It’s always the same though, isn’t it? You get the relegated clubs drop down a league, bleat on about the poor standard the league has, either fail to go up or walk the league, then are, in some cases, promoted to a league which meets their quality demands, and then they come back down again.

However, if Barnsley manage to go straight back up, you could have a Wolves fans bleat on about the poor quality in the Championship, because they’ve just been relegated from the Prem.

It’s all just nonsensical relevance, really.

Good luck to all the relegated Champ clubs, I fully expect you all to walk the league.

With the exception of Burton, it’s a fair assumption that they will.

Wigan and Blackburn were lightyears ahead of everyone else and Rotherham won the play-offs. This league is tripe and the gap between this one and The Championship is getting bigger all the time.

Squad is complete according to Askey. Think we’ll line up something like this:-

GK) Coleman

RB) Bolton
CB) Nsiala
CB) Sadler
LB) Beckles

CM) Nolan
CM) Laurent

RW) Whalley
CAM) Colkett
LW) Okenabirhie

ST) Payne

Bench:-
Arnold
Haynes
Kennedy
Morris
Gillead
Eisa
Amadi-Holloway

Should be aiming for atleast a top half finish with that team.

More flair than last seasons team, I am hoping for a bit more than just a top half finish with that team.

Jones is looking looking to bring one more specific player in however without them, whoever they may be, this is probably our strongest side. Although we may have the personel for it, I don't see us playing wing backs l.

GK Marek Stech
LB Dan Potts
CB Sonny Bradley
CB Alan Sheehan
RB Jack Stacey
DM Alan McCormack
CM Jorge Grant
CM Luke Berry
AMC Elliot Lee
FWD Danny Hylton
FWD James Collins

SUBS- James Shea, Matty Pearson, James Justin, Pelly Ruddock- Mpanzu, Andrew Shinnie, Jake Jervis, Harry Cornick

Hylton is suspended for Pompey and Luke Berry not yet available after leg break, so can see Cornick and Pelly coming in.

Fairly happy with it. Lot of optimism amongst the Luton lot however I see us somewhere between 10th and 14th.

If we got 10th this season, I’d be happy with that.

How many of that team could make a step up another level? Not many I’d suspect.

As a club we’re not ready for the Championship yet. Not until we get Power Court built were genuinely ready.

Yup, very much at our level currently. Need to get the stadium done before we can think of going any higher.

Due to an overall lack of players and injuries we only have 16 players for the first day of the season at the moment. Our starting 11 is a grim sight right now

Watson

Clarke (if fit not sure) Goode Burgess Borthwick-Jackson
Dales Horsfield Sutton (if he's fit) Lewis
Humphrys Olomola
Subs: Flatt, Novak, Wooton, Butroid, Hornshaw

That bench includes two youth players who normally wouldn't make the bench.

Sheehan and Bradley won't play together in a two, I'm pretty certain of that. Jones has experimented with a few different defensive partnerships in pre-season but hasn't once played those two together, always been one left footer and one right footer for balance.

It'll be Sheehan and Pearson to start the first game I imagine.

I can't see Glenn Rea not being on the bench with the importance of the DM spot, McCormacks age and potential vulnerability and Rea's flexibility. This allows a range of defensive changes thru him so maybe one more attacking option on the bench

Said this when we went up, I think with the current state of things it may do more harm than good to go up at the Kenny in the long /mid term. Short term it would obviously be great but over stretching ourselves without having key things in place might lead to a downward spiral.

I think we are a mid table side League 1 side, who hopefully try and play a bit, and that’s ok with me. Just hope we keep trying build things incrementaly, and obviously Power Court is a big part of that.

So KJ has completely changed the system over the last 2 friendlies.

Now we line up 442

MacGillivray
Thompson whatmough Clarke brown
Lowe walkes naylor Haunstrup (normally a lb)
Pitman Curtis

I'm sure KJ is trying to sign a left winger to replace Haunstrup.
Curtis looks to pull out wide while Pitman staying central. Ronan Curtis looks a very good player. Very raw talent from Derry City. No left foot, but gonna cause defenders problems. Can run all day.

As it stands unless we sign someone this week which is looking unlikely I expect us to line up like this at Southend:
GK: Lawlor
RB: Mason
CH: Wright
CH: Butler
LB: Amos
RM: Crawford (if fit)
CM: Whiteman
LM: Rowe
ST: Coppinger
ST: Marquis
ST: Wilks

Probable Dale team at Burton (3-4-2-1 formation):
Lillis
***
McGahey - MJ Williams - Delaney
***
Rafferty - Perkins - Camps - Done
***
Henderson - Inman
***
Andrew

Subs:
Wade/Moore, Cannon, Ntlhe/McNulty, Wilbraham, Adshead, Thompson, Rathbone.

Then again, Hilly never does the expected...

It's 4 days till the start of the season and we still only have one centre back.

And our board said we had a "competitive budget":lol:

After our triple signings today we will now line up as:

Liam Roberts

Nicky Devlin
Jack Fitzwater
Jon Guthrie
Luke Leahy

Zeli Ismail
Adam Chambers
George Dobson
Josh Ginnelly

Andy Cook
Morgan Ferrier

Back 4 played with each other last season so that should make it easier for them, midfield looks better than last season with two proper wide men and the strikers are very unproven at football league level but both are exciting and is still better than having Amadou Bakayoko leading the line on his own. We'll miss the quality of Oztumer but we look a more balanced and solid side judging from that. Still lack depth in central defence and in central midfield but at least we have 2 centre halves and a new striker now.

Our season starts in just over 4 and a half hours and other than our keeper and defence I honestly couldn’t tell you who will be starting.

15 outgoings and only 2 incomings and a side that once again have bundles of injuries mean this is going to be a long, shit season.

Bloody 'eck. Charlton could only name 5 subs today.

What's going on there? I know there's been a lot of injuries. But surely you've got some players, somewhere?

And I watched the first half of the Sunderland game on TV. You were pretty damn good for that first half.

And yet bizarrely two young players that we have picked up after being released by Charlton - Regan Charles-Cook and Brandon Hanlon - combined for our first goal yesterday.

Maybe not regarded as good enough for their team (only 10 Charlton appearances between them) but could surely have filled the bench for them.

Might add that according to Accy fans forum, they were among our best 2 players yesterday. Here's hoping they can continue the sort of form they showed.

As said, far too many outgoings and not enough incomings. Coupled with all the injuries we have, we’re truly in the shit.

Two factors to this, one is the owner trying to offload everyone and anyone he can and Bowyer also seems to be the ‘if you’re not good enough, there’s no point you being on my bench’ type.

You have to feel for the Charlton fans, it has got beyond ridiculous now. When a team can't fill a bench and there is talk of food and water been rationed then the FL or FA need to step in and protect one of their members, as it can happen to anyone.

Hell I even nearly feel for Bowyer, that's how bad it's getting. I must just be getting soft.
