No thread on this yet? I was looking forward to getting home and reading Carel's heartfelt tributes.

I am genuinely saddened by this though. Fuck cancer.

It's been mentioned in the "tune of the day" thread and a few people posted Bowie tracks etc.

Carel showed his face and I attempted to curse Rod Stewart.

A guid dram
The guy was a phenomenon. Constantly reinventing himself and had great diversity in songs and style throughout his career he was one of the most influential people of the 20th century. Was only reading about his latest album the other day and it looks like it was to be his epitaph.

This is as big as Michael Jackson, (overated) John Lennon or Elvis dying.

One of the true greats for sure,

RIP David Bowie

Yeah, blimey, can't believe there wasn't a fred for this.

I'm not really one to dwell on celebrity deaths but I genuinely felt shocked and saddened at this news. Such a gigantic figure in pop culture, this definitely feels like a huge loss. He leaves behind a tremendous body of work - might have to give his back catalogue a good spin tonight in tribute...

Make sure to give Tonight and Never Let Me Down a miss.

Born in the 60s, I grew up with Bowie in my musical life. A one-off who will be missed.

I've spent the afternoon with all the Bowie tracks I own (143 apparently) on shuffle.

RIP.

Oh man, this one stings. I grew up in the same town and went to the same school he did, he was my dad's idol and thus became one of mine too.

Truly a unique artist, and one who'll be missed.

RIP David.
