I occasionally watch Bristol Manor Farm, their first season ever at this level.
Was genuinely shocked when I was told pre-season that they were aiming for promotion again, as their tactics in the Western Prem was "forget the defense, score as much as possible". To be fair it worked, think they had 100 goals between 4 players or something stupid.
A positive start so far (top on goals scored, unbeaten) and a derby vs Mangotsfield on Saturday.

Danger men for them- Dean Stamp, Troy Simpson and Ben Bament, 3 very good strikers. But my favourite has to be Jake Cox who over the last 2 seasons I have seen play in every outfield position except CB, but played very well in every position too.

Not going to get carried away as it is early days, but hope they can sustain the start they made.

Manor Farm keep hold of 1st with a 3-1 win at home to Mangotsfield.
Crowd of 200.

Taunton won as well, so just down to GD.

Story of the game was we took our chances and Bedford didnt..result is very harsh reflection for Bedford as I feel they should've had 2 or 3 themselves.

I am really enjoying the football I'm seeing from Hayes at the minute (apart from the defending at times) we have a never die attitude and are pulling through the tougher games.

It's a test to see if we can keep the unbeaten run at home going on Tuesday night when we host table topping Moneyfields who haven't lost yet at all.

Manor Farm lost on Saturday.

Hopefully they will bounce back and keep on going, but their all out attack style can't last, they need to improve the defensive side of their game.

Farm bounce back from defeat with a 6-0 win over Bishops Cleeve to retake top spot

Dean Stamp scored 4, putting him on 9 for the season already, but the best part is a clean sheet.

Hoping to get to a game soon, not been since they beat Larkhall about a month ago.

We drew 2-2 at home to Moneyfields last night.

Definitely points thrown away as we were 2-0 up and comfortable at half time. 2 well taken goals by Manny Duku who has scored 8 in all competitions so far this season including braces in the past 2 games.

2nd half was a complete different story we were asleep and Moneyfields took full advantage and got 2 goals and possibly should've had more.

However, I'll take a point against a team that's unbeaten.

Onto the big one this Saturday in the FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round v Havant and Waterlooville

Ashford Town (Middlesex) 4-0 Hayes and Yeading

Well where do start! Yesterday it really looked like we are back at square one. The team has fallen apart. The manager seems to have lost the plot slightly and possibly resigned yesterday.

We went behind early on through quite a tidy strike. Duku then seemingly equalised a few minutes later, but the lino decided he would put the flag up and it was given offside. Shortly after our defender almost scored an absolute screamer from a 40 yard volley but this sailed just over the bar. Ashford then went and grabbed a 2nd in the 27th minute. This was really it for quite a high tempered first half.

The 2nd half was shambles from us. We looked like a beaten side and despite Ashford going most of the half with a CB in goal we didn't even threaten once. Ashford deserved there next goals just to reflect how bad we were yesterday.

A few notes:
First of all, wish the Ashford keeper a speedy recovery after he suffered quite a nasty facial injury.

A couple of rumours from half time entertainment in the tunnel:
Our manager punched one of our players or 2 Hayes players had a punch prompting them to both be subbed at half time. Either way- absolutely shambolic

In the 2nd half what the fuck was Paul Hughes (the gaffer don't forget) doing behind the barrier on his phone and staring into space. Did he resign at half time, was he sent off or had he given up on this particular game.

The fans called for Hughes to leave and his reply was he'll happily walk away.

He also stayed behind with the chairman after the game..either getting told to get his act together or quit or he may have been handing his resignation in.

Whatever is happening needs to be sorted soon otherwise there's going to be unnecessary problems in what has otherwise been a promising season so far.

Personally I don't think Paul Hughes has been too bad. Obviously he never saved us last season but he has in my opinion brought decent football to the club other than yesterday. But I reckon another one bites the dust after yesterday though which is a shame. We shall wait for confirmation on this though.

Onwards to AFC Rushden and Diamonds next week and boy do I hope things improve otherwise we are in for it next weekend I reckon.

