For me I wouldn't of kept Logan or Mellis. (If he signs) Both big earners and in Olejnik and Khan we are still strong but nevermind.

Hamilton will have interest and maybe Pearce and Benning too. Plenty wanted Rose last Summer but a poor season for him may put anyone off this time around.

Don't think that's harsh enough personally. I would have released 5 or 6 and brought in 2 or 3 most probably. At least we know our team is reasonably strong heading into the season.

They are pretty much all under contract so you couldn’t release 5 or 6.

Personally I would have released Logan, and if we get any decent offers on Macca or Rose I would think it’s best to sell too.

We could have transfer listed some though. There's some players on that list who realistically are never going to get near the first team, so there's no point in keeping them. There's a few players who have been decent first teamers but aren't good enough to be part of a promotion campaign, so move them on and attempt to bring in two or three players who are going to improve that first 11.

It's not my money anyway. Maybe we will still get those two or three signings that improve the first 11.

They got stung from the ‘transfer list’ thing last season, I’m almost certain some of those under contract are available but they are just going about it differently.

Strangely, no news yet on any of our current contracted players being put on the transfer list. Anyone fancy taking any of these?

GK: Richard O’Donnell
RB: Joe Riley
RB: Kelvin Mellor
CB: Anthony O’connor
LB: Connor Wood
RW: Sean Scannell
CM: Jake Reeves
CM: Hope Akpan
CM: Josh Wright
LW: Jordan Gibson
LW: Tyrel Robinson
ST: Omari Patrick
ST: Eoin Doyle
ST: Shay McCarten

.....please?
I'd have O'Donnell back in a heartbeat.

Fair point, transfer listing could have been a good message from a PR point of view i.e. look at the calibre of some players we are moving on, they are not good enough for Mansfield and we want better. We are shopping higher.

I don’t think he’s a bad keeper. Put a decent defence in front of him and he’s solid - especially for L2.

Only saw him over the two play-off games but really rated that Gethin Jones from Mansfield. Is he likely to stay at Fleetwood or potentially drop to League 2 again? Wouldn't mind signing him if those two games were anything to go by.

It took a while for him to settle but his performances were steadily improving and I did like him. I'm not sure if he's a top category player though, probably one of our weaker first teamers overall.

I liked Jones - got unfair criticism from our fans due to the fact he was playing wing back and he looked more of a full back to me.

Pretty much the first thing he did for Mansfield was boot half of our keepers teeth out lol.

Gunning punished for his moment of madness in Birkenhead? Collins looked fairly reliable too.

Aside from who Daddy is, what has Charlie Cooper done to deserve anew deal? Reminds me of John Aldridge’s ineffective son Paul getting a few games at Tranmere while Dad was in charge.

Problem is with Jones is that he came in to replace Haydn White, which is near impossible.

Did a decent job though and could be a good signing for somebody at this level.

He was pretty ineffective too, but I wonder if that was because he wasn't match fit/not quite fit enough to play wing back when he joined. Like you say, he probably wasn't used to playing wing back when he joined. I think his worst game was at Oldham where a couple of goals came down his side and he seemed to be miles away.

Hard to say with Gunning, guess the problem is that Cooper has tried to play him in midfield, where I think we have better options. I wouldn't have him in the centre of defence ahead of Rawson and McGinley, so maybe Cooper thinks it is an opportunity to find a better player to put those two under pressure for a place.

Who knows with Cooper Jnr, the club say that an option has been triggered in his contract but don't mention by whom. I have always thought that he was a decent player, a bit young and raw but with considerable room for development and improvement. At the same time I think the interests of all concerned would be best served by him being elsewhere. Who knows what will happen, whether he is in contention for a return to the team or spends much or all of the season away on loan. Odd.

Lee Collins can definitely still do a job for someone. Suppose his career is winding down but he's rarely let us down when played.

For me Mansfield basically need attacking players, a new attacking midfielder, two strikers (maybe three if we sell Rose) a replacement for CJ because I can only imagine he will leave for a huge fee this summer.

A new full back/wing back too - Luke O’Neill has been mentioned on stagsnet after his release from Gillingham and I would welcome that if it’s doable.

When Paul 'Luggy' Sturrock was in charge of us he signed his son Blair (I think he did the same another 3 clubs - Argyle, Dundee United and Southend) who clearly was not a great striker.

To be fair to him, he always put a shift in and what he lacked in talent he made up for in effort.

disappointed that we have released Hannant. I thought he had enough for this league at least. I would have given Angus another season as well.

Full clear out, only Conlon which has been agreed already and Hornby actually given new deals.

we need to have some quality coming in, and not the likes of Lloyd. We can expect 6 or 7 incoming depending who accepts contract extensions.

Im assuming we wont keep Rawlinson

I thought Blair Sturrock was decent when we had him briefly on loan from you, just couldn't stay fit.

Quite a few players being released or at the end of their contracts this season.
On the Fourth Division footballer merry go round there'll be a lot of familiarity of players playing against former clubs. With their new clubs hoping for better performances than they produced for their old during this season.
