The Premier league is 25 years old today...

The first ever goal came from a good old long throw into the area headed in by a big burly striker..

Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, Spurs and Liverpool all failed to win on the opening day back in 1992.

Some chap called A.Shearer got a couple of crackers.

How wold you rate its impact on the English game...

Great for the multi-millionaires of the game likes the players and the agents but for the fans has it turned football away from something for them into a big business with money and profit the main game?

Or made the football much more exciting and entertaining?

More entertaining to watch but less entertaining to follow in general.

Damn, 25 years since the confusion began. Before it all was so orderly (a thing that Germans really like) First division, 2nd, 3rd, 4th. Now the 4th division is League Two, ffs!

How wold you rate its impact on the English game...

Had no positive impact on the "English" game because there aren't many English players in it anymore (exaggerated I know but you know what I mean).
Big impact for the Mercenaries because suddenly they all want(ed) to play in England ("it was always my dream to play at Stoke on a rainy tuesday. If I can make it there, I'll make it everywhere ":D)

Or made the football much more exciting and entertaining?

English football was exciting before the Premier League, too. Tbh I don't like the "separatism" of the top league from the other leagues and I am again at the beginning of my sermon "Damn, 25 years since the confusion began...."

(I always bought my Rothmans Yearbooks since the 80's and read for hours the stats and then I had to put "Asterisks" in it for the "new divisions".

Watching the 1st MOTD of the Premier league - record transfer fees of 1 or million in those days. Gets you a right toe these days!

Ruined the game, it's no longer about going to watch your local club play football, it's a big business all about money and nothing to do with the fans. Most clubs wouldn't care if fans turned up or not provided they still got money, which is what sky and the TV deals is doing to the game.

Never mind the impact it's having on clubs championship and below