We've been in less than fantastic form ourselves, culminating in some fans trying to start a discussion about Peaks' position. It's probably not too much of a coincidence that I haven't been on here much recently - I've not been to a game in a while, and it's less inviting to come and talk about how we're playing out disappointing draws and losses, especially when I haven't been there in person to have much insight in to what is actually going on.

From starting the season free scoring we've really dropped off a cliff quickly. We've got a lot of threat from the wings, and one very good striker who blows hot and cold, we just seem to lack the threat either from a secondary striker or from an attacking midfielder right now. Dillon was meant to be that striker, but it hasn't really worked out, possibly due to the fact he took time out of the game last season. In attacking midfield that's more up for debate as to the issue, Peaks does have a tendency to play two defensive/holding type players there, but it doesn't help that Ross Oulton got injured again. Or that we seem to be terrible at set pieces at both ends.

At the back we've been light all season in terms of numbers, it's only been the pleasant surprise of Ben Ford at LB really making us able to field a decent back 4, with Sam Brown moved in to CB and doing a decent job. Ashton has been injured all season, Punter came in, wasn't playing, started to get game time and look OK and then got injured again. We've at least got in Gilchrist now to hopefully plug that gap. Even so the most fit defenders we've had at any point this season appears to be 5 - which just isn't enough - and rarely have we had 5 fit.

Overall while injuries haven't helped us, we're not exactly in a closed transfer window situation, and most of these situations have been ongoing for a while rather than sudden occurrences. I don't see any need to replace Peaks right now, it's not like there is a fantastic manager out there waiting for the chance with us, and we do play a decent style of football, even if the end results are a little lacking of late. Unless things go horribly wrong then I expect him to be here at least until the end of the season. I think many fans were just disappointed in going out of the FA Cup and the Trophy even though we played tough sides in both. Overall I think he's a decent manager, he's got a good track record of results in cups, but an average to poor one against promotion rivals, which is where the main concern seems to come from.

Before Saturday we've got a game at Marlow tonight. After last Saturday's missed chance to get a win against Egaham - a rival for the playoff/promotion spots - we really need to be going all out for the win tonight. Too many draws are killing our promotion aims. Maybe the loss in the FA cup really dented the team confidence. Right now we've dropped 11 points in total, while there are a fair few teams that have only dropped 5/6. We're playing catch-up already, and right now you have to say we don't look like finishing in the playoff positions, let alone getting in to the top 2/3 where are ambitions certainly were at the start of the season.

Manor Farm got a bad habit of throwing away leads the moment. Last years tactic of "we'll just outscore you" not working.
But their top striker has just come back from an injury so hopefully they'll start getting a few more wins.

Tuesday was a good night for Diamonds, a win against Cambridge City, who now fall to 5th, 4 points behind. Along with that was the surprise loss for leaders Moneyfield at home to Uxbridge, with no disrespect meant to the latter, more that it was Moneyfield's first loss of the season.

Interestingly along with other results that brings the current top 4 all level on points! Diamonds currently lead on GD, with Moneyfields in 2nd having a game in hand, Dunstable have played an extra 2 games on ourselves and Beaconsfield.

A very tough game for Diamonds on Saturday as Hartley Wintney visit - they are currently 6 points behind with 2 games in hand, sitting in 7th just outside the playoffs for now.

Big end to a big week for Diamonds running out 2-0 winners over 10 man Hartley Wintney. This result was huge as they cannot currently catch us by winning their games in hand. We were helped by the sending off before scoring 2 late goals to win the game, before that it sounded an even contest, if not the visitors shading it. Hartley will take plenty of points off of our rivals, and will certainly give us a good game when we go there.

Elsewhere some other big results as Moneyfields lost for the second time in a week, this time to Bedford, who's team walked out before their match against Fleet last week! Along with Northwood coming back to draw with Beaconsfield this means that it's down to 2 teams at the top level on points - ourselves and AFC Dunstable who have a worse GD and have played 2 extra games.

Importantly for Diamonds the Moneyfields result means they cannot currently go back top with their game in hand, at least not in to a sole lead.

