No thread started yet so I thought I'd throw this out there. I haven't a clue how this will go. We've lost some players, we've signed some players. We don't have a very good record as far as the first match of the season goes - not in the EFL, anyway.

I won't be there, I rarely do away matches so I'l be listening online.

Great season last year for Scunny and see no reason for them not to be challenging again. Would'nt have been surprised if GA had'nt gone to PNE as manager- plenty of time yet . 2-1 for the hosts

I can see a bog standard 2-1 home win, a hard fought 0-1 away win or a draw. I think it'll be very close, no more than one goal in it either way, if there is to be a winner. I'll go with a 1-1 draw. We are struggling a bit at both ends. I'm hoping for us to get a clean sheet, but I don't think it'll happen.

?...I'll go with a 1-1 draw...

Good call!! A fair result I thought. Scunthorpe looked very good in the first half and could have scored a couple more. 2nd half we were the better team and could (should?) have won it in the end. Scunthorpe will definitely be up there come the end of the season. Great chat with some home fans in the Irons bar too. Long coach journey home now!!

I thought you were the better team by far. We were awful. Barcham played well

Well, that was pretty much as I thought it would be. Wimbledon turned out to be better than us, particularly second half. They had the better chances and really should have done better, particularly our ex players, Barcham and Taylor.

Shocking set up by our negative manager, Alexander. One up top and Madden as well. FFS, what a waste! Hopper should have started, if we are going to play this wing-back crap. Long ball with brog it up from the back. This is League 2 shite and that is where we will eventually end up if we play this screwed up formation.

I agree Hedonist Puncture. Absolute shite. Townsend was our only decent player today. Wimbledon had 68 per cent possesion today and should have come away with the win. Good support from the Wombles as well

I liked your lad up front... #16? Looks a good player. You seemed to have a lot of energy in the first half but then lost your way in the second. Think you irons are being a little bit harsh, IMHO.

I thought Hakeeb had a good first half, but faded badly and poor marking? from him for their equaliser. We didn't get hold of the ball for long enough and Wimbledon did. That should not be happening at home.

BOAO, Hakeeb Adelakun is the lad you are talking about. A real talent, particularly for this level. Lack of consistency lets him down. Note the difference in his performance from first to second half.

Your tactics second half contributed to us losing our way. Possession football will do that and I thought you did well. You will be safe, no doubt. I saw that last season after we beat you at your place. You looked easily good enough to stay up last season and if you play like you did second half today, you'll be fine. Sharpen your finishing and you will surprise many.

We were shite. A few moments first half, but it was rubbish after that. Awful to watch us play like that. We are much better 4-4-2 or 4-3-3. Our manager should have been sacked immediately after conceding the second leg play-off semi-final versus Millwall last season. His negative game plan costs us a place at Wembley. His stubbornness with this wing back crap will cost us.

That formation is just so stupid. Madden isn’t good enough to be a lone striker. Drop this formation before it’s too late.

I know this is only one game bit all those predicting us to go down should watch this game and realise we are too good to drop.

Bit late to this, and probably already covered somewhere, but what's the crack with Abdul signing a new one year deal at Millwall and then immediately getting loaned out? He's not exactly a young lad and they haven't made their mind up on him yet.

Not sure how true this is, but I heard that he was due a testimonial next year so they wanted to honour that.

Decent signing for us either way, by the looks of things.

Most pleasing thing about today was being a bit disappointed that we didn't win. Makes a change from the crushing disappointment of being gubbed again...

Thought first half was end to end stuff where it looked like we were finding our feet and Scunthorpe looked dangerous when they switched play quickly and went two on one on our full backs. A slight reorganisation at half time and we were the stronger team in the second half. Three great chances to win it, very encouraging.

I was listening and providing updates for the istadium. Their goal aside, we sounded the better team. ifollow need to get their act together though - no connection until about 4 minutes in and the connection dropped out twice. Oh well, onto Brentford on Tuesday - I'll be there.

Nothing silly about it at all. I was calling for his head after the Millwall defeat. Unacceptable team selection. He should have been replaced this summer. He was negative at Fleetwood and he is too negative for me. Madden up top on his own and playing defensively in the first game and at home? Give me a break. The only way Alexander will get any mileage from me is if we get promoted. We'll see how Swann reacts as the season progresses. His track record is of giving face to his managers. Hope he doesn't leave it too late if we are not challenging for promotion.

Scunthorpe fans... was Mirfin poor in the air with you?? Looked all over the place yesterday, didn't win a single header and looked very immobile. Thought we'd signed a top defender, doesn't look like it. Been the same all preseason too

It is true that he had ten years coming up this season, but seems a bit sentimental of a Championship club to look after a player like that. If we're paying his full wages then it's not costing Millwall anything though.

Thought he looked a bit lost out on the right yesterday until Taylor came on and started getting behind the Scunthorpe defence, which Appiah had totally failed to do. Result of that was Abdou could drift into the middle and grab his goal.

Mirfin never was that good in the air for me. Much better on the deck, particularly with his quality reading of the game. He has been a very solid CB for us, but Mark Robins tried to get rid of him against most fans wishes. Graham Alexander reinstated him and he done well for us, but has not been in full time training I believe. He has struggled with injuries. Sort of patch him up and wheel him out for the games. I was sorry to see him go, but his time had come. Fitness was creeping up on him. I was very surprised that he was given a contract by you. You appear to have a lot of ambition and signing Mirfin looked a retrograde step. I expected him to drift into non-league and play occasionally. Having said all that, I wish him well. He was a tremendous servant to us over the years and a quality player during his time. I'm not sure you'll find any improvement in him, as I suspect his fitness will let him down these days.
