Can't bloody wait. Looks like we'll be playing with 3 centre halves and wing backs, but who exactly will be in the first 11 is a bit of a mystery. It could click straight away or take some time. Heading up on the train for this one as well, full of optimism, although the Shrews fans also seem optimistic about their summer recruitment.

2-1 Town (The claret ones, obviously)

I will be driving up for this one. Literally have no idea what to expect, we havnt been great in pre season and as mentioned above now gone 3 at the back which we havnt really had a lot of time to put into practice. I feel like we could have done with another decent pre season game as people like Crooks have only had 2 lots of 45 mins to be ready.

Expecting a draw here, probably 1-1, think the Shrews will struggle this season based upon the squad I saw in the other thread.

Quite optimistic about this season (for not being in too much danger of relegation), hopefully that optimism isn't deflated during our first game of the season.

Had a look on Northampton message board, apparently we are a very poor side. ......... God help Northampton then.

A comfortable and well deserved win for Shrewsbury, even if wasteful in front of goal.

They have a weird idea about what constitutes better side mate, no worries though, they'll be gone after this season

The Lenny/Hurst bromance off to a flyer in its second fling. I trust you'll be continuing the "HIS NAME IS A SHOP" chant*? How did the rest of the ex-Mariners stack up yesterday, Salopians? I'll be keeping an eye out for your results this season, got you down as potential dark horses and as previously said, I've got a lot of time for Hurst, Nolan, Henderson, Toto and LJL.

*All credit to Bury of course.

On yesterdays performance you are, and we was worst. If we was playing anyone better we would have got proper spanked.
Absolutely dreadful game of football

We looked a bit better when he came on but that was probably because we took the completely ineffectual Taylor off rather than him playing well

Decent result for Salop, I thought it was gonna end goalless but LJL popped up with a winner with a tidy finish. It was our first win on the opening day for something like 7 or 8 seasons. I thought we were solid both in defence and midfield, however a but lightweight up front. We need more support up top instead of playing a lone striker, especially at home. Northampton brought a good following but I'm sure most, if not all of their fans will be disappointed in their performance. We had 2 good penalty shouts turned down, thought the one on Ogogo was a stone waller but instead the ref saw it as simulation. Northampton should have been awarded a pen just after the goal, but it wasn't given.

The chant did come out briefly afterwards, but it didn't last long as the crowd got quite nervous at the sight of Toto tripping the NTFC player inside the box, only for the ref to award a free kick just outside. I heard it again outside the stadium after full time.

As for the ex GTFC players: Nolan was excellent fans already love him. Henderson had nothing to do really although he did get caught out of position in the first half, the player went round him but the powderpuff effort was easily cleared off the line. Toto was immense, just one blot on the copy book which was the afore-mentioned trip but nothing else. LJL hit the winner, instant hero. Rodman did very well best I've seen him so far, very positive play.

WE WERE DREADFUL. Just as bad as we were the second half of last season, the players looked completely lost in the 3-5-2 system and we barely created anything. JED hasnt built up a ton of good will from last season as the performances were dire last year. Shrewsbury were average, didnt really test Cornell much despite us being dire. Hoping for a huge increase in performance levels ASAP.
