from the strike force, but from midfield. We have an issue that we have two creative players, who essentially like to play the same position, so it may take a while to work how to use both.

I suspect our manager, Derek Adams, will take a while to get the hang of the division, which is precisely what he did in league two. Then in the second season changed the team to what he wanted, played less exciting footie but won more.

By the way if your manager is a bit mouthy, Adams will deliberately try to get under his skin but if he is okay he will be perfectly civil with him. Curle, Evans and Aitkinson won't be sending him a christmas card that is for sure. Getting under the skin of these abrasive managers is something many would see as a positive.

It's wingers that concern me. I think we have enough to stifle any midfield creativity/flair that Plymouth have but once teams work out we've got two midfielders playing wing backs we'll be in trouble from balls into the box.

The average age of our strikers is 12 and our best one is banned for the first six games. Between the first choice 5 strikers we have I think there's about 15 appearances between them.

Maddison still seems to be out best hope of creating anything and whilst the transfer window is still open I imagine he will put himself about a bit. If it closes and he hasn't got his move he'll sulk until January.

Very interesting. Last year we did not really have what you would call a proper winger until we got Kennedy on loan in Jan, this year we have a hatful, so not really sure how Adams will line up and use his wide men.

We have not got five strikers.

Yeah I understand you there mushroom! I play for Plymouth CC and we are in a relegation battle this season, so until the beginning of September it's a juggling act!

Today's the day come on you greens.

My cricket playing days are past me and Plymstock are pretty much relegated, but I usually take my youngest lad most Saturdays so he gets a few hours nets. Although their league stopped with the school holidays (I think he was in the Harold this week) they have the cup final on 9th September so he has to keep ticking over!

It is going to be a modest 34 degrees today.

Good luck later today.

1-0 down, struggling for goals as it is and our only decent striker off injured.

So glad football is back!

In dire need of a new striker. Won't happen until just before the end of the month though, possibly on deadline day.

Welcome to League 1; injustice, cheating players and crap referees. We made hard work of what should have been an easy win. The Lopes wing back experiment has got to stop.
