I admire your optimism GFC4EVA thinking there's still a "chance". We're absolutely abject.

I prefer mild exaggeration. I would rather play 11 Duncan Jupp's in every game than the current mob.

Our lot were abysmal today by all accounts. The club needs clarity on what's happening moving forward and Sheridan needs backing or sacking. He is clearly affected by events going on behind closed doors and if things don't sort themselves we could be down by christmas

Hello :bye:.

We will be firmly in this if we continue to play as we did today.

We're going down. Adams has lost the dressing room. 4 sending offs in 4, but the Board can ill afford to pay him off.

I think having a team that's currently worst than the one we had in league 2 without being able to strengthen until January means we could be cut adrift by the time we find our feet

No one will be cut adrift of Gillingham who are definitely as bad as their fans say

So basically like a repeat of Port Vale last year

Got to have optimism cos we have nothing else

Thinking about our pre season prediction conversation I must admit I did not think Shrewsbury would be 17 points above Gills after 9 games. There is a long way to go yet.

We will go down (along with Plymouth) because we haven't got a goalscorer.

You know it is a bad situation when Oldham have as many goals as us and Argyle combined.

Might be out with this one, but all Oldham ever seem to do is fight relegation to L2. Got to catch up with them soon, surely?

Been saying it all season we won't be down here for long. We have finally sorted our keeper situation out and we look more solid at the back.

We have some very good footballers at the club it just hasn't clicked.

Tonight it clicked

Have a feeling Oxford are going to be here soon.

We introduced ourselves a couple of days before you posted this

Oldham can fuck off if they think they're this year's Port Vale. We have our names all over that accolade.

On the plus side, I think we have already got more points than when we were last relegated from L1.

Longer we stick with a known failure the longer it will be difficult to get out of this.

We've been here before with the same bloke and went on a 17 winless run, we can't afford to not sack the useless crock of shit again

Unless we can magic up a goalscorer from somewhere we'll be here all season. We'll scrape enough points from draws to not get cut adrift because the team as a whole is competitive and good enough to stay up, but we've scored 5 goals in our last 15 games and only found the net 8 times in our last 23 matches.

How many new dawns have you falsely predicted, though? For the past couple of years, every time I have clicked in one of these threads you have been in a pulpit of your own making shouting 'hallelujah'.

That is pretty much the life and times of a latics fan. We get promised the world twice a season only to have the rug pulled from under your feet. It's become a regular occurrence.

There has been :

The sports direct deal -flopped
New stadium-fell through
Redevelopment-fell through/stalled
Johnson building a great team and doing a bunk 6 weeks before the end of the season.

Just the tip of the iceberg, but I treat each one with excitement, and believe each time something comes around it is going to change our fortunes. If you don't have belief what's the point

Cody been injured?

Cody been rubbish, frankly. Runs around enthusiastically enough but seems a bit heavy. Irritating for defenders without being remotely dangerous. Not entirely his fault because the way our forward line is structured means he's often competing on his own in the air with his back to goal. However he's still had enough chances to score a few - but clinical isn't exactly the word you could use to describe his finishing so far.

I do think we'll steady ourselves and never really flirt with the drop zone, but i'm worried enough to pop my head in here, luckily there's some absolute dross so as it stands it looks like a couple of spots may already be taken

Whose the dross in your opinion?

I reckon we will pull away, and bury (once they get rid of clark) will as well. Plymouth and gills I think will struggle though
