Any Shrewsbury fans on here. I'm getting the train from Manchester. Never realised that it was so close. Always thought Shrewsbury was quite far away from the north. Anyway its a cracking town with some cracking pubs. We can defend and so can they. We have conceded 3 goals all season but we aren't exciting. Looking forward to seeing Shrewsbury and their attack

Another outstanding result by the Shrews, why are'nt their fans lining up to come on here and shout from the rooftops !! Your form is up there with the Manchester clubs, the only difference a billion ££'s or so -and a few more fans

I would say the quality of opposition is also another difference.

Wins against Wigan and Scunny are decent I think and Blackburn scraped a late equaliser, I would also say Southend will rise up the table as well, can only beat what's in front of us

I was being waggish really, it was more in response to the comparison of ££s spent.

Not taking anything away from Shrewsbury at all, you've had a fantastic start and beaten some of the better sides. Think you should be taken seriously for a play-off challenge at least.

I predicted a 3-0 win for Shrewsbury in the pub beforehand, basing that on our inability to score and Shrewsbury's great start to the season. Our defence had to be overcome sometime soon, especially with a young inexperienced lad in at fullback due to injury.

What turned out to be was a routine home win. Nothing special or spectacular. Two mistakes from Gilks in goal and Mantom in midfield led to the Shrews goals. Apart from that I saw two pretty average looking sides, not good but often poor. The conditions didn't help, but the match certainly did not look like a top of the table kind of match to me.

Good luck to Shewsbury. I remember Gillingham having a great stat and then falling away a few seasons ago, plus we did the same last season, albeit still in the play-offs. It is not easy to keep the momentum going. I picked us out for a mid-table finish this season and I'll stick to that for now.

I would argue that it wasn't routine. Scunny were probably the best side to come to the Meadow this season.
Well organised, physical and solid, if unspectacular, in all areas. A bit like us really.
Horrible conditions made it a nervy game and the result could have gone any way.
Bishop very lucky to see the 90 imo but I fully expect Scunny to be there or thereabouts come May.

I've looked at the goals closely and whilst you have to put Gilkes at fault for the first goal I can't see how he can be at fault for the second. Also a great tackle won us the ball in midfield that led to the second.

Two individual mistakes, I should have said. First goal, Gilks - poor handling. Second goal, Mantom - had time to do better.
