"A two-week Premier League mid-season player break in February has been approved to start from the 2019-20 season, the FA has announced.

The winter break ensures that Premier League matches will still be played over the period, with five top-flight games to be staged on the first weekend and five on the following weekend.
The FA has agreed to move FA Cup fifth-round matches to midweek in order to accommodate the planned break and, from the start of the 2019-20 season, fifth-round replays will be removed and replaced with extra-time and penalties.

"This is a significant moment for English football and one that we believe will greatly benefit both club and country," said Martin Glenn, chief executive of the FA.

Looks like Steven has finally realised what a vile, overly-commercial, moneymaking outfit he supports.

We're all here for you mate.

Who'll be the first manager to moan about how the break and surrounding fixtures fall for his club compared to it's rivals, how it's all a conspiracy.

Gotta be Mourinho right? (Assuming he's still in the job)

The point of the winter break is to happen halfway through the season not once three quarters of the games have already been played!
I suppose the winter break will come just before the CL/EL 1st KO stage ties. Pretty sure non-English sides will complain that this gives advantage to Prem clubs.

Oh well.

As a season ticket holder I dread the International breaks and the void that's left to fill without league football ,so whilst I hate being the dissenting voice here, I shudder at the thought of yet further interruption and another forced abstinence from football in February and feel the change is about as welcome as the return of Leprosy to this particular Kopite.
