Anyone listened to any ska-punk? A sub genre I've only discovered recently but really loving it. No Doubt, Sublime, Less than jake, Reel big fish etc.
This is probably by favourite track from a fantastic band.

Great cover of a bob marley song, that's within the ska/punk genre

I love a bit of punk.

Hey StevenCC,

As you like the Test Tube Babies, here are a few more great albums from the same era that you may/may not know?

Don't know why it's not saving the whole album here?? But the album is BLACK LEATHER GIRL - this is the opening track

(cant find a copy of the full album BLOOD AND THUNDER for this, but worth checking out individual tracks from it)

2 albums here, but Clockwork Legion the better of the two IMO

D B Disco - Thanks for these mate. I've got an Abrasive Wheels album and I love the Anti Nowhere League (at least the first album that you posted there - they went a bit heavy metal later which is cool but they were shit at it) but I haven't heard The Blood, Major Accident or The Outcasts.

Pliny Harris - That's great - top song as well. I hadn't heard it before as I've only just got into them and only have their first album.

Just listening to their stuff on YouTube right now as some kind souls have uploaded it all. The Hanging Out In Georgetown/Kiss Ass To Your Peer Group couplet on their Early Months compilation is golden.

No problem.

Yeah your right about the League, but worth checking out their last album "Road to Rampton". Something of a concept album as it tells the story of someone's (Animal's?) life and how they ended up in Rampton mental hospital. Some good tracks on there, one of which is below.

Used to be bang into ska when I was a teenager. The UK was a bit of a hotbed in the late 90s/early 00s.

Ahhh Crass....one of the generation of thrash-punk bands.

Love punk, but found it really hard to get into this type of band - Exploited/Discharge etc.

Although I did like these guys.....

Can't have a punk rock thread without THE punk band on it, so here they are.

Has there ever been a better punk rock guitarist than Steve Jones? Here he is as well in his band after the Pistols, The Professionals.

My favourite pistols tune

And in response to the Q, Mick Jones. But I'm a little biased.

Other than the Misfits haven't really listened to much of that. Will have to give it a go.

Like the Sex Pistols and The Ramones (though they were more of an Americanised version of punk), but love The Clash even when they moved away from punk and into other genres.

I really want it to be spring right now so yeah, here's Rites of Spring. I heard this song aged 12 and was absolutely smitten. So evocative and full of a different kind of fury. Trying to look them up online in 2004 was too big an ask and I ended up being unsure whether they actually existed. Just hearing one song like this at that age is all you need.

Love it. I was a teenager at the height of Punk in the late 70's early 80's and saw loads of great bands at Cleethorpes Winter Gardens (sadly no more). SLF, The Skids, The Buzzcocks, The Subhumans, The Damned, 999, Spizz Energi, The Ruts, The Undertones, Cockney Rejects, UK Subs, Peter and the Test Tube Babies , Crass and loads more.

Got loads of old stuff on old vinyl still and bought quite a few of my favourite albums on CD. Still love the music now and got quite a few of these punk compilation albums too.

One of the best punk songs ever here. Was released just after the height of punk in 1983 but still a brilliant track, all 16 minutes of it.

Ahh, that explains why you didn't object to my "Mohican" reference in the picture thread! ;)
