The game that kickstarted our season last season and our first away win in 250 years. We won't repeat it.

3-1 Reading and another inept performance from a Villa side that is FAR too over reliant upon one (currently injured) player.

Johnstone
Bree Chester Terry Taylor
Hourihane Whelan
Adomah Lansbury Green
Hogan

Is what I'd like to see, probably won't though.

I was at this fixture last season, hope Reading get their revenge, mainly for Jade leaving Lord Gabby out of his starting 11.

Not sure what formation we're playing, no strikers starting! Probably going for the smallest front 5 in the Championship with this..

Mannone, Gunter, Blackett, McShane, Moore, van den Berg, Kelly, Swift, Clement, Barrow, Popa
Subs: Jaakola, Beerens, Evans, Mendes, McCleary, Bacuna, Ilori.

At least for the first time this season we actually have a bench with decent options on.

I think this game is very important to both sides. A win and 4 points from 3 tricky games would represent a decent start. A loss and it has been terrible. Draw doesn't really suit either of us.

Fair play, if Steve Bruce can't get you sorted in this league then you've got something seriously wrong

No shit. I'd love to know what the problem is now, we've changed the owner and the board, changed the manager, changed 90% of the squad, what more can be done? The worrying part is we seem to have gotten worse since Bruce has got his own signings in, he's signed players to play across the floor and keep possession, and then plays hoof ball, it's baffling.

How is John Terry doing?

Fine, actually, he's not been at fault for a whole lot and funnily enough, one centre half can't solve a whole team's problems.

It's possible that you have players that don't know how to deal with the expectancy at Villa. I don't mean players like JT here, but possibly players loke Hogan, the Barnsley players, etc who have never been in that sort of environment. Villa is a club that could and should be top 2 really. After years of being shit the fans will be used to getting on the players back, especially after a couple of defeats.

Steve Bruce is a chancer. Tactically inept. I was sad at the circumstances in which he left us after the successes we'd had under him, but in truth he should have been given the push at least a year before.

Possibly, yes, but when he's not playing to their strengths (such as long ball with Hogan as a lone striker, come on!), there is something wrong. I do agree that the expectancy levels are high, but they were always going to be, the players should have known that. A lot of our fans (boo boys, I'm looking at you) don't really help matters a lot of the time, but when your manager is playing such horrendous football with players who are much more suited to a passing style it's a double whammy.

Sadly, this is looking more and more true.

Back to the drawing board. Again.

Not helped by your signings this Summer, which I think have been shocking personally. Elmohamady has been utter garbage for us for the last two or three years, and I still can't get my head around John Terry (and making him captain!). You're clearly missing Kodjia, but what's been done to bring in another striker?

Bruce is finished now, certainly at Villa and maybe completely. He'd do well to pack football in completely. He's clearly on the verge of the push given your owner was liking tweets last night that were slagging off the manager.

Elmo was (we thought) a back up to Adomah, which is fine. Terry was a decent signing, but giving him the captaincy seems to have ruined Chester's confidence (understandably) and I'd genuinely rather still have Baker than to have signed Terry, we had a settled defence, and defence was nowhere near a problem last season.

We are over reliant upon Kodjia, but we signed McBigmac and Hogan recently too, two strikers who haven't exactly been goal shy until they've ended up at the graveyard of footballer's careers. We shouldn't still need a new striker, it's the chance creation that's the problem, and we have the players for that, just not the freedom for them to be able to create chances.

I think he's either gone by the weekend or when we lose to Norwich he'll be off.

I just feel like Terry is one of those players you sign in the twilight of their career when they really don't give much of a toss anymore and their best days are long behind them. I'd be fuming if I was James Chester if I'd had the captaincy taken off me like that. I'm surprised Bruce has done it having worked with him before and knowing what a great player and professional Chester is.

Has Elmo started every game? How's he looked? I'm not surprised Bruce took him given that he brought him to us from Sunderland. For the first couple of years he looked incredible at RWB, but we later abandoned the wingback system and he looked lost at either RB or RW. His final ball is atrocious, he's lazy and defensively very weak.

I can't really judge Elmo to be honest, looked meh against you lot and hasn't really played since, as he got injured early on against Cardiff. Still to be seen with him, though he has been playing at RW.

Jansson was banned opening game we conceded 2
since then 2 clean sheets at 1/3 the wages :D