Elsewhere Uxbridge beat Hayes & Yeading 3-0, so it seems something has really changed for Uxbridge recently!

Not much going on midweek in the division, though Diamonds have a game away at Aylesbury United, and a chance to take sole lead of the division....

I went to Hitchin Vs Dunstable Town today, which finished 1-0 to Hitchin.

Hitchin should have won by far more as Dunstable were very poor indeed, the keeper in particular looked very poor, i understand he is actually a loanee and an England Under 19 international which i found very troubling as he dropped pretty much everything! Be interesting to see if i hear anymore of him.

First half in particular Hitchin had a number of chances that they should have done better with, with balls flashing across goal with no one there to provide the finishing touch. Often times worked themselves into good positions only for the final ball to be lacking or someone to stray offside, usually the ginger haired McNamara who looked a decent player but couldnt stay onside to save his life it seemed. Had a couple of really decent one on ones with the keeper that were fluffed more through ineptitude than anything the Dunstable defence or keeper did!

Second half Dunstable actually started quite well, was somewhat unfortunate the goal, in that the full back found himself up the pitch and took a shot which the keeper saved, but he took a while to get himself back into position from that and the keeper punted the ball over his head to the pacey Hitchin winger who took it past him with ease. That winger Charles was definitely the best player out there, used his pace well to get to the byline a couple of times and got a deserved MoM in my opinion.

After that dunstable tried to apply some pressure but really did not create anything of note to be honest and was a comfortable win for Hitchin in the end.

Pleasant afternoon overall, Hitchin fans were a bit disappointed that they hadnt scored a few more as, as I understand it Dunstable have been the whipping boys of the division this season, but if im honest I didnt think Hitchin had enough going on up top to do anything of the sort to them despite the obvious frailties that Dunstable had. Doubt Hitchin will be troubling the play offs as they did last season on that basis this season.

So they should be, Dunstable players are quite literally on expenses only. I would display some sympathy but I've lost count how many times they've gone shit and bust, much like Farnborough and Salisbury.

Thanks, ashamed to say I wasnt aware they were having financial issues. They did look very poor indeed, in defence and midfield Hitchin were the better side but just had nothing going up top in my view. Apparently they were missing a key forward for them so maybe it was that. Still how they didnt capitalise on that dreadful keeper i do not know.

Tony McCool is working wonders at Dunstable considering the circumstances. It's a bit of a running joke who will finish bottom between them and Gosport since the latter are also completely broke. Brett Donnelly I'm assuming was Hitchin's striker, he's been there for what feels like an eternity.

With the exception of the Hatters, football is a bit of a mess in Bedfordshire right now. Biggleswade to their credit are doing well to be in the same division but Dunstable have financial woes as do Bedford which led to their players mass walking out on the club 10 minutes before KO last week.

Well this game has got a whole load more interesting, and by that I mean a lot more dangerous for us - Aylesbury United have sacked their manager, they'll clearly be looking for a bounce against us on Wednesday.

2-0 against 9 men. Might seem a bit odd, but their goalkeeper got sent off for stopping a lob well outside the area at 0-0, so I guess we would have broken through then, but it took much longer. Tom Lorraine got both our goals, the latter after Ayesbury United were reduced to 9 for a second yellow.

On to Saturday's trip to Aylsebury FC!

I'm pretty impressed by the way we've finished the year. We've had a couple of postponements that would have been nice to get played, but at the end of the day when you win all the games you do play then you can't complain too much!

2 games in hand on most. Some playing on Saturday, while some play on NYD. We're going to Bedford, where we expect a bumper crowd due to lots of travelling fans and a reasonable home support (for the level). Bedford coming off the back of a 5-1 away defeat to Cambridge City will be hoping to bounce back ASAP, hopefully we don't see too much of a reaction from their players.

Unbelievable 2-2 for Hereford at Slough, scoring 2 goals deep in to added time with 10 men to salvage a point and preserve their 52? game unbeaten away run.
