Potential banana skin this game. For Carlos Carvalhal in particular, it's a must win according to most sources, otherwise he will be sacked. If Sheff Wed go for it, it should work into our favour. Most of our frustrating games this season have been when teams stick 10 men behind the ball and we can't break them down (Sunderland last week). Wolves will be forced into at least once change from last week, with Barry Douglas picking up an injury from the Sunderland game. Don't know much about the Sheff Wed team news, but Carvalhal will have to watch it from the stands while serving a 1 match suspension. As of lunchtime today we have sold 1191 tickets, which to be honest is pretty crap (even though it's a Friday TV match a week before Christmas, need to get the excuse in early).

Ruddy
Coady - Boly - Bennett
Doherty ------------------ Vinagre
Neves - Saiss
Cav ------------- Jota
Bonatini
Sheff Wed 1-2 Wolves (Hooper 12, Cavaleiro 34, Bonatini 57)

We will lose this 100%, Wolves play with everything we don't, high tempo, pace and actually shoot on target. Think this could be the end of Carlos, god knows what the team will be, all I know is it's going to be cold and grim viewing.

Lee, Westwood (golf pun intended) and Bannan have all been dropped from the entire squad tonight?

Hillsborough looks very very empty, many season ticket holders not bothered by the looks of it

By my reckoning, a team full of players that Wednesday don't have out tonight:

Westwood

Hunt Venacio Lees Pudil

Boyd Lee Hutchinson Bannan

Fletcher Forestieri

Easy excuse for Carlos if they lose then. Fair few 1st team players out that but he used to make loads of changes regularly when he was doing well with them

Great goal, been a tad dull otherwise, Cav and Bennett off at the half, Cav been ineffective and wasteful and Bennett is playing like some Sunday league stand on your toes at corners knuckle dragger centre back.

Should be 1-1, I'd actually keep Cav on now and withdraw Jota, seems to be getting frustrated at the cynical fouls on him, and he is already booked.

Another scrappy 1-0, will take that all day long on a freezing Friday night up in Sheffield. 11 points above 3rd as of tonight, we can start to dream.

Yeah that's the thing to be please about, as Blademan said, Wednesday on the face of it seemed to do a good job of nullifying Wolves, but that was all they did.

When you win playing as shite as that things are pretty much going perfect. Well i say you were shite, you conceded 1 chance all game but that's about all any team does against Wednesday at the minute, you looked disappointing going forward though. But 3 points, miles clear you are up.

The last 3 games we haven't been at our best really, but we got 7 points out of 9 and haven't conceded a goal. I think a few of the players are tired because they're playing every game, but how can you change a winning team? There's a lot of games in the next few weeks, and a couple of defeats and things don't look so good. Anyone can beat anyone in this league, that's the beauty of it.

In the 2001/02 season we were 10 points clear of 3rd at Christmas and ended up bottling it and losing to Norwich in the playoffs. I'm quietly confident but we've all seen us cock it up before.

Wolves seemed to play at a strange tempo in the final 3rd, kept holding the ball too long. Think we should look at resting Jota and giving Costa a start, and certainly hope we've thought about a backup to Bonatini in January. I was hoping we'd see a bit more of Wilson, don't think he's injured as sure I saw he had scored the other day from the Twitter youth account.

Don't think we deserved to lose, were probably good value for a point but as Bladesman said we barely create anything and are boring as watching paint dry. We get into good positions but the final ball or cross is abysmal, considering we have 18 fit players I thought there were some decent performances particularly from Loovens and Reach, but not enough.

Wolves will go up, they have the habit of playing poorly but still picking up the win, they didn't look like a side top of the league but were well organised and you could see they had another gear to go up. Neves is a joke at this level, that was the finish of a player that was starting for Porto in the Champions League last season.

Jesus christ, Wednesday did fuck all.

None of Ross Wallace, Adam Reach (who did play well), Jacob Butterfield or Gary Hooper actually created anything, even when two big men came on and they could just launch it into the box towards them they still didn't create a chance. Having said that, Wednesday's defence was very solid, I felt Van Aken and Loovens did very well, with Palmer making good surging runs from full-back. They were let down a bit by Morgan Fox having a shocker though (does he ever play well?).

Wolves were solid too, with the 3 centre-backs having good games. Matt Doherty was superb at wing-back and Neves played very well in midfield (his finish was superb too). Bontani, Jota and Cavaleiro weren't great though, but when Helder Costa came on Wolves looked a bit more dangerous.

Well they did create a chance, Reach missed a great chance at 0-0.

That was pretty much the only chance they had to be honest. Hooper had another at the back post if he could've cushioned his header towards Wallace, but that was it really.

Pretty much spot on, Palmer was probably our best player. The problem is the movement in front of the midfield isn't great and the wingers are so tucked in, we are so narrow. The full backs are supposed to provide the width but are not good enough at that job, so they are constantly going backwards and sideways, Rhodes makes good runs but we ignore him. Fox is more of a centre back IMO, done well the last few weeks but wouldn't mind seeing him on the left of a back 3 with Reach and Hunt playing as wing backs.

Westwood

Hunt
Lees
Van Aken
Fox
Reach

Bannan
Lee/Butterfield
Hutchinson/Jones

Forestieri/Abdi

Rhodes

Why drop Loovens? He looked good last night.

Been great for us and did do well last night, but he's 34 and out of contract in the summer, and most of the time he's played this season he's looked shot to shit!
