Have for some reason decided to go to this, even worse decision is i'm on the coach as the train was bloody expensive, hopefully we'll continue our 100% start to the (league) season or else the journey home is gonna be even worse

I think we'll start with the same team as we did against Pompey, Van Kessel had a debut to remember but I think for now we'll keep him on the bench as an impact sub. Looks like Marvin Johnson will at least be here for the weekend and hopefully he tries to impress potential suitors instead of looking disinterested, will also be interesting to see how Ricardinho looks, after a really positive debut he's clearly lacking fitness so hopefully he'll get even better as he gets sharper

If we play Hopper and Holmes, we'll do alright.

If we don't play them, we will struggle.

Either 1-1 or a 0-1 loss I think.

1-1 draw written all over it. I'll take that as Oxford are clearly a very good team and I think they will go up . Clotet looks like he will be a good appointment.

If we do win, it'll be another Oldham turnaround as we don't win at Scunny. Think we will come unstuck and lose as I'm a pessimist where football is concerned.:conf:

Yeah you guys played well, think a draw would have been a fair result but you definitely deserved it more than us, still early days though and we'd have been very happy with 6 points from 3 games before the season started so not too bothered

Thought it was a very good game. First game was pretty even, Oxford probably just edged it. We had most of the 2nd half, Oxford has a few counter attacks but we were mostly in control.

Thought Oxford were a good side, clearly had something about them. I think they lost the game when they begin to play for the point. Midway through the 2nd half time wasting started to happen and the game turned a little scrappy. Oxford seem to have more technical ability than us so that suited us more than anything. Nice finish by Morris, he played quite bad again though.

There's no way we were "time wasting and playing for a point" in the second half. We went two up top with our substitutes to try to win the game and left ourselves too open to the counter, which resulted in Scunthorpe's goal. We then went slightly more direct trying to chase the game for the last ten minutes, which is not our game, and played into your two big centre half's hands. Still nearly resulted in a goal at the death, when we hit the bar.

Agree that we were better for (most of) the first half and you were on top for (most of) the second. Good game between two good teams who will both be up there at the end of the season. We are still work in progress, had no Marvin Johnson yesterday, and will definitely get better as the players bed in and those who are not 100% match fit (which is about 3 or 4 of the late arrivals), get sharper.

I'd also struggle to agree we ever played for a point (other than when we were a goal down ha)

Your keeper was told to hurry it up by the ref quite a few times. For a lot of the 2nd half you also had a lot of men behind the ball and we're pretty much solely playing on the counter.

Look, we've pretty much agreed on the fact that it was a close game between two good sides, with one on top for each half, but there's a big difference between playing on the counter (which I agree we did for about 30 minutes of the second half) and playing for a draw and time wasting. You pushed us back, and turned our defence, in the second half. Well done, but that doesn't mean we were playing for a draw, it was the way the game developed. No idea about Eastwood being told to hurry up, it was the other end of the pitch, so I'll take your word for it.

Different subject, but you don't appear to have a forum, at least not one I can find? I always like to see what opposition fans have to say, even if I don't always agree with it.

We only have Iron-Bru which you need to a member to see. The place is pretty quiet anyway, just full of old men that like to complain. You're better looking on twitter.

Cheers. I found the Iron-Bru one and found it odd that you have to register. As you say, must make it a very quiet place and also deter opposition fans from contributing. Mind you, I am one of those old men who likes to argue, so I might fit in well ;-)

One more thing, I can't find any details of our away following yesterday. Do Scunny not publish them?

Nope, no idea why either. We did and then randomly last season we decided not too. I'll be able to find it out when we're next at home as they get put in the programme.

Iron-Bru deters all fans (including most Scunny ones) from contributing and is a bore, same old same old. There is no age restriction, but if you enjoy arguing over mundane things related to football, you may enjoy it. The non football section can be interesting I guess, particularly if you like to argue, but for the passer-by, the forum membership requirement tells you all what you really need to know about this self-important site.
