I think our season will be defined on if our main starting XI can stay fit. We already have a lot of injuries as it is, and the squad is getting quite thin (maybe not a good idea to loan so many players out). If Bonatini gets injured we are relying on academy prospect Donovan Wilson to lead the line. Likewise if Neves gets injured, Jack Price will step in, whos ability is dwarfed on what Neves can do.

On the flip side we have had a very good start, all without our standout player of last season Helder Costa. When he's fit, our front line will be quite something for this level.

Costa played last night
And again

Oops !

We won't be taking part in this thread until we start attacking teams with pace and urgency, this slow ponderous shite we're watching at the minute will have us bang on mid table.

Cringe that anyone is giving it the big one at this stage, the league doesn't even begin to take shape until we're 17/18 games in.

At this stage last season, the likes of Bristol City and Birmingham were in the top 6, Norwich were 2nd.

Yes, he played for 20 mins and then was taken off because we were down to 10 men.

Where were all these Sheff Utd fans a couple of weeks ago?

Let them enjoy it while it lasts, even Leon Clarke has started banging the goals in, footballing gods are shining down on them at the minute.

I was pissed off last night and was thinking the season is a right off already, but when you think there's 36 games to go that's a hell of a lot of points to play for.

And it was after the upcoming international break things fucked up pretty fast for us last year, so feet firmly on the ground still!

To be honest, this thread will go to fuck when one particular Blade finds it and comes in here giving it big. I think he's still masturbating from Sunday, and it only got better for him last night. He's booking his future Champions League final tickets online now, on the grounds that Chelsea and Barca are looking bang average compared to the Blades back eight and Leon Clarke now having a passport.

Two groups
Cardiff, Sheff Utd and Preston NE have decent individuals but a good team framework with excellent managers. The key is injuries and how it upsets/ weakens the team balance.
So there’s an element of luck.

Wolves, Wednesday, Villa and Boro have quality indidual players.
The key is whether the respective managers can mould a team and also whether those teams can cope with the expectation (which brings its pressure) as games aren’t won on paper.

Over a long season logic suggests higher quality should rise to the top so both CC, SU and PNE are unlikely to stay up there. Plenty of time for everything to change.

Yep, we were still top 6 15 games in though!

Chris Wilder has to be the best manager outside of the Prem. What he is doing with that Sheff Utd squad is remarkable. An attack led by Leon Clarke and a midfield containing John Fleck for christ sake!

Well we wouldn't have been in a Promotions thread would we ? For the record I still don't think we'll be half seriously considered as Promotion contenders.
At 2-0 down Wulfs did start to play a bit in the second half.
We've got the numbers in respect of players, with cover and competition for places all over the pitch,
I'd be very impressed if we got anywhere near the Play Offs.

Villa will win it for me, just coming into some form now. They have too much quality. Along with Wolves and Cardiff for second spot!

As for us, I'm happy without a relegation scare.

To be fair we did knock on the door last season before completely fucking up with 6 games to go.

But the signs are good for PNE this season. Genuinely think from what I have seen we can achieve top 6 this season.

A lot can change but I don't fear anyone and feel we can win home or away against anyone

Fulham will be there or there abouts as well, steady start without key players.

Like I said, best manager outside the Prem. Getting L1 players performing wonders at Championship level. Bit like what Rafa’s doing at Newcastle with a Championship squad.

This'll be a handy little quote in March when you're 19th mate :hypo:

12 games played been the better team in 10 of them we definitely won't be finishing 19th

Been impressed with you guys this season, though annoying that we were probably one of the two and aren’t anywhere near you guys at the moment.

Cardiff outplayed us, Boro were better 1st half and you lot deserved a draw at least never mind a loss, however they were our 1st 3 games in a new league since then we just look better and better.

Was fun whilst it lasted. Unless we find a new way to play it'll be mid table for us unfortunately. Hopefully we'll be in a healthy enough position in January and unload some cash but signs have been worrying the last few weeks.

Not sure on us, we're good and can be excellent at times but we need to start finding that killer goal to turn 1 point into 3.

Harrop in particular is guilty for not having the composure to finish the game, missing the ball against Millwall and taking a bad touch to waste a good opportunity yesterday. He should have 5 or 6 this season.

Matter of time before we implode, will start next week against Leeds I expect as they always seem to slap us about.

Play like you did against us and I can't see Leeds beating you. Leeds have gone to shit.
