Some serious cash being banded about by them. Do fans of clubs who have spent time in non league believe the division is a forgone conclusion with the cash being spent or can the other clubs muster a shock? Personally I'd rather see clubs do it on merit than toy clubs being unsustainably funded

When NL fans are wanting FGR, Crawley and Fleetwood back with their level of money, it tells you everything you need to know. If the rumours are correct about Salford paying out £3k-£5k a week on wages, then that's above what the aforementioned three were paying and is crazy, crazy money.

They'll be paying their top earners more than the annual budget of a handful of teams this season.

Nathan Pond, Danny Lloyd and 3 or 4 others shouldn't be anyway near Salford if their intentions were right.

Salford are spending nearly double that of FGR. FGR were outspending us. Farcical really but they’ll just stump up a series of dodgy sponsorships to get past FFP after they walk that league.

This is an odd one and, for obvious reasons, something I rarely bother to comment on. I think you will find that there have been times in the history of every club when a person, or company, poured money into a team to give it an advantage over others. Sometimes, like ourselves, that will have led ultimately to a promotion. In many cases, particularly with teams in the top division, it may have enabled the team to compete for a title or even a place in a European competition. Next season it may be Salford, they aren't the first and definitely won't be the last, it is the way that football is.

They're building a club and good on them. It'll be great for Salford as a city to have a football league team - who knows, with their connections it's not inconceivable they'll make the PL in good time.

No i'm serious. I may even catch some games and put into this project. Some should appreciate the cycle - this is Salford's time to rise up and shoot for the stars.

They'll probably come in to the FL but League 1/2 would be there limit unless serious amount of money was involved and even then I don't see it happening. The people of Salford are more interested in watching their favourite team on the box. I think they averaged about 1600 last season but that was in an Northern League. Be interesting to see what they average this season but I'll be surprised if its much more.

Forget the 'Class of 92', they're 50% owned by Peter Lim (a guy worth $2.5bn). They will invest whatever it takes.

As Luke Imp suggested the other day, the only problem they'll have is FFP but no doubt they'll find a way round it.

Watched the TV programmes about them and they seemed to be building it up steadily in relation to where they were, improving the ground etc but they’ve really gone to town this year. Decent manager, signed the likes of Chris Neal, Adam Rooney from Aberdeen etc.

They should walk that league and then we will see. If spending around £3k a week wages as rumoured widely then they’d certainly be likely to challenge the top end of league two if they come up and easily stabilise in league one like Fleetwood for example.

He'll have to lose a lot of money to get past League 1 and stay in the champ. He's not made that amount of money by being an idiot. I just don't see them getting that far - the top two leagues are slowly being closed off to everyone else.

Once Bootle boys and known wheeler dealers Steve McManaman & Jamie "spitty" Carragher see the success they'll be making moves. With macca lad and spitty being homeboys they'll be the frontmen but the likes of Gerrard, Owen, Fowler, Hamann and others - maybe some Everton boys (unless they do their own thing, Knowsley perhaps?) putting in and turning Bootle FC into a force. This isn't like the old days. These boys have coin and more importantly are friends by association with impressionable super rich figures.

What's the point of Salford City. Not like they'll ever get a proper fan base
They'll be PL within 8 years.

There are plenty of examples of smaller, lesser fancied teams beating money bags/big former FL teams to the title in the National League. Macclesfield, Lincoln, Cheltenham, Barnet. With such huge expectations for Salford, this is ripe for them to mess it up. They'll be up here eventually and it'll be another detestable money bags club to hate. Lovely.

What Neville, the 92 and Lim are doing to that club is a disgrace. Unfortunately, I think their pockets are deep enough to see this through for the long haul. Once they get up here, they'll be here for a while I'm sure.

I cant see where there fan base will come from, given the two giants on their doorstep, not to mention all the current league clubs that orbit outer Manchester.

Some seriously desperate efforts from Abertawe to get some bites, seen him do this on other threads too, always keeps trying, very very sad.
You're a **** no way am I having that off you. You might not know dickhead having never left your council estate but Salford just by being on the edge of new build Manchester is in a mild boom. Your perceptions are more & more coming from Salford now due the land price in London. If Wigan with Mr jjb man can make it then only a moron would discount Salford with their connections coming out their arse and a multi billionaire funding it.

tbh you are a moron aren't you so the cap fits. I remember you from the shoutbox. You lambasted the NHS for wait time despite wasting their time being there. You are Karen Matthews level of civilian - understand that.

Salford is surrounded by a plethora of established league teams. Wigan at least was a one team town in Rugby League land.

Salford were getting one man and his dog turning up before the 92 got involved. It really is a poor choice of a play thing

Crawley, Fleetwood, FGR don't exactly pull in massive crowds though to be fair. What may boost Salford is the massive press coverage they have had due to the 92 involvement.

They will get decent away followings visit their ground too in the EFL as there are so many clubs within easy travel distance, take this season for eg. Oldham, Bury, Vale, Crewe, Macclesfield, Tranmere, Carlisle would travel well there, not too far for Morecambe.

If anything a better chance of succeeding than say Fleetwood or Crawley I would think.

I get the impression that they're drawing their support from pissed off FCUM supporters.

Struggling to see why Adam Rooney would leave one of the top 3 clubs in Scotland and also in the Europa League (at the time of typing) for non league English football. I doubt money would have been a huge factor as I could imagine he would have been on similar money at Aberdeen to what Salford are currently paying him. From an outside view it looks like when you go on editor mode on Football Manager and just sign anyone and everyone with an unlimited budget. Shit for the rest of the National League as they're effectively playing for a playoff position before a ball has been kicked.

Would be ironic if some non league clogger from someone like Harrogate clattered him and injured him for the rest of the season.

Population of Salford is around 240,000. That s plenty of people to support a football club.
Derby has 250,000, Ipswich 144,000.
With a chairman who's a multi billionaire it looks a matter of time before they become a league team.

I'm not suggesting it's ludicrous based on population, location or anything else like that. I just hate the whole premise. They'll be another club born out of riches with plenty queuing up to call them out as a joke.
